Yes! It takes a life time of healthy eating...not spurts. Remember you are in this for the long hall not sprinting. Good luck.

I was a meat eater. It was only by accident and good healthy eating that I discovered how much better I felt when I cut out meat from my diet! I have Fibromyalgia and I discovered that consuming meat and fat products caused more pain. I am not pain free but if I do eat a burger or steak I feel it Ouch!

WOW! I just found out I am a Pescetarian! I never knew there was a name to my eating habits! How the heck do you pronounce this? Surprised

I love this rice recipe! Very simple!

1 cup long grain rice. Not the quick rice.

2 1/4 cups chicken stock

1/4 cup chopped cilantro

3 teaspoons lime juice

Add all to a large glass microwave bowl and mix. Set in microwave and cook on high for 20 minutes.

Yummy! The lime juice gives a very good zip to rice! This is great cold or hot!

Have fun!

Hi chubbygirl82,

I don't think I will ever date again. I would feel so guilty maybe, I am not sure. I am not looking for anyone anyways. I guess it burns me because my friends said they would stick by me....yeah right! I guess I need to make new friends and get on with my life. That is so hard to do because everyone associates me to my Ex! Many people don't know that we have even split up and when I tell them, they are floored! Oh well....Onwards and upwards as the saying goes!

Oh yeah,

I don't think I even remember how to date! LOL! It is more like you said, "dependable companionship." It was not much, but I could count on him for somethings. I think I would be too afraid now-a-days to fill the void with substandard relationships or a substitute companion. Your idea was good but it seems as though family and friends are too busy as well!

Maybe I should go to the mall and a movie!

Do not wash your hair first. Do as the directions advise. If you wash your hair first it may become too dry and damage your hair. You will be fine.

I still cannot use my digital camera and it is only 4 years old! To tell you the truth, I see no difference between windows 98 and vista! Just more money!
Weight Loss Emotional Eating Dec 11 2007

You are doing very good by recognizing your eating habits! I didn't realize I was an emotional eater until I weighted about 300 pounds! Yikes! I had to replace eating with anything that I enjoyed doing to take my mind off the emotion. Then I came back (regrouped my thoughts) and self-talked to myself or someone who would listen. With my soon to be ex-husband, I became an emotional eater. AND AN EMOTIONAL WRECK! I am well on my way to a healthy weight now. Slowly, but steady....

Figuring out the emotions and doing something about it is the key!

Good luck!

I was there already! I did what I was good at. Chances are it's already something you enjoy doing, or you wouldn't be good at it. I am back in college for the second time around at age 50! I love being a Foster mom so I decided to get my degree in Counseling/Social Work. At least this way I am worth my weight in gold! There are many rewards doing a job you enjoy doing and are also good at!

Good luck!

Hi southcaraloniaguy,

Same here! I sure know this is individualized. That is why I love this site! Other wise they would have one diet plan to fit all! LOL! If some one told me this is how it's done and we all had to do it this way, I probably would find a way to make it better or do it differently anyway! I don't like following the same old pattern! That's me.

I think that is why this dieting stuff is so challenging! It keeps me on my toes!

Hi southcarolinaguy! Good for you! Two pounds until you make your goal! Awesome! I do not want to use food as a reward myself. I guess having a cheat day would defeat the purpose. I have a Thyroid problem too, so losing weight is even more difficult. I think your idea is good. I just do not want to ever get stuck as bad as I was prior! I am living proof that "Starvation mode" exists! I lived off of 800-900 calories a day and did not lose one pound! That came from dieting all my life with miss conceptions about calorie restriction. Oiy...That was bad!

starvation mode starts in 10 days to 2 weeks of diet, thats why its recommended to implement a  cheat day after 10 days ,to increase leptin enzymes levels, which help ur body in burning more calories and ur gain is only retention.

What do you think about dieting 6 days on and then giving yourself a cheat day? Will this work as well? The only reason why I ask is because I have been dieting for years. I ended up in starvation mode myself. It took about 8 months for my body to regain normal eating with normal weight gain.  I gained 10 pounds back in 8 months, but I am losing it since starting to diet the right way this time. I just do not want to ever put myself in starvation mode again!

Will giving myself a cheat day keep me from going into starvation mode again? I am eating about 1250-1300 calories a day. I almost lost the 10 pounds I gained back! Cool

I believe your claim would make sense. I have Fibromyalgia and I have read cutting out all red meat and dark cola soda-pops. I am not sure why or how it works but it has helped me. Only do the 10 days worth because your body needs other nutrients.

Make sure all your veggies are organic and this would be even better!

Original Post by jen32966:   Been there done that too! Foot in mouth

If I'm the last person to leave work I have to double check the back door that it is locked at least a few times. And as I'm leaving the front- and locking it- I have to say out loud- "locking door"- otherwise when I get to my car I will wonder if I locked the door. I've been known to get out of my car and walk back to make sure that the door is locked. And when I turn the alarm on I repeat what the voice says- then I know I turned the alarm on- and I have to check at least a few times that the answering machine is turned on- I would probably check more but I close with another co-worker and I don't want them to think I'm that crazy.  I have also been known to drive almost all the way back to work to make sure that the door was locked and that I did turn the alarm on! Luckily- I only live 10 minutes from work....

I also count stairs when I'm walking up and down them- but usually in my head.   And if I'm waiting for an appointment in a doctor office- I will look up at the ceiling and count either ceiling tiles or the little holes.   But I was never that good in math so I don't know why I have a little obsession with counting things...or if there are different colors in a room I will go back and forth and say the different colors in my head- like, brown, green, red, brown, green, red...

I don't need an alarm clock though- I can just mentally tell myself before bed what time I want to wake up and I usually wake up at that exact time or a little earlier.  I know that isn't ocd but I think it is a great power.

Oh yeah,,,I forgot counting for me too! I even look at license plates and have them go over and over in my head! At my last job I did the same thing with the doors! Oiy...I better stop now!

LOL!

  1. I have to sleep with ear plugs in. My soon to be Ex snored so bad nothing helped. He is gone now but the ear plugs stuck! Surprised I mean...I take them out during the day! LOL!
  2. I check all my doors to make sure they are locked at night! Sometimes two or three times!
  3. Before I can fall a sleep, my pillow needs to be just so and even the pillow case opening needs to be towards the inside of the bed!
  4. Oh here is another one! The toilet paper roll in the roller needs to be able to pull the paper from the top. When I clean I fold it into a nice triangle just like the motels do!

I had a client with this disorder and he would lock his car door, walk to the front bumper of his car, go back to the key hole and open the door again, lock it again and walk three times around his car like a chinese fire drill! Then made sure he locked the car door again! Now that is OCD! It drove me crazy!

Original Post by nomoreexcuses: this is funny... because no one has said that they're offended and kept to that position.... so far, everyone has said that they're OK with whatever greeting is offered to them...

It's a long thread. Start at the beginning and you'll see them.

i.e. "Well, for me Jesus doesn't exist and you telling me Merry CHRISTmas would be as offensive as me calling you stupid for believing in him."

I was the first to propose that however you want to greet me is fine. It still is.

nomoreexuces wasn't expressing offense at "Merry Christmas", but rather at coffee's emphasis on saying "Merry CHRISTmas", which changes a friendly and festive holiday greeting into some sort of loaded political challenge and religious test.  Correct me if I'm wrong, nomorexcuses.

Excuse me udokier! I was not implying any negative challenge to how one says Merry Christmas. I would not intentionally say it negatively just to get someone angry! I am better than that! Lets not start this whole thread all over again! And again for the record...I would say Happy Holiday's, Happy ( whatever) to be nice and wish them back the same. I would also say Merry Christmas when ever I had the opportunity.
