| The Lounge | Question for people who don't live in the US... | Sep 12 2009 13:39 (UTC) |

Original Post by yogagirl6853: well, attitudes like that are exactly the reason why america's reputation is damaged. saddam hussein had nothing to do with 9/11, didn't even have any weapons of mass destruction, so no, you were not justified to start that war. all the offical reasons were nothing but lies, there was no reasonable strategy what to do AFTER american soldiers went into baghdad and tore saddam's statue down, and now iraq's just a big mess, a country that's slowly beginning to recover. however, no one is BASHING the united states. it was criticized and for a reason. also, the U.S. isn't the only country in the world people emigrate to. i live in germany, and we have lots of foreigners too, as do a lot of other european countries. that doesn't make me think "wow we're so great, everybody wants to live here!" it just shows that there are countries where life is A LOT worse. and i find the term "foreigner" strange. the U.S. is a country defined by immigrants from all over the world. you were all "foreigners" at some point, some just arrived earlier, others later. |

I got mine out two months ago, and the first two days I mostly ate soup, applesauce and a banana. I would stay away from pudding, ice-cream or yogurt (and all dairy products in general), the bacteria could cause an infection. At least that's what I was told by my doctor, and it makes sense. I wouldn't recommend oatmeal either, some of it may get stuck in your stitches, and I don't know about you, but I couldn't open my mouth wide enough to reach that area with the toothbrush. Anyway, I hope you'll feel better soon. I guess I was lucky (or everyone had been exaggerating) when mine were pulled, cause I wasn't in very much pain at all, and my cheeks were hardly swollen. I hope it's the same for you! |

so this happened in romania, right? i take it you're from canada? maybe you shouldn't take what happened too personal. in eastern european cultures it's normal to offer your guests food over and over again. i don't think that these comments were meant to hurt you. they probably would have said it to anyone who declined dessert :) feel free to ignore me if this isn't news to you, maybe you've been living in romania for years and already know about this. i just thought i'd mention it. |

| Weight Loss | When did YOU start to gain weight? | Jun 06 2009 11:15 (UTC) |
4 |
probably when i was around 15. i was never fat though, probably not even chubby, but i had always been a skinny girl so packing on a few pounds made me feel uncomfortable. anyway, ever since then i've been struggling with my weight. i lose in the summer, i gain during the winter months. probably because i'm much more active when the weather is nice and i can workout outside. i hate the gym. |

| Foods | What color is Your banana? | May 21 2009 21:41 (UTC) |

if i eat a banana on its own, as a snack, i like it best when it has a nice yellow colour all over. but i also don't mind them getting brown spots, because they get softer and that's the best texture for oatmeal in my opinion. and oatmeal or warm muesli with a banana is my everyday breakfast. love it! |

i watched most of it, but i didn't really like a lot of songs. i'm from germany, and i was really embarrassed by our performance. having dita von teese there "stripping" on stage looked more desperate than sexy. no wonder we ended up 20th. |

just talk to him. be open and tell him about your feelings. if he feels the same, good. if not then there's probably nothing you can do other than moving on. |

| Fitness | Running Cramps! | May 16 2009 16:22 (UTC) |
|
i would definitely try adding more potassium to your diet. i eat a banana every day, but on days that i go for a rum i take a potassium tablet in addition. one of those that dissolve in a glass of water. that works for me, if i don't take them for a few runs i will get cramps in my calves. depending on where your cramps are exactly, you could also try to strech the muscles in that area before you run by lifting up your arms and lengthening (is that even a word? sorry i'm not a native speaker..) your whole body. sometimes i feel a sharp pain in my abdomen during the run. if i strech the muscles it usually goes away. |

i spend about 30$ a week. i always buy lots of fruit, veggies, dairy products, muesli.. and a few non grocery items. i don't buy a lot of meat - too expensive! that's just for myself, if my boyfriend stays for lunch or dinner i have to spend a little more, because he eats A LOT. |

| Weight Loss | Why do you want to lose weight? | Apr 08 2009 16:23 (UTC) |

i want to feel good about myself again. it's not like i'm fat, but all almost all of my pants that fit last summer got kind of tight. i want to look fabulous in a bikini and in that new dress that i bought (which means getting rid of the love handles). i want my stomach to be flat again. no more fat please. but the feel-good-part is what's most important to me. |

| Foods | banana alternative to get potassium | Apr 05 2009 10:36 (UTC) |
|
I LOVE bananas, I eat one every day, never get tired of them, and they've never stopped me from losing weight. It's just 100 calories, not the end of the world. About the potassium, I find that when I run a lot I need to take additional supplement, otherwise I get cramps in my calves and feet, even though I eat a lot of the foods listed above. |

Sign me in! I ALWAYS put on weight during winter and then when spring comes around I realise it's time to get rid of it again. Nice weather makes it easier for me to lose weight, because I hate the gym so I don't workout enough when it's cold :/ Anyway, starting weight as of now is 61 kg (134lbs), goal is 55 kg (121lbs). |

I've been on Yasmin for almost 2 years now. My boobs got bigger too. I did gain a little weight, I have to blame it on my eating habits though, not on the pill ;) but I do feel like the pill makes it harder to lose weight. Apart from that.. I used to have no cramps whatsoever when I had my period (really NOTHING, I guess I was lucky), but ever since I've started taking the pill my lower back hurts a little on the first day. It's not that bad, but I've just noticed. Every doctor tells me Yasmin is the best, so maybe give it a try? |

| Fitness | Question for those with bad knees | May 22 2008 12:14 (UTC) |
1 |
| @reaganleigh: if I were you I'd definitely get that knee checked. I only just went to a doctor yesterday because I started feeling pain in my right knee after running. well he gave me a bandage and said I had to reduce running to 1 to 2 times a week and I'd be fine. I'd only need to get it x-rayed if it gets hot or swells up, which yours apparently does, so you might want to have a doctor look at it before you end up doing some serious damage to it! |

| I say give your knees a rest until you've checked with your doctor to see what's wrong with them. My right knee has started to hurt as well, and I'm pretty sure running is what has caused this. I'm really afraid I could do serious damage to my knee if I continue to run, so I'm doing different kinds of exercises now. I'll definitely need to see a doctor too though, I'm starting to miss running :( | |||
| Fitness | Running in cold weather? | Dec 04 2007 16:40 (UTC) |
5 |
| Hm, I'm not sure but I think I've read or heard about the same number somewhere, -10°C. I'd say listen to your body. Personally I wouldn't run if it's colder than that, because it hurts my lungs and I have to cough a lot afterwards. But if you're fine, why not? | |||

| don't worry about wearing sneakers, no one's gonna asume you're American just because of that ;) trust me, I'm from Germany. Apart from that, just enjoy your trip, if you don't stuff yourself with food all day you won't gain everything back that you've lost. You'll do a lot of walking, we don't have huge portions over here, you'll be fine :) |

| so did you eat it raw or microwaved now? I always steem mine in the microwave and I think you could definitely say there's some kinda sweetness to it, compared to raw broccoli. | |||
