| Health & Support | I think I have an eating disorder... | Jun 13 2009 15:22 (UTC) |

I binge eat the most in periods of my life that I find scary/stressful/upsetting etc. etc. I think maybe this is you too. There is no magic way to stop it - you obviously know this - and you have admitted that you feel that there's a problem, which is great! Now you can help yourself more easily. Firstly, understand why you do it. Write down how you are feeling when you feel the need to binge. This sounds simple, but is incredibly hard... when you are in "that" place, you just don't care, you want to eat eat eat. You have tried to get help by seeing your doctor. Don't give up. Keep seeing a doctor until you find one you gel with, who can understand and sympathise. Maybe don't bring it up primarily as an issue with food, but rather that you are stressed, and you don't know what to do. Then mention that it's affecting your relationship with food, and maybe other things in your life (I know this is true for me), and that it's a vicious circle you want to get out of. Maybe they will recommend a counsellor you could see. I'm not sure if you live in the US or not, or how it works over there, but here in the UK you can get referred to someone to talk to. Talking helps. When you want to binge, why not come on here and confide to us how you are feeling? Write in the journal section, or email someone on your buddy list. You can email me if you like. Sorry I've written so much, I just really feel for you because I go through the same things, and have managed to break the cycle, but right now am so stressed out that it's really been affecting me. I going to count my binge free days. Maybe we should do it together? Good luck and much love xx |

I would have just looked at her and said, "You found one, didn't you?" or "I guess I'll just have to find someone with low standards, like you did." Then I would have taken the quiche away and told her dinner was over.
hahah I just read this, this is the best! |

Original Post by yaza: Why don't "u" learn correct grammar??
In response to the OP, I think that she's obviously insecure, but not just that, she's really ungrateful! You have her round at your house and cook for her! Was she never taught to say thank you to the host?! Crazy. You are a perfect weight - my goal!! Good luck with everything, you always have support on here... xx |

Lookin good! Muscle obviously makes a huge difference. If I were you, I'd just keep eating healthily, and working those weights, and see your body fat drop, but your weight maybe staying the same, as you look pretty good to me! Good luck, and thanks for the inspiring post! |

'Water weight' is not weight from drinking water, but rather the amount or water that your body holds onto if it feel dehydrated. This is called water retention. Having too much salt, or not drinking enough water can make your body hold on to all the fluid it can... therefore, when you drink enough water your body realises it can have all the fluid it needs, and lets the water weight go. Based on this, it would make sense that a pill that encourages you to drink more water, would also help you lose the water retention. Simply drinking the water anyway may have allowed you to lose the same weight!!
This is a very simple explanation, but google water retention and you'll probably get more info. |

haha, I've never had that personally, but I hated having sloppy looking jeans after I lost weight (I, too, am cheap... heheh) However, I know what it's like have jeans that are too tight, and you get that muffin top, and it's uncomfortable to sit down etc. so I can put up with the sloppy look for a bit. Depending on the type of jeans (this will work best if they have a slight stretch, and they are/or you want to make them into skinny jeans) sew up the inside leg seam, and take them in around the waist and ta-da! Well it worked for me... sometimes... xx |

tealparadise - I get ya, also, I don't think you stay on the "starve yourself diet" for too long... from what I read, it seems that once you "learn" new ways to eat (not emotionally etc.) with help from your "special counsellor" you get to eat "normal" food again... I too still think it's a load of crap. |

Yeah, I hate that advert on the tele! I couldn't believe it's only 550cals. This is awful. I understand from the adverts that you have to get your doctors go-ahead before you can join, and you need to be "severly overweight" but when you are bigger, you can eat more calories and lose anyway!! It's well stupid. Have had no experience of it personally, but I'll say it again, I think it's well stupid!! ha. Have you seen that programme on C4, supersize vs. superskinny? That's kind of the same principle, although I can see how swapping diets for a week, even if it is unhealthy, can help people understand where they're going wrong...

kishmish - I think we all get a little irrational about our weight sometimes! But you are 120lbs, and seriously, I'd kill to be there right now... bodysnatcher! Seriously though, I think you know that rationally it's because of the weights and everything, so try not to feel too down about a couple of pounds. I need to follow my own advice, because I've been getting so disheartened with the scales! The only thing that makes me feel a little better is remembering that last time I weighed this much I was a UK size 14-16, and now I am a 12... Must be muscle! Muscle is cool... keep on keeping on kishmish!
On a personal note, I weighed 156lbs this morning, so I think I've dropped a pound?? Keeps going up and down. Need to get over this plataeu! |

Original Post by ds1973: "Why should this not be allowed"?!? Well, if an "average" woman can eat 2000 calories p/day, and an "average" man 2500, then I don't think that resturants should sell things that are four fiths, or the WHOLE of your calorie allowance. No wonder America has the highest obesitey rate if you think that "regulate yourself, not others" is ok, when the majority of people don't think to look up calories (people not dieting etc.) I hate all the American chains coming to Britain. I don't want to eat a 2000 calorie meal without realising thanks. Also, the information should be on the menu... it is disgusting! |

That was EXACTLY how I felt when I was 14, 15, 16... exactly. It ruins you. You need to change now... It's hard. But when I look back on pictures of me being 14 I WASN'T fat, I was just bigger than my under-developed friends.
You have to find an exercise and eating plan that works for you. It's impossible for me to give you advice, because I know how you're thinking, and telling you to do something, won't help you! However, I started with small steps. I was embarrassed to exercise, so I danced around my room for 30mins/1 hour every night at 8pm. Not only did no one see me exercising (my biggest fear was what they would think), but the 8pm time meant no picking at food after dinner. And the exercise sometimes curbed my "fake binge" appetite. Also, I LOVE dancing in my crazy 80s style, so it was fun, and I knew it was better than sitting on my arse. I also sometimes went for a 10 minute walk around my block (I say block, but I'm in England, and we don't have "blocks", but it was basically a circular route back to my house - up a hill at the end). It started off taking me 15 mins. As for the eating. That's always an ongoing battle. I wish there was some magic way of stopping, but there isn't. Recently I've been trying to eat for pure health reasons - macrobiotic and all that (I have other problems that may be helped by my diet). When I appreciated the food, and understood that it was all natural, I felt content. At the moment I've just thought f it. What's the point, and have been eating my cheese and my milk and my chocolate and my *insert un-macrobiotic food here*... I need to strike a balance between both. I'm all or nothing at the moment, like you... and we can never succeed like that. You are young (I know, how patronising, but hear me out) Not only are you going to grow (inside, not just up), so you need those "curves" to grow into and to help you grow, but also, now's the time to change if you need to. It's so hard when you're 14 because you have effing school and all that bollocks, and social pressure... But you can do it. xx sorry this hasn't been much help, because honestly, I don't have answers to any of your problems... they are for you to find out for yourself... and you will xx |

One of my friends on here, who is also a mod, has been following this diet recently I think... If you look it up, it's not as extreme as it sounds out of context. HOWEVER, I don't think I'd be able to do it... I think there are lots of other things involved, not just an extreme zig-zag of cals...
To the OP - Are you on this diet? If you are, perhaps you could let people know how it's going, and maybe give some useful links to those wanting to read more about it (who can't be bothered to look it up, haha.) Why are you on it? And do you find it better than just CC alone?? If the answer is no - I take it you are researching it in order to find out more, which is great - make sure you do your research properly to avoid endangering your health. xx |

I'm sorry, I have completely NO idea about the calories... However, I LOVE CHILLI NOOODDDLLEESSS and wagamama's, when I can afford to go (stupid being a student *mumbles incoherently*...)
ANYWAY. I have Udon noodles at home, and when I boil a medium portion they come to about 400 cals, so I'm guessing your estimate is about right?? I wouldn't think any more than that... You should defo try making it at home - living in London you actually have JAPANESE supermarkets instead of crummy Chinese ones (no offence, but it's hard to find all the stuff you need in the chinese ones... I order online from London, cos I'm lame...) Even so, you can obviously still find Japanese noodles in Chinese supermarkets and then make something tasty!! YUMMY. I am so. hungry....

| Foods | McChicken - Convince me from NOT having one tonight! | Dec 23 2007 10:17 (UTC) |
19 |
Once, a woman found a chicken beak in her mcnuggets. Also, when some chickens were rescued from a maccy d's farm, along with other ailments such as injuries from being trapped in their own feeders, they had 8 miscellaneous illnesses... what the hell's that all about?! Mcdonald's are fascists. But if you're not like me, and just care about the actual meal, not really what's inside it, then you could go for it I suppose... I mean, it's 340 calories which is fine for one meal. The sodium might temporarily push the scale up though - just a warning - drink alot of water!! Wouldn't it be better to just get some free range chicken breast (in breadcrumbs?) and some wholemeal baps with seeds, and just make your own burger? With parsnip and potato chips (I'm from England, so I mean chips in the THICK FRIES or whatever sense of the word...) You could chop em yourself and bake in the oven at 200c for 45 minutes with a little reduced fat butter on each. AND you could have it with a delicious crunchy salad!! Ohhh... I want it now, and it's 10am!! haha. |
