Hi there. I'm also looking for people to keep me motivated. Our situations are different... but I'm available to help keep you moving in the right direction if you are able to help keep me in line too ;o) Losing the weight is one thing... keeping it off is another. I've have smaller ups and downs... but to go back up the rollercoaster is hard, especially after going down. What is your plan to get your body healthy again? Are you tracking your calories and drinking a LOT of water?? Hope you are well and hanging in there... |

| Health & Support | Do you think it is possible to love yourself without being skinny? | Nov 30 2008 19:26 (UTC) |

If its only what I see in the mirror that I disagree with, meaning I'm a caring, positive, suportive and honest person... Yes, I can accept and love myself. If I were not the other non-physical things... I would have a much hard time accepting myself. I, along with many on cc, want to lose a bit of weight... however no one will ever be perfect-- and thats not a bad thing. Variety is the spice of life... and attaining a healthier weight (whether losing some or gaining some) will help keep your life a longer less complicated medically one. Look to be the best you can in all you do and self acceptance and love will follow. btw--good question ;) |

hello all... been doing better exercise wise, thanks to Zumba with coworkers 2x/week... (www.zumba.com) Lots of fun and the busy hour goes by pretty fast. I've been getting in exercise (pilates) one other time/week on Fridays. So... yeah- something in this area is going right.Food/calorie wise i've been up and down.. but am doing well at the moment. (sigh) consistency goal... in 12 weeks I will be getting my 64 ounces of water/non-caloric drink in everyday, will do my cardio exercise 2x/wk (M, W) and my pilates 2x/wk (F, Sun). I've been doing close to this lately... but would like to think it's a habit that will have stuck 12 weeks from now. Hope all are wel and hanging in there... |

So... I'm still on the preverbial wagon... but not currently seeing many results. Going to get the Hungry Girl cookbook this weekend and try out a few dishes. Hope all are well... til next time..............

Welcome miriam! Glad you found us. Sounds like you are doing well... taking 2 little ones to a workout room sounds tough-- but you are making it work. Good for you-- and them. They will see a good example. Considering we all are busy parents and workers... keeping up in here isn't always easy. I'll add you as a friend - if you don't mind. If you keep a journal I'll make comments to help you along. Have a good weekend! Ciosa |

hmmm ... I also need to figure out a reward to staying on plan?... supersized sure does keep track of all of this so well (thx!!). When I get to 160-- I'll get a spa pedicure -- when I get to 155 I get a spa pedicure/manicure -- when I get to 150 -- I'll go out and buy new clothes as I'll be at my goal weight! When I'm able to maintain 150 x 6 months I'll plan a trip out of town... maybe to fam/friends in Phoenix :) Sounds motivating to me... and it's me who it has to motivate so that's good. |

so I should make a "why I'm going to stick with my weight loss plan, plan". 1) because I'm tired of being annoyed by 15 extra pounds 2) I'm tired of looking at a closet of clothes knowing only 25% fits right 3) I want to be a good example for my dd and 4) so I can be healthy and in shape again. Lately I've been exercising for 30 minutes and whew I'm dizzy. I'm only 33 and 165#-- I should be able to hang a lot longer than that. Those are my motivators... as well as the friends I've met along the way (including you supersized... your effort to keep this going is helping -- so thanks!) |

Sounds like everyone is doing fairly well. Sorry copper-- a train in Alaska sounded somewhat more romantic I've been doing well. Focusing more on the exercise part of losing weight than the counting of calories. Have found a few ways to fit in time (waking 30 minutes early; walking/lifting weights at work x30 min during lunch). Nothing has happenned everyday or everytime... but it's definitely more than it was Hmmm... a new challenge? I'd love to hear some ideas... my current difficult times for food are weekends and evenings. But it's a boredom thing I guess.... as well as a habit. Sorry-- no ideas for challenges here.... hope others pipe in with some Happy Friday all... hope all are keeping |

A consistency plan... Well I have been focusing on diet and not doing so well. Really good w/ really bad days. My exercise routine has recently been "revamped" from nothing to something. So-- I'm definitely in the right place to make a true plan. Here's my plan-- a) eat within calorie range 6 days a week with one day a week up to 300 calories more b) exercise x30 minutes 3x/wk x4 weeks then 4x/wk from then on. (I'm going to post this in my profile... so hopefully it will keep me on track) hope others have their seat belts on and are on the wagon /;) |

since you were able to do it once... I'm sure you remember how to do it again. You sound motivated and ready to get back down again. Stick with it and I'm sure you will see results again. Also.. btw.. I too eat when stressed. Seems a connection to me that if you are sad/bored... if you eat something (especially something sweet) it make you feel better. I am looking for alternative ways to manage that... and am considering st. johns wort for mood boosting. Just my 2cents... I'm here if you want to team up. feel free to add me as a friend and I'll add you back |

Copper- I too agree with bran that Alaska does sound beautiful and lately, the the 90's - 100's heat we've been having in the southwest-- I'd love a chance to be on a train in Alaska. Nicci-- Paris-- wow! I'd love to go to the museums there... dh though would rather go to russia! UGH! I too would love information you could pass from the nutritionist. :) Bran-- welcome back. Good to see you here... thanks for the information about yourselffitness.com. I'll check it out. Nurse-- hang in there. Get in 15 minutes here and there and it will add up. :) Our trip to NM was fine. 4 1/2 drive through deserty/mountaineous country to Albuquerque. Swam 2x in the hotel pool, walked around a zoo/aquarium x5 hours, rode a camel, ate at a brazillian bbq and came back. Fun family time... although I am feeling after a week home with dh that I could use some girl time. Planning a trip to the movies tomorrow with 2 gals from work and my dd to see Wall-E. Should be fun. Dh to go to a bar to watch UFC fights with friends. I often go along, but am looking for a little space... so made movie plans. I'm back and ready to be concious of what I'm eating again... have held my weight even at 165 (5'5") Doing ok today so far... but have a bbq set for this afternoon and I'm bringing frosted cupcakes and a salad (cupcakes-- Ugh! It was a request-- going to try and only have a 1/2 of one and keep the other junk out of my system... and that's why I need to bring a salad. Wish me luck!) Happy 4th all... take care.. |

| Pregnancy & Parenting | How do I get my four year old to eat real food? | Jul 01 2008 05:29 (UTC) |

If you child is of average size (not too big/too small e.g. the pediatrician is not worried about his size) I'm all for the having the take it or leave it rule. (worked for me as a child, works for our daughter who also happens to be 4). Cook healthy and if they are hungry they will eat. If you child has a history of reflux (projectile vomitting, his pediatrician IS concerned regarding his weight; complaints of pain in chest after eating) than this is a more complicated issue. Consider going to the pediatrician and asking for a feeding therapy evaluation. Done by either/or a speech therapist or an occupational therapist with hopeful inclusion of a dietician. There may be physical and or sensory reasons you child is picky. That all said... I for one do not like the-- you get dessert if you eat all of your food. Surely a child shouldn't get dessert without having dinner... but dessert shouldn't be a reward. Dessert is for special occasions and should be a rarity offered only when a child has other adequate nutrition. Otherwise... dessert is a privalege, given to make us happy, held higher than other foods when cherished -- and will lead our children down our same path of issues with weight/food/calories ;) |

have had some internet/computer issues. thankfully we have 2 computers... although the one that is newer, faster etc crashed... and this one needed some work. That work, is now completed and I'm online again. I'm still on the eat healthy, conscious look at what I'm eating, drink water and get exercise plan, but due to the above have not done much regarding counting. (hard enough to do it online--let alone on paper!) Also--I'm on a week vacation (I needed one!)... and we are leaving town tomorrow for 3 days/2 nights. I'll be concious of my food choices-- but not too rigid. It is a vay cay right? Hope all are well... Ciosa |

spook-I'll have to remember your pack a cooler idea for car trips. dd and I are going on a 4 hour trip in a little over a week. Going to be staying at a La Quinta though... as they have fresh fruit as part of their breakfast and that should help... with replenishing our snacks for the day. Also-- glad to hear the logging in is enlightening. I've been slacking off... but am trying to at least eat healthy. branblow--I hear you about starbucks. I get a small (whatever they call it?) sugarfree, fat free cinammon dolche latte and it does the trick. Not sure how many calories. copper--I cant live without my am coffee either. Like what drea mentioned... I get the sugar free creamers (in the refrig. section) as they have less calories than the non-fat... and I add some of that as well as some of my skim milk and I'm set for a fairly low fat drink. drea--I;ll have to try your frappachino version. Tried one similiar from hungrygirl.com. |

Hello... checking in. I've been off again/on again with my calorie counting. Trying to primarily eat fewer processed foods and keep the sweets to 1x/day. I've been crazy at work... but it should settle and I will be getting my foods in check real soon. Sara...thanks for the reminders to stay with the program... it does help! You are awesome! The topic... emotional eating and my triggers... I definitely am and eat when bored or stressed. I need to make that switch to drink water and exercise when bored or stressed.... but the switch seems to be stuck. I only have 15 to lose... got to get it in gear so I can infact lose those 15! |

hello all... it was my idea to log/track and I've been the worst of them all. Had a mini-crisis (friend in hospital) as well as work stress... so I haven't been logging in the calories. Hope it's helping others... I'm honestly not sure how long I'll be keeping up with calorie counting. Find it a bit tedious and makes me focus on food more than I already obsess about it. I may keep up with my journal-- but not sure how much actual calorie counting I'm going to keep doing. I'm going to eat well... and not too much... but logging in everything is hard to keep up with on a daily basis. Kudos to all of you gals that have been able to keep on the wagon!

Welcome Drea99!! I'll add you to my buddy list... and if you keep a journal -- I'll make comments. Tomorrow... or maybe you can think of it as tonight at midnight... we are going to log in all calories eaten. (I've purchased a little bitty notebook to help my failing memory). High calories...low calories... whatever it is... log and post... just be honest. Maybe we'll get some sort of awareness of where/when our pitfalls are. Also...please post daily if at all possible. |

tracking food religiously would be a cool challenge. I'm good about it when I've eaten within my means...and terrible (i.e. don't do at all) when I've eaten over my plan of calories. Who would be willing to commit to track and post all caloried eaten for the next work week -- this coming Monday til the next Sunday? June 16-23rd?? Say log in... get your analysis and post here the pie chart, grade and calories part. Even if we go over...or get poor grades... to just be honest about it and put it out there... to help increase the awareness throughout the day?? Please reply by Sunday night... if you are in... and don't worry if you'd rather sit out. |

hmmm... interesting copper...challenges?? A challenge or goal of the group. Let's see... who's around?... ciosa1020; coppertop_4; spookrepitus; branblow; runningbellydancer; nursewratchet75. I think that is all so far... 7 people. What are peoples hardest areas? getting time/energy for enough exercise? That and staying motivated are mine. ?? I'm open for ideas...and am not the best planner. We used to worry about and watch the housekeeper like crazy... but in August it will be 2 years she's been with us and for the last year or so -- she's had her own key and comes when we are at work. We definitely do trust her... and are planning to keep her around for quite sometime. It's the norm here... that working Mom's have one. Guess that's why it's casual. She does get raises...and lavish birthday/christmas gifts. She's sweet... and does a much better job than I ever did. Anywho... off to watch a movie (in house... dd sleeping)... with dh. hope all are well... |

I;m glad to see my quest for finding other working Moms was a success. My saving grace though is a woman named Marybel. We live on Mexico/USA border... and she helps me with the house for 45$/week. She buses 2 hours each way to my home... for this $. She does it all. That's all the cleaning of the house plus laundry. It's easily the best $ I spend a week...and it allows me to enjoy my family. I know for those of you that are trying to keep up with homes... it's so much harder. Too bad I can't clone my Marybel. copper... your plan of attach regarding work snacks is so much like mine!! We have similiar palates. I'm always looking for new low cal ideas though... please feel free to offer up new ideas... that goes for anyone in the group til next time... keep on keeping on and keep your goals in sight. I even wrote an "anonymous" 145 on a sticky on on my computer at work... so I could remember at work. |

hmmm... i know what I want... but why? 1. to show my figure with figure flattering clothes and not be embarrassed of my belly. 2. lead by example to our daughter. (she, at 4 already knows that junk food is bad for your heart) 3. to be happy to have pictures of me in my scrapbook rather than find ones that I'm not too embarrassed of. 4. to go to a waterpark and enjoy a full day without feeling the need for a coverup. 5. to look for shirts that don't drift away from the middle, have empire waist and/or elastic to hide unpleasant areas. 6. to be in shape and healthy so I can live to see my grandbabies and travel Europe w/ my dh when we are old. |

guess the question of the week was about cravings... I find that i can usually find a low fat low calorie version that will work. Thankfully I'm not too picky about chocolate and cookies.... which is the one thing I crave the most. I get the grab and go type of things... 100 calorie packs of cookies, chocolate, icecream bars etc. I'm a skinny cow fan for sure. I've just barely gotten back on the wagon... after a jump hop and skip off a couple of months ago. I'm tired of the nagging pounds and the closet that looks so much better when I'm a size 6-8 rather than 10-12. I've adjusted some goals...and am going to make it this time! 20 pounds is doable... especially when I see so many others lose much more! Anyone here know the sodium recommendations? I cant find it and I remember last time that I was on board this wagon... I had to watch that pretty close. thx in advance... |

Welcome to you both!! I will add you as friends if that is ok?? Feel free to add me and/or post here! spook... We do seem to have a lot in common - cool! Are you babies with family or in a day care? My daughter is in a church daycare/preK that we are very pleased with. My hubby is in the moving industry and currently working 60+ hours a week... 80 would be hard. copper... I definitely think that if you care for, buy for, clean for, organize for etc that they definitely do count! Also.. are you ready for such a change in schedule! Sounds better (at least to me) but may be hard to juggle. How old are your step kids? How do you manage working 100 hours/week! Glad to hear your eating habits are going strong. Any tips you'd like to share. Easy prepared is all good w/me!
