I actually don't know the answer to your question and hope someone will answer you.... but I wanted to say I have washed some "dry clean only" clothes and they all came out ruined. Mostly shrunk to like half its size. But I'm glad yours weren't ruined! Sorry I'm no help just wanted to throw that out there. I can't remember what materials these clothes were made of either because its been quite a while since this happened. |

I just went and bought a whole bunch of totes (the plastic containers) and started putting stuff in them. My hubby is a packrat (although he denies it) and so I just boxed it all up. I didnt throw anything away. You can't tell them to do it. They just get mad. So you have to do it yourself, and then train him to keep it clean. Its the easiest way. Good Luck! |

I guess I will share my experience too... if you have a choice of Aetna I would chose them. I have never been covered under anyone else except a college program (ugh) and I LOVE Aetna. (Well beside the fact that they are still an insurance company). They are great about taking claims, they send you (promptly) a statement that says who they paid and how much, and also how much that provider is allowed to bill you. And if there are mistakes (which I have only had one, and it was the hospitals fault) they are super quick to correct. Not once have had a fight with them. Every other insurance company I have heard mixed reviews about, and most people I know have BCBS and they don't like it because they don't cover much unless you have a super expensive plan, and even then you must jump through hoops. (I am just quoting what I have heard from others, I dont have specific examples off the top of my head right now). |

Calorie count wrote a blog or email or something about this saying that they changed the equation they were using... I'll have to find it unless someone had it on hand. I can't do it right now but I can later. So your new burn meters are based on the different equation. |

Tara all the way! I like Mike but I don't want him to win because I just can't stand his dad! I know that is so horrible. I want Tara to win because I LOVE her ambition. Its that drive inside her that I want so bad, if only to live my weight loss dreams through her accomplishments. /Ramble! lol. And for the at home prize I want Mandi to win. I was sad when she left, and think she will be strong. Other favorites are Sione, and Kristin. ahhhhhhh, only 12 more minutes until the show! |

| Pregnancy & Parenting | How do I get sleep? | Apr 17 2009 16:22 (UTC) |

I don't work, but that doesn't make my sleep any less important (in my eyes!) Its just that my husband works 12 or 13 hour days sometimes and he really does need sleep. Not to mention that I did try letting him feed her --- it kept both of us up! She usually falls asleep in my arms after she is done eating, so he could not figure out how to get her back to sleep. We did swaddle up until about 8 weeks. She doesnt like it now and I can not keep her in the tightest of swaddles. She can break out of them. She just turned 18 weeks, and is doing all sorts of new things. She has mastered like 3 things in the last 2 weeks (rolling back to front and front to back, reaching/grabbing objects, sucking on her feet). Oh and the squealing of laughter, the cutest thing. EVER. Does anybody do schedules/routines and does it work?

Thanks everyone... I do need to take her out. She was born with no problems, a full 41 and a half weeks pregnancy and she came out super healthy and a normal 7lbs 4.4 oz. There is no reason to keep her in. I do think I dont want people in her face but I think that is just common sense. Do you think I could take her grocery shopping for an hour or 2? I took her outside today in her coat and hat and we walked up and down the sidewalk and sat on the bench. As soon as we stepped outside she fell into a deep sleep! It was nice to breath some fresh air, even if it is only 15 degrees outside! Thanks again. |

DoE - it seems like eternity has passed since my ultrasound. my little bean measured 5 days bigger at her ultrasound, but I have been spot on every week. I have had the "text-book" pregnancy so far, except the morning sickness which I got pretty severely until 30 weeks. I have had contractions since Thursday, and cramps... but nothing timeable. I am just going to ignore them until I can't. Are you going to take a childbirth class? I haven't even looked - is this your first? It's my first. We took Bradley classes and I loved them. Thank you for the labor dust, I need plenty of it. Maybe a moutain of dust! |

If you can not get your hubby to agree to vasectomy, look up the "Essure" procedure as an alternative to tubal litigation. I read a lot about this procedure and it sounds pretty good as far as female sterilization goes. |

I guess I'm not sure whether or not I care about the 'debate' as you would call it. What I do care about is that you, melika, pretend to think that since we make a different decision than you would, that we are ignorant. I have done my research, and know fully what I am doing. For you to suggest otherwise is ignorant, no matter what you think. I do understand about herd immunity. I understand the importance of vaccinations. I also understand the importance of choice. I can almost guarantee that it is the more informed person who is going to be questioning 'conventional' wisdom on these things. We understand there are risks as well as benefits, as with all things in life, and have to make decisions for ourselves based on that. Most hospitals do not even tell parents about the vit k shot or the eye ointment (back to my original post). They just do it. This is not INFORMED CONSENT in my opinion, and it's not right. I'm glad you have a passion, and you are certainly entitled to your opinion. Again, just because I dont agree with you fully doesn't mean I'm ignorant. I think it is arrogant of you or anyone else to suggest otherwise. Susan - thank you for your input and help with this. It is the information I was looking to hear, not how stupid I am for questioning routine procedures. As if doctors know everything. As if anyone does. Editing to say that no doctor would do surgery on a newborn that didn't have the vit k shot. Of course if my baby needed for that reason I would not be against it. And, its not "Just a vitamin". Its a chemical that resembles vitamin k in its properties. But still a chemical. |

I don't want to sound rude, but please read. Read before posting things insinuating that I am not going to vaccinate my child. I said I WILL VACCINATE MY BABY, I just don't like the way it's currently done, and would like SOME of the vaccinations a little later then they currently do them. The vitamin K shot and they eye ointment are not vaccinations. The vitamin K shot is given to all newborns in the rare occurrence that the baby has a hemorrhage, but there are also studies showing this shot can cause cancer. The occurrence of the hemorrhage is 1.8 in a 100,000 births, and the baby's levels of vit k will rise to adult levels just 8 days after birth. The eye ointment is given to protect against eye infections in newborns born to mothers with gonnerhea or chlamydia, but is given to ALL newborns whether the mother has these diseases or not. It does cause eye irritation and blurs the baby's vision for a few days. As for the hep b vaccination, I will refuse this for my newborn because this disease is a blood disease that either I would have to give to my newborn, or he or she would get through sexual transmition or needle transmition. My child can get this vaccination when he/she is older, there is no need to do it when the baby is only a few hours old. |

I really appreciate all 3 responses, they are very helpful. I think I know what I'm up against, and just hope I am fully prepared to deal with it. I just finished writing a birth plan and have included my wishes about newborn procedures. Susan, I would like to see your birth plan but I have never used the private message thing on this before, so I don't really know how to do that. We are going to get the PKU test and other screenings because we feel that the benefits outweigh the risk. (Yeah I wish the baby didn't have to be poked with a needle, but the usefulness of these tests outweigh that small discomfort IMO). Booster - Thank you so much for your take on this, it is helpful to see it from the other side -- invaluable info. |

| Spuckine~ With your first did you go in to labor on your own? I am so afraid of having to be induced (either membrane sweep or breaking of waters). I won't go the pitocin route unless I am forced. Your labors sound wonderful, especially the first. It sounds exactly like what I am hoping for. How far along were you in the pregnancy when that one was born? Others~ Sounds like many of us are ready to have our babies. For myself, I am extremely nervous. Like sunquest said, I am ready to meet the baby, but don't know if I am ready to be a mommie yet! My next doc appt is Oct 17, they are letting me go 3 weeks, (i will be 33 weeks) then I have the GBS test on Halloween probably. Then I go every week til the babe is born! |

| I just had my 30 week check up today and it seems things are great! I am glad others are doing well too. I have gained 22 lbs, blood pressure is 110/68 ... I couldn't be happier! And I was told the baby is already upside down!!!! That doesn't mean she'll stay that way, but I hope she does. I had to do my glucose tolerance test today, that sucked, but I am sure I passed. And I got pre-registered at the hospital too. My husband and I are taking Bradley classes and I really like it. Has anyone else gone 'al natural' with their births? Or tried? I'd like to hear stories. Hope everyone's babies are doing well! |

| Pregnancy & Parenting | Low carb diet during pregnancy?! | Sep 19 2008 17:37 (UTC) |

I would wait until your 3 hour test before doing anything drastic. Personally it seems like you are getting the right amount of carbs, as long as they are good carbs. (you know, not white breads or pastas). You need carbs for energy, especially where you are now. I just found that I really like plain oatmeal (made at home) with some raisins and bananas. Lots of carbs and lots of fiber. What did you eat right before your glucose test? How high was it? These things will factor into whether you truly have diabetes or if it was a false alarm. Also, a lot of those 'low carb' breads and stuff have artificial sweeteners and other junk that might not be good in pregnancy either. I hope you find something that works for you and is healthy for baby too. |

| Yes, I am actually due December 2nd! 28 weeks tomorrow and counting, and I hope you will be soon too! Don't get discouraged either because you will find a lot of people on the internet with bad experiences who could never get pregnant, and while that does happen, it is more likely that people who did get pregnant never bothered to get on the internet and tell everyone they got pregnant after depo. ( I only say this because I read blogs everyday wanting to get pregnant and thought I never would because of how many people it seemed couldn't get pregnant...) | |||

| My last depo shot was in June 2007, had a light period when I missed my shot in september (2007), and then a real period at the end of Jan (2008) one at the end of Feb., and I got pregnant in March this year! I had been on the shot for four years, so I figure my cycle returned relatively quick. Good luck! |

| I know I shouldn't post here because I hate following threads. But I have a 'story' (if you are even interested because I think you are already dead set on the idea you are j'ust pretty so she hates you') I have a co-worker whom I do this to, snappy comments and such, ignore her when I talk to others, etc. Because I just plain don't like her! We are equals at the job but when I first started she was supposed to be my 'mentor' - you know, someone to help me out, show me the ropes, etc. But that's not what she did. She talked to me like I was 4 years old, like you would talk to a small child. Told me all her silly 'advice' and 'philosophies' on how to deal with people. She thought she 'knew' everything. OMG how f'in annoying. I know you have not worked with her that long, but seriously most people dont hate based just on your looks. Just think about it - others aren't trying to bash you, but the best way to deal with it (if you really care that much about being her friend) is to ask her. It's not that hard. No offense - maybe its just your lipstick. (See how that doesn't really work?) |

| I was so afraid of not getting pregnant after depo. Well at first it was no big deal because we 'didnt want kids,' but hubby changed his mind. | the mormons have a similar federal credit union too. it is called beehive federal credit union. as for the OP, i struggled with this at first. I was outraged when president bush announced it, and when Obama said he supported it I was pretty mad. But I took a step back, and thought about what he was trying to accomplish. Barack Obama has worked with churches to help the poor get jobs and feel safer in their communities. What we dont have is a government program that feeds or shelters poor people on a no condition basis. What we do have is far from adequate. I know because I was raised very very poor. The point of all this is, as an atheist, I see the good that churches do when they help the needy on an UNCONDITIONAL basis. if there are other organizations doing this, they will get money too. But you dont see too many of those. In short, I have had a change of heart and think that if the money is doing well in our communities to help the neediest and especially the children, then LET'S DO IT! |

| Well since no one has mentioned it, YELLOWSTONE!! I know it is touristy, but you can't come this close and not go. Especially if you are going to Grand Teton National Park. I have been to yellowstone twice in the last 2 weeks and I have seen in no particular order, a grizzly bear with 2 cubs, a grizzly bear with one cub (most likely you will not see these but it was the coolest thing ever!) a bald eagle, 15 to 20 elk, one with HUGE antlers, a bull moose, and hundreds of bison. Not to mention yellowstone is so beautiful, even if you do miss the grizzlies! |

| I am just like you! Oh I know I can lose weight. When I work hard at it, it just melts off. But I can't force myself to do it. I lost 50 pounds in the summer of 2006. Then I gained 65! I need to stick to it too, I just want my life to revolve around something other than counting calories and obsessing about everything I need to do to lose weight. Here I think you have identified a problem...a problem we (and I imagine many others) have had. Now we have to decide what we are going to do about it. I have to disagree with the 'Just do it' solution. Easier said than done. I've tried it. |
