Thanks for continuing to post your experiences with P90X, i am on day four and really enjoying the work outs thus far. i haven't spent alot of time going thru the diet/menu book but i already eat 5 times per day, and aim for 50% protein, 40% carb 10%fat. That's what my previous trainer had me doing, i will go through the diet book this weekend and make some tweaks if i can. On day three (yesterday) i went for my regular Wed early morning run, followed by spin - it didn't seem to effect my performance during my after work stab at shoulder, arms and abs - now that's a work out!! i definetely need to up some of the weights, but being it was the first time doing the tape, i will be more comfortable "bringing it" harder next time around! |

| Excellent! i just did my first workout today. I am going to do the Lean program - hard to choose between it and the classic. Started off with core syth and it was a pretty good workout. i couldn't keep up with them on every excercise and some exercises i couldn't do very many reps, but made it through the whole tape and am ready for tomorrow! | |||

Thanks for the replies thus far. i do hope to compliment some of my current work out with the P90X - but i guess i won't know forsure until i try it. i currently workout in the early am and was planning on doing the P90X after work, but i may actually have to substitute my am workout with the P90X. We'll see.
erclark2 - after 5 weeks are you seeing some measurable results? |

i too love fish - often grill it, but sometimes fry it - with low-cal spray rather than butter or oil, some lemon juice and cajun seasoning - on low temperature and yummy! |

too me it looks like you need to eat more protein - that is eat it, don't drink it in a shake. Shakes are a good supplement but they won't fill you up for long. Egg whites, turkey or chicken breast, tuna, fish, etc. Too keep your metabolism up try and eat 5 to 6 times per day, with some amount of protein in each meal. |

I was recommended this site http://www.t-nation.com/readArticle.do?id=152 6539&cr= Which basically says you should be doing 3 hours of weight training per week - for sure. Any extra hours you have to supplement your fitness regime should be cardio - the article breaks down amount of interval vs steady state cardio |

Canned meats - tuna, salmon, chicken - all great grab and goes. Cottage cheese. You can get some canned soups that are reduced sodium. Stay away from the creamed soup. I often microwave frozen veggies with a little bit of water, takes like 3 mins. Oatmeal - instant packages, just watch the calories - and just add boiling water or microwave. Good quick breakfast. Add a side of egg whites, and you have a pretty good breakfast. you can buy cartons of egg whites, i put them in the microwave - 1.20 mins - add salsa or fresh veggies. Eat like that or add to a wrap or pita. |

hey there, I returned to this program after my christmas break - of which i did some exercise at home but ate more than i should and am up two pounds. Pre- christmas and again now i am really enjoying this workout program - i am continually able to up my weights and achieve more reps in the kettle ball swing. Down a few inches, but still not losing any pounds. I am working on modifying my diet.

we will be having a rehearsal dinner the nite before the wedding - we have opted to go with a bbq style function in my parents back yard. I can provide salads and other veggies as well as a variety of meat/meatless burgers, etc. Since my fiance is Ukraniun - there will also be perogies and cabbage rolls! |

Original Post by rainforestgirl: I had a heck of a time cake shopping - i had a vision of what i wanted it to look like and it was going to cost $400 to 600 - i just couldn't bring myself to spend that on a cake that is basically just for a picture and barely anyone eats it (since the cutting will immediately follow supper - which comes with dessert). So, i have convinced my baker to make me a fake cake - it is styrofoam and decorated exactly how i wanted it and then i will cut up a slab cake to serve. The fake cake is costing me 60 bucks - i get 25 back upon return and they are putting it on display and the slab will probably be about 70 bucks - pending size!! |

| Good advice from some posters on taking it slow. When i transitioned from evening to morning workouts i started by getting up 10 or 20 mins earlier then normal - getting in a quick workout and everyday bumped that up 5 mins. I definetely go to bed earlier and am sometimes still tired in mid afternoon at work - but if i watch what i eat i seem to be ok. | |||

| i don't have any other suggestions - although there are a few i may try. However, i am seconded the tuna and salsa - that's mainly how i eat it and it rocks. Tuna melts on rye bread are good as well, if you can fit a bit of cheese into your diet. Mix tuna with either salsa or mayo, put some shredded cheese on it and throw in toaster oven. | |||

i too am an early morning exerciser. it got to be habit and if i don't work out in the mornign i know feel a bit sluggish throughout the day. I use to think i would workout right after work, but then i am tired or other commitments come up. I am at the gym by 5 am when it opens 3 days per week and 5:30 two day per week for spin class that starts a 6 am. It does get easier and it is a great way to start the day. i just have to make sure i am organized the nite before - my breakfast is planned, my lunch is made and ready to pack, my gym cloths are laid out and so are my work cloths. Pending on the planned work out - i usually shower the nite before to wash and dry my hair and then after my work out i have a quick bath to clean up, then get ready for work. or shower at the gym - with or without a shower cap - pending your time and how long it takes you to get ready. |

Please count me in ! My wedding date is Sept 20th, 2008. I have been on CC since sept 07 - slacking off in Dec. I work out 5 days per week and have not lost a pound! CC tells me to eat 1800- 1900 calories per day; i eat about 1500. don't know if i should up it or down it. anyways, i have lost some inches - so that's good. I would love to lose the 20 lbs i gained in the last year, but my goal is 40 or 50 lbs. I currentlly am at 192 and am 5'6". Good luck to everyone!

That's great that the food won't be an issue. I am not a fan of baking, so safe that way, but like appie type stuff - will try to avoid. Yah, spin only offered in the morning's on Monday and Wednesday and i don't work out on the weekends. if i don't do RFFL Tuesday/Thrusday/Friday i won't get the 3 works outs in in a one week period. Will see how i feel after the christmas break and make changes then. |

Thanks for the encouragement about inches vs scale! Agh the calories - i keep being told to eat more, but it is definetely a mind over matter thing. Maybe after the new year. Maybe cycling the calories through high and lows - i don't that takes too much planning for me. No i am not doing RFFL 5 days/week. Schedule: Monday: Spin Class - consisting of 30 mins spin, 15 mins core Tuesday:RFFL Wednesday: Spin Class - consisting of 30 mins spin, 15 mins lite weight training or 45 mins spin Thru and Frid: RFFL One problem is that i am at the gym by 5am, and haven't been sleeping well - so that doesn't help. I guess i could drop one of the spin classes - but i have stayed because i really enjoy them. I am definetely taking a break over the holidays - will do pilates or power 90 videos. Can you take dumbbells to your parents - you could do most of the exercises? and then go for a brisk walk/run? I am getting enough protein - sometimes more than i need. i eat 5 times per day and ensure to have protein with each meal. Thanks again for the advice and encouragement. All the best over the holidays. If all else fails and work outs don't fit - try and watch what you eat!! LOL - so much easier to say then do - especially at Christmas. |

yes, i am pleased with the lost inches, i find myself getting down when i weigh myself and see little to no lose - so i am staying off the scales for a few weeks - especially since it is Xmas. I hear yah on the calories - i consume between 1600 and 1700 per day, sometimes 1500. CC says 1900 is my maintainence - and i am not losing weight, i can't imagine what would happen if i didn't work out?! I think i hit fatigue today - i did my 7th workout yesterday, Workout A 5x5 - when i got home to get ready for work i feel asleep, i was sooooo tired. Then i went this moring - 8th workout B, 4x10 and absolutely could not do the kettle ball exercise - i was just too bagged. My gym is either closed or open for wierd hours from now til New Years - i might take a break from this workout over the next week and work out at home. maybe working out 5 days in a row is catching up to me?? But i just can't committ to get there on the weekend and i really feel like i need to work out 5days/wk. |

That would be frustrating to see an increase in inches and BF when this is suppose to be a fat loss work out. I took a quick thigh measurement after reading your post - i had lost 2 inches on each thigh since Nov 1, now gained one back - but it was right after my spin class so i am attributing it to that. Are you eating to maintain or lose? i am trying to cut out a few more of my starchy carbs and replace with veggies - hopefully that will force some weight loss. i work out so hard, but the weight stays the same. i am ususally torn between eating more or eating less. |

I am sure that using dumbbells would be harder on your forearms for that exercise. Ahh Vacation hey? that would nice right about now. In regards to tracking i quit weighing myself a couple of weeks ago - have gotten very frustrated with the scale not moving. Will get on it this Friday - however i have been taking measurements and have seen some decreases - mostly in the legs, bust and stomach area. Thank god! i know i am getting stronger - i have increased some of the weights - except on 3x15 days - i start with the higher weight, but have to drop back down. I took a BF measurement a couple of months ago - i have calipers at home, that i don't really trust - too subjective to error. But am thinking i should get one taken at the gym soon. And yourself? |

just checkin in, how is the work out going? I have done 6 work outs. I can not believe how many lunges there are to do!! My left quad feels alittle injured/tight not sure, but after about 4 lunges it starts to hurt a bit. Trying to stretch it out. How is your progress going? |

did day 4 -workout B 5x5 today. it was pretty good! increased some of my weights. Tried to do some negatives on the chin ups - can not do it - absolutely kills my shoulders and neck. i modified that execise to squats and abs. After the entire routine is complete i am doing some chin ups on the machine - a bit easier and i hope to develop those muscles so eventually i can do the chin up independently.

i did Day 3 - Work out A 3x15 this morning - wow what a killer! Way too many lunges, i am sure i won't be able to walk tomorrow. i wish it where more squats - i enjoy them more than lunges. i had to modify some of exercise 2c - doing that many reps of extending arms above head was killing my shoulders! - shoulders have been a weak link for me since my car accident - but are getting stronger. Exercise 2b - actually the exercise i currently am enjoying the most! Due to the bending action i feel it in my lower back and then with the rowing motion - i get it inbetween my shoulder blades - but you have to squeeze them. I guess with lots of bending - it might be getting my butt a bit - but after all those lunges who knows. i think you should be able to successful conduct this exercise with dumbbells and have considered it myself - if i were to work out at home. |

hey! just jumping in to say that as i mentioned i did day 2 workout b yesterday - and wow am i stiff today - my back is pretty sore - good sore. I have always worked my legs pretty hard, doing lots of squats, lunges and deadlifts - but am feeling it in a few new spots today. Especially my lower butt! i don't know if i could have done day 3 today?? The reason i asked about the weight amounts is i am not sure sometimes if i am lifting too much or too little for my goals. i know they say girls can't bulk up, but i am pretty strong and seem to be able to lift quite a bit of weight - but really want to lose the underlying fat. Especially in my arms - i don't want them to get bigger without losing that fat. i already have 14 inch arms - and they aren't very flabby, but i hate them and want to lose a couple inches on them.

hey there, i did day two this morning - work out B 4X10 - seemed way harder than Day 1 - must be the increased number of reps. my legs are feeling pretty tight and i absolutely can not do a chin up - i am going to do some reading on how to improve this technique. Just wondering how much weight you guys are using for the exercises? i am able to squat alot more than i can push with my arms - so i am meeting in the middle somewhere and will work on increasing.
I am back found the following sites about chin-ups/pull-ups. (Does it matter which we are doing? Apparently pull-ups are a bit easier??? http://www.intense-workout.com/pull_ups.html The difference between pull ups and chin ups is how you grip the bar. Pull ups are done with your palms facing away from you. Chin ups are done with your palms facing you. Throughout this article I will only use the term "pull ups." However, everything written here applies just as equally to chin ups and really every other grip as well.)http://www.t-nation.com/findArticle.do?articl e=body_100back

That is true - i go to spin every Mond and Wed at 6am - it does get way easier after a few classes and i find it a very invigorating way to start the day! I used to not eat before and would feel sick and starving after - i don't like to eat when i first wake up, but am now eating a special k bar or a yogurt on the way to the gym. i know that it is not much, but i do feel better. Good for you, for getting in a variety of types of exercises.
