It's water weight. Like nike said, you would have to have eaten an extra 7000 calories in those 2 days to gain two pounds of fat. I fluctuate by 2 pounds all the time. It's usually on days that I have eaten more processed foods. All I have to do is really watch the sodium for the next couple days, be sure I get some good exercise in and I go right back down to my original weight. |

You are simply not eating enough calories. If you calculate your BMR base on your age, weight and height you need 1475 calories if you were laying in bed all day. You are probably burning at least 2300 calories when you are exercising which means you have more than a 1000 calorie deficit per day. The maximum you should have is 1000 and since you are not severly overweight, you should really only have a 500 calorie deficit a day. Which means that you should be eating at least 1600-1800 calories a day. I agree that you should try posting in the weight loss forum. There are a lot of people that have great information there. |

Name: Jennie Final Weigh In – June 30: 154.1 I'm not concerned - we went on a long trip this weekend and I have been really tired and not exercising consistently. I know as soon as I get back into my routine it will come off quickly because it's mostly water weight. On another note - thanks akgirl for posting this challenge. It's helped a lot. I won't be back for a while as my husband hope to be pregnant this month with our fourth and final. Can't worry about losing weight for the next 10 months so I'll be over on the Pregnancy and Parenting forum!! This challenge has helped me get past my plateau. I only had 10 more lbs to get to where I wanted to be, but now that will have to wait until next year. Good luck everyone!! |

I give blood as often as I can. My work actually has a mobile bus come out 4 times a year so I at least give that often. Working full time and having three kids makes it diffucult to get to the blood bank, so this has been great for me. I remember growing up as a kid and going to the blood bank with my mom when she would donate. I hope to pass on this great responsibility to my own kids. |

Name: Jennie Final Weigh In – June 30: I am so psyched at how well the weight is coming off. I was down to this weight last summer, then changed jobs and started working more leaving less time for exercise. I got back in to my routine at the beginning of the year and it's finally paying off. It's amazing how fas 10 pounds goes on and how slow it comes off. Circuit training is helping a lot. I did Jillian Michaels No More Trouble Zones this morning and could hardly move afterward. It is a fabulous work out for home, I don't belong to a gym - costs too much. |

Excercise during pregnancy also helps you lose the weight faster after pregnancy and helps you recover faster - after having 3 - I would not go through pregnancy without exercising!! |

I had trouble with my second also and my doctor gave me a fertility drug. Only had to take it one month and got pregnant. I've heard of women on fertility drugs having higher chances of multiples, but it might depend on the dose or how long you take it. I didn't have multiples. I would talk with your doctor and see what he/she might suggest because there may be other issues that are causing you not to conceive. |

Hi everyone and welcome to all the new ones. Haven't posted in a while, been too busy. But have kept up on the reading and posted a picture of my three boys :D I'm getting a little frustrated - been stuck at 154 for a couple weeks. Don't know if it's just because I've lost some motivation (probably due to PMSing) or if I've actually hit a plateau. I'm still doing my workouts every day, just getting tired of having food rule my life!! I hate all the cravings I get when I'm PMSing, sometimes is impossible to take my mind off it and tend to go overboard :P I'm with you reneeb, I try to keep my calories to 1500 because I generally burn 2000-2200 depending on activities. However, I've been eating up to 1700-1800 lately, which still isn't too bad. Don't stress too much about the 200, it's probably just water weight from upping your calories. It will probably level off in a couple days. Shellamy - my boys love exercising with their dad. I get my workouts in at 5am - too early for them. but my husband goes out after dinner and our 8 yo jogs with him and our 5yo rides his bike. They are always pushing him to go, which is great motivation for my hubby :) Have a good Friday everyone!! :) |

Hi all - and welcome all the new ladies. Oh man was it hot today!!! Didn't even want to do anything, which wasn't an option since two of my boys had swimming lessons and one had a baseball game. We hit 98 today I think and it was humid, which we usually don't get here in the NW. I finally hit the 20lb mark!!!! I just want to tell you all to stick with it, YOU CAN DO IT. There are so many days that I think I've had enough - I don't want to watch what I eat. I just want to eat whatever I feel like (which usually isn't anything good..!!) But then I remember how it feels to put my clothes on and see that they are getting too big. And pretty soon I can go buy new ones....lol!! That's the part I'm really excited about. 14lbs to go and I know I can get there. |

for strength training I love using a resistance band. It came with a thing that you can close in a door and I can use it anywhere. You can buy one anywhere and some of them probably come with instruction videos for training routines. I really like it because I don't have to mess with the weights, I can adjust the resistance by how far out I am from the door. And building muscle will really help you lose the last few pounds you want. It will also help define and tone your body, so you may find you are happy where you are once you start getting that muscle tone. |

Welcome all you new ladies musicismydestiny - I'm a couple inches taller (5'6") and burn about the same calories as you on my workout days. I agree with manta that you probably aren't eating enough calories on those days. I aim for a 500-700 deficit on my work out days and so far have been losing weight steadily. It may be a little different for you but hang in there and you'll start losing!! I also do about 20 minutes of strenght training four days a week. I alternate arms and legs every day and I just use a resistance band at home. It works really great. I have really noticed a change my muscle tone, especially on my arms. ladykelien - I am with you and trying to yourself and the kids healthy. My family has a history of high blood pressure and diabetes and I'm trying to nip it in the bud now so I don't end up with it. I have and 8 year old boy that weighs just over 90 lbs. Granted he's pretty tall for his age, but still not healthy. We have been learning about portion sizes and when he's not in sports, he's been jogging with his dad. My husband is about 250 - at least 50 lbs overweight. I started (this time) at 175 in December and if I weighed in at 154 this morning!!! I was so excited. I lost 15 lbs really easy to start and had been on a plateau for about 4 months until I really started exercising more and counting calories. Best of luck to you!!! ajazzymama - congratulations on your weight loss to date!! that's great. With three kids and work and kids sports I can understand trying to fit in exercise. I also get up at 5am while dad and kids are sleeping, otherwise I would never have time. I don't run, so can't help you there, but keep working at it and you'll get there!! Good luck with your 10-15 llbs!!! I would also like to lose about 15 more. Hoping I can do it without hitting a plateau!!! nillytoots - congratulations on your weight loss also!! Isn't it a wonderful feeling when you can fit into something better. I was actually able to button a pair of pants this morning without "sucking it in"!! I'm hoping five more pounds and I can actually go down a size. You will be a great example to your girls!! You keep on track and they will follow and it will be second nature for them, they won't even think a thing of it. I know with my boys I want them to understand the exercise and eating healthy is just part of everyday life, not something you only have to do to lose weight. That's why I'm glad to be starting this now also. |

I agree with morrighu, if you don't satisfy your craving, you'll go crazy - at least I do!! :) I crave chocolate, so I stock up on chocolate protein bars, I get my chocolate and 12 grams of protein to help keep me full. I also will drink more water or a protein drink. |

Hi everyone, been at least a week since I've been on reading posts. My youngest sister graduated from high school last Saturday and we now have kids baseball games M-Th @ 6pm. Barely have time to get home from work to get to games. Hoping I can get meals planned this weekend to take with us to games so we are not eating out a lot. So if anyone has any ideas, it would be greatly appreciated. I'm also very excited!!! I have one more pound to lose to get to 155, which will make 20 lbs since December. Then I only have 15 to go. Hoping I can lose that pound next week. Welcome everyone since then. Shyran, you and I sound very much a like. I aslo have small hips and carry all my weight around my mid-section. I also have a desk job (Accountant) and have had difficulties getting motivated to work-out (I have 3 boys!). I also think I can do everything on my own and hesitated joining a group, but you guys are great!! I love all the encouragement and support. I have recently decided that exercise is going to be part of my life for the rest of my life if I want to lose weight and maintain it. Once I made that decision, it was easier for me to get up at 5am every morning to fit my work out in. It's really hard to start, but gets easier. Lynn, you look great!! I'm not brave enough to get my picture taken let alone post online. Can't even remember the last time I had my picture taken. |

tracyaudette - I carry my weight the same places you did. Can be really frustrating when that's probably the last place I'll lose it. Have already noticed the loss on my arms and legs, but middle section is moving very slowly. lulufit - I know exactly what you mean about feeling fat in high school. At 5'6" and 130 I felt fat all the time and now I would give anything to get back there. For exercise I love to just get out and walk - at leat 60 minutes. When the weather's bad, I have an elliptical machine I use for at least 60 minutes also. I also do strength exercises with a resistance band, alternating arms and legs each day. Sunday I cut back to 30 minutes because I always hear it's good to have a day of rest, but I don't want to have to cut my calories back too much. I usually aim for 1600-1700 for calorie intake. |

lynnhaslost - my boys do keep my very busy. I get up at 5am to get my workout in because other wise it won't happen. The 8 and 5 year old are very active anyway - always playing outside - but they are also in every sport imaginable - soccer, basketball, wrestling, baseball, swimming. They have really taken to my wanting to get healthy and doing a great job themselves making healthier food choices. I understand all of you who have husbands who need to eat better. Mine actually started running a couple weeks ago, but still thinks he can eat whatever he wants. His dad is diabetic and has high blood pressure, so it's something my hubby needs to watch out for. I'm hoping the exercise will motivate him to eat better. It does for me. This morning was really hard to get up cuz I was so tired, but I know I always feel better after I get going. I have started telling myself that exercise is not just so I can lose weight now, but something I need to do the rest of my life to stay healthy. When I look at it that way, it's makes it a little easier to get up. |

I'm up for it. I just started back on this site last month. Had a baby 17 months ago and recently decided it was time to start losing again. I'm also 32, 5'6", 157 lbs, would like to get down to 130, but realistically aiming for 140. I have lost 18 lbs to date since December, hit a plateau and trying to work through it. Increasing my exercise has helped a lot, but some days are really difficult. |

I'm like you, I get up at 5am. I have three kids and it's almost impossible to fit it in anywhere else. I'm lucky that my neighborhood is lit and no traffic in the morning. I also have an elliptical trainer if it's gross outside. But, I really don't think it matter what kind of exercise you do as long as you are raising your heart rate. |
