1. I want to be able to walk into any store and know that I can pick anything not just the specially sized merchandise. 2. I want to go to burning man and I see people dress waaaayyyy down on the Playa. I want to dress way down too but not if I have tummy rolls. 3. I know that I am 50lbs overweight now and I keep thinking so what happens if I have kids at some point. I would be 50 plus pregnancy weight. 4. I have to attend a wedding of an old family friend in the summer. I will be seeing lots of people I haven't laid eyes on in a long time and I dont want them to look at me and think damn she's gained weight. 5. I want my stomach to not jiggle when I walk. 6. I want to be able to bend over and tie my shoe laces or shoe straps without having to maneouver around my stomach. |

| It might also be that what you ate last night hasn't had a chance to leave your body. It could have been the time of day, or what you were wearing, just keep measuring yourself on a weekly basis and the number should, with your dedication go the other way. | |||
| Weight Loss | My scale and my clothes are telling a very different story | Dec 18 2007 15:01 (UTC) |

Growing up I always had this idea that when you lose weight it comes off like an onion. One layer at a time, all over. But its not happening that way and its hard to tell sometimes when you are doing okay and when you are not. I took daveyoda's advice and went to the gym for that special scale that measures BMR and fat mass and all that good stuff. My fat mass has dropped 3% even though the scale has only budged 3lbs. Last time I weighed myself there I was 5lbs lighter but my fat mass was exactly the same. I am hoping that by the end of January I will have lost another 8lbs. I am trying not to gain anything during Christmas.

| Weight Loss | People who eat low carb, show me a sample of your diet | Dec 03 2007 16:16 (UTC) |

Hey, I also found that cutting carbs from my diet eliminated my bloating. My sample diet: Breakfast: 2 whole eggs baked in half a green pepper 1 cup of coffee with low fat cream (1.5oz) and splenda instead of sugar Lunch: 6-8oz of chicken, lettuce, (or some other kind of veggie) low carb salad dressing
Snack: 1/2 cup 2% cottage cheese and, 1 cup pineapple bits or if I am being bad I will have 2 waffles Dinner: 4oz of wine, tuna salad, lettuce, or some kind of vegetables. This got boring so I am trying to find low carb recipes. I feel great, I don't feel tired or anything. I make up a spreadsheet every week to help me plan my meals which is one good thing I picked up when I tried Jenny Craig. It takes a little bit of time but it works really well. |

HELP!!!! I have a problem, I am fine until Thursday afternoon and then I begin my slow slide off the bandwagon. I don't know why but by Thursday afternoon I start having the wickedest cravings for sugar, chocolate, pizza, wine, potato crisps. I had banned all the above from my house and that has been really helpful because it means at night even when I have cravings I cannot indulge. But I'm at work now and I work for a food company that makes cookies so there is a vast array of things downstairs in the company store that keep calling out to me. I tried having a cup of hot chocolate no sugar and that didn't work so....any ideas. Preferrably something that can be bought in singles. If I buy a whole box of 100 cal items i eat the WHOLE BOX.

| Hi Folks,I've just started on this challenge as well and I just wanted to share some things that I think are making a difference the nth time around:1. Make a meal plan for the week. (actually borrowed this from JCraig its really helpful because I avoid making the mistake of loading up on too much sugar or starch or whatever for each day.)2. Factor some goodies into the meal plan as opposed to cutting them out completely (for me its coffee with cream although I use half the amount of cream I used to and replaced sugar with Splenda and a glass of wine spritzer (as opposed to a glass of wine) with my dinner)3. Elliptical. I hated them but I switched gyms and my new gym's stairmasters are c**p. I am hooked. I think I get a much more intense work out and even though I've only lost 6lbs the difference in my legs is amazing! This one pair of pants has been skin tight for about 1.5 years and now I can grab fabric on the legs. I was worried that this winter I might have to buy size 18 pants because all the trousers I had were too tight to allow even opaque tights let alone thermals. 4. Have great workout music. It makes me forget how much time I have left on the elliptical and just work out it time to the music and really push myself.5. Set mini goals for each month. (I've been reading lots of blogs and it seems the successful losers have all been doing this)6. Commit certain mornings to working out, no ifs ands or buts.7.Read stories about people who have lost weight. Its inspiring. (www.theweighwewere) thousands of stories of people who have lost up to 200lbs with diet and excercise.Hope this helps. | |||

| Its Thursday and this is where the slide usually begins. By this time of the week I feel too tired to make or pack a healthy dinner or go to the gym or do much of anything in particular. I think that I end up undoing all the hard work I did in the first half of the week. This is when I really start to crave junk food. This morning I really really wanted bacon and eggs on a bagel with a cup of very creamy very sweet coffee for breakfast but I was late for work so I couldn't indulge. I've also made the switch to weekly weigh ins to encourage me to do well the whole week. Is anyone else struggling with this. | |||
| Weight Loss | Not getting enough calories? | Sep 20 2007 05:36 (UTC) |

Hi I'm having the same problem, since replacing a lot of the carbs with veggies my caloric intake has been much lower but I feel satisfied. My calculations are that I have a caloric deficit of 1000 - 800 some days but from the posts Ive been reading that might stop you from losing weight. Or maybe I just need to be patient. I want to eat more but worry about that leading to bingeing. Bf: egg white and chicken slices Lunch: white meat and veggies Dinner: tuna salad & wine spritzer about 5 cups of coffee 8oz of creamer (I'd be a zombie without) splenda for sweetener |

| Hi,
My name is serenity CW: 195lbs GW: 145 I've set an aggressive workout goal 4-5 times a week. I usually do well for a while and then get complascent. I should have been at my GW by now but I keep falling off the bandwagon. I had a look through my old journals (back when I used to keep them on paper) and realized that I'd been promising myself that I would lose weight for the last 3.5 years. I've made a committment to lose at least 30lbs by the end of this year. The groups are great, having some one to check in with definatley means that I can be more accountable and therefore more motivated. |

| Weight Loss | Did the Atkin's diet mess you up to? | Sep 18 2007 21:21 (UTC) |
2 |
I agree with you. I honestly think people lose the weight and then whamo they think that they can just eat whatever. Atkins has a maintenance phase where you still have to go easy on the carbs. I tried Jenny Craig and even their portions of stuff like bread and past was pretty damn small. Personally I am on medication that has made weight loss hard so Atkins is working really well for me...when I stick to it. :) Cutting the carbs from my diet has also made me realize that I don't digest fibre well and I am lactose intolerant. For the first time in years I am not bloated. You know you can be too restrictive with your calories or excercise too much. Just remember that you cannot cut carbs out completely because you find them in veggies and cured meats so I guess its different strokes for different folks eh? |

| Weight Loss | Keto Diet | Sep 15 2007 04:10 (UTC) |

My intent was to be on the keto diet but I've been up to around 40-50 calories a day. Be ware of the level of fat that you are ingesting. I think Atkins is great, it works for me because I am on anti-depressants and that makes it very hard for me to lose weight simply by counting calories. I was actually down to 185lbs when I started with the medication and the weight loss stopped and ALL the weight came back. Eating the Atkins way has also stopped me from being bloated which now I realize has been nearly constant for the last 3 years or so, especially when it was TTOM urrgh I looked like I was preggers. I know its not for everyone and some people have had really bad side effects but I plan to stick with it. I know that I must take care what I eat after and not to lose the weight too fast otherwise I will have horrible folds of skin. I guess a lot of people think whooo hoo I lost the weight I will eat whatever I want and whatever quantity I want and I don't need to go to the gym but that will cause weight gain whatever diet that you were on.

Yes, yes yes, Carrot cake, chocolate cake, ice cream, pasta, it seems like I can eat all of that and more. On a really bad day I once counted 3000 calories! I guess just keep going to the gym so you cannot do too much damage. And anyway I've always found that by the time my visitor is on her way out, I've lost most of the weight I gained due to water retention and carbs. |

| Weight Loss | effects of binging? | Aug 11 2007 02:38 (UTC) |

| holy ***p. 15 lbs in 3 weeks is really bad. Like amberrr said get rid of anything that you would like to binge. Do you have pictures of yourself overweight. Look at those and just remind yourself that if you don't stop you will get even larger than that., That is what I do and its pretty effective. | |||

| Every month at work we have cake and fruit and I always take cake and not fruit. This time there was a white and dark chocolate layered cake with white chocolate flakes on the side. I said NO. I'm so proud of myself!! I took a little bit of fruit and I didn't have pizza on the way home. | |||

| Hi Guys,
All of you are just super motivating for me. This is my new club. I weigh 200lbs and its just killing me. I had started with a weight loss progam last year and had lost 15lbs and many inches and then started taking an anti depressant and that just wrecked everything. Without the motivation of losing the weight I fell off the band wagon and undid 6 months of hard work in about 2 months. :0!!!!!! Anyway I am here, AGAIN and I've made it my goal that I must end the year at least 20lbs lighter which is a highly attainable goal. I had signed up for Jenny but their meals are really expensive although I did learn about a few things that were hurting my diet. |

| You know what pay no attention to those people. Understand that when people lash out at you sometimes it is because you are the convenient target and not because you have done something wrong. Plus they are in a car and you are on a bike, it is easy to scream something out of the window and then speed off because they are not giving you the opportunity to respond. They have the upper hand in the situation and they know it. Believe me, if they were face to face, they would not have had the nerve to say such things to your face. And BTW at 104 I am thinking you are pretty small. Did they know you? If they did, it could be that they know you are sensitive about that and that even if it is far from the truth, it is something that is guaranteed to get under your skin. | |||
| Weight Loss | Measurements????how often? | Jul 25 2006 19:53 (UTC) |

| Hi,
I guess it just has to be trial ane error for everyone because you may weigh the same but you are losing inches because of toning. Perhaps you could start off measuring yourself once a month. (That is how often I do it). I keep a log of the measurements on my pda so I can see how it is coming a long. Even though from month to month the changes are not that large. Perhaps an inch or so, it is the trend that is important and of course the psychological reinforcement. Good Luck |

| HI Guys,
Do you mind if I join in. I have about 50lbs to go but I need help. At one point I was down 13 lbs but I seem to have gained back 6lbs in the 3 weeks of July. (I know WTF) I think that since you all are having such great success, there is a lot that I can learn from you. Can you guys be a little more specific aout what you have been doing, eating etc. I have been trying to incorporate more fruits and vegetables in my diet so I can eat small meals throughout the day and so on and I do love my Crystal Light. Is alcohol (read gin) really that big of a deal. I mean just a night cap? |

| That is really good. I am trying to cut down my caloried intake but I found that really hard as everything came close to 2000 calories. Thanks for the tip here. It seems like you eat an ungodly amount of salads if you do not mind my saying so. I will definately take that into consideration.
Otherwise good for you. I know how great it feels when you have done great. |
