My sis has been experimenting with low sugar and low fat desserts. Since I'm not going to give them up, I may as well make them better for me. I made this one for my family and it was a big hit. Generally people don't even know this is a diet pie unless you tell them. It even has some protein in it.

Take 1/2 cup fat free milk, heat to boiling in microvave or stove.

Empty into blender and sprinkle 1 packet unflavoured gelatin.

Blend for 40 sec then scrape down sides and blend 40 more seconds.

Add 1 cup fat free cottage cheese and, blend on high until smooth.

Add 1/2 cup of your favourite peanut butter, blend until smooth again.

Empty into mixing bowl and add 1/2 cup granular splenda and 4 oz ( 1/2 of an 8 oz tub) of fat free whipped topping. Mix until smooth.

Pour into Graham cracker pie crust. Or if you really want a treat, use an oreo crust. Believe it or not, it has about the same calories as a regular crust.

Let it set for at least 4 hours.

LOL - I know what you're saying, some parents can just be exasperating when it comes to food and weight.

I am now 27, and my Father has made disparaging comments about my weight all my life, it has made me very defensive and a bit neurotic when it comes to food.

I have only ever fluctuated 5 lbs up and down from 120lbs since I was 14, except when I was pregnant, but depending on my Father's mood I was either annorexic or getting chubby...

It's hard to understand, but now I just brush it off as I do a lot of qualities in my Father that I don't like, as I know I have a lot of qualities he may not necessarily like.  But I do love him, and he does love me....so when he cooks smothered pork chops, mashed potatoes and pie for dessert, I eat it...small portions, but I eat it all the same, because really and truly, food should not cause that much emotional strife in people...it's just food.

I get this feling if I jog too long, I can't breathe or swallow well, feels like there is something stuck in my throat/chest, and I feel a bit queasy, and if I stop too suddenly it will cause a reaction rather like anaphylactic shock (sp) itching, hives, swelling, inability to swallow etc.  I've had this happen twice - not fun.  I can tell when it's happening now, and it usually means I have to jog just a little farther and then have a long cool down walk.

Not that this has anything to do with your symptoms, but thought I would throw my own weirdness into the mix.

Health & Support any ex smokers? May 14 2007

I've been off the smokes for about 3 months now.  Very, very proud of myself given some of the things I have been through since I quit.

Unfortunately, now I binge a lot.  So no smoking, but lots of bad ....BAD food choices.

So now I have the no-smoking think down pat, I'm not drinking alchohol anymore either, but I am having the toughest time not giving in once a week and consuming 3000 calories in less than 2 hours.  It's much tougher than quitting smoking, one obsession for another.

I think if I could go to the gym whenever I wanted to I wouldn't have a problem, but I am a single mum, and when I get trapped alone at night, and can't leave the house, I give in to cravings.

Hopefully this week will be the week I can get back on track and live normally again.

Yoga every night is my goal, it helps me stay focused and in control - that is,  once I can get my lazy bum up and doing it before the thought of cookies enters my head!!!  LOL

If you enjoy it, do it!

Overly restrictive diets are too difficult to maintain.  As long as you have the calories to spare, you're good to go!

Get some dannon light and fit yogurt, and use the cereal as a crunchy topping, I pour out a cup servingof the cereal and sprinkle and eat, sprinkle and eat, etc.  It gives an extra something to both the yoghurt and the cereal.

Ugh - I agree with the binge issues.  I used to do it every three days, but now I am down to once a week.  I am hoping to be in complete control again soon, the binge problems started in X-mas when I allowed myself to eat whatever I wanted.

I have also been smoke free for three weeks now, so that's another proud achievement, but also contributes to the binge - nibble, nibble, nibble.  I think I am going to cut out TV during the week, and only allow in on Saturday night, if I read or chat online, or do household stuff I can keep my mind busy, but TV just begs for me to eat things while I sit gawking at it.

8 pounds to go!!!

If you don't have a scale, the best thing may be to cut it in bite size pieces and see how much fits in a cup, I know the site has an option for 1 cup chopped chicken breast.

I make plain oatmeal, add 1/4 cup cottage cheese and dannon light and fit blueberry yogurt - very yummy!!

Also, can make the same but cook oatmeal with chopped green apple, and cinnammon and add vanilla yogurt instead, tastes like apple pie.

I have made homemade pizza with spinach and cottage cheese - yum!!

Add it to grond beef, squash and marinara.

Add to tuna instead of mayo, with ginger, garlic and chopped veggies

Mix with onion powder, garlic salt, pepper and fresh hebs to make a yummy dip for veggies or crackers

And I think that's all I can remember :)

Just me, but I think you need to have a look at your protein intake, are you getting it from any other source beside the Subway sandwich?

I always add cottage cheese to my oatmeal to up the protein level.

Fitness definition vs strength work outs Feb 19 2007

I do a "hard/heavy" workout twice a week for arms and back using free weights and the weight machines at the gym, and then light arm and back twice a week with resistance bands.

Cardio of some sort 6 days a week, 3 days hard, 3 days lighter.

I don't always do it for the calorie burning, I have a stress management problem, and find my days are so much easier when I find time to exercise, even just a little.

I am seeing some definition, but I think it is an on going struggle - depends on how buff you want to get I suppose.

Getting rid of the fat is definitely key, my abs are rock solid, they just come off as squishy cuz they are underneath an inch of fat  :)

I have this same problem on some days after I have been working out for a couple days straight....sad to say I usually end up binging, which I am currently working on breaking - BAD HABIT!!!

What I can say is eat more frequently.  I have a yogurt 4 oz mixed with Kashi golean 1/2 cup about 110 calories, 20-30 minutes before a workout, this helps me through, and then I have an omlette about an hour after the workout, about 150 calories

Don't starve yourself for sure!  If you realise your appetite increasing to the point it is affecting your workouts, or the rest of your day, I would say up it, but up it with protein/complex carbs, this will provide more fule, I would not however advise adding more fruit or veggies to the equation, unless it is a side to protein - eg tomatoes in omlette, or banana and oatmeal etc.

Get a weighted jump rope - it's so much fun, and doesn't feel like work, but is a good workout - I feel like a kid again when I do jump rope, and if you do it fast enough it can burn up to 200 calories in 15-20 minutes!  :)

I wouldn't say I binged Saturday, but I definitely went over my allowance  :)

I am really back on track though, and doing well, I'm not restricting as much, and allowing myself more fruits for the sweet cravings, for health reasons I was supposed to stay away from ALL sugar including from fruit - so I think my body was in absolute rebellion.  And making me crave all kinds of badness!

I'm finding it a lot easier to say no to things when I know I can have a banana on my cereal every morning LOL - I know sounds so silly, but health diets are really hard to follow when they are so strict!

I'm with you guys, sometimes I come up with the most ridiculous reason too - I'm not trying to lose weight, but I am supposed to stay off of sugar for health reasons, and what do I do, buy a bag of mini chocolate donuts and eat the whole thing!!  That like 15 of them!!  And that wasn't all!!

Ugh - so this will be a good thread for all of us  :)
