Hi everyone!  I would like to join as well.
I have always loved biking but became more serious about it about a year ago.  this summer I have tried to bike about 20 mi 2-3 times a week on my local towpath.  It is a beautiful and shaded ride that I really enjoy.  I have noticed a huge increse in my level of endurance since the past few years when I could barely make it 2 mi.
On days that it is too hot or it rains I bike 10 mi on the stationary bike at my Y.  Thats nice too because I can listin to my ipod or read and still keep up my speed and get a good workout.

Thanks for all your help.  I heard most of the bad news on ipods from the people who work at best buy and at the wall mart electronics center. (Not really sure how much they really know...)  My brother also helped draw me from ipods.  He's really an elctronic wizz- a vidio game designer- so i assumed he knew what he was talking about.  But he's been wrong before.....alot. : )

So i will look into the ipod again.   The creative vission m had stolen my heart but you all seem to love your ipods so much so I'll give it a second chance. : )

Fitness How many calories should i burn at the gym? Oct 10 2006

Unfortunately I dont think that ellipticals are ever really accurate about the number of calories you burn.  It always shows that you have burnt ALOT more than you really have so you may not actually be working off that much.   But thats just my past exsperience with ellipitcles : )

I love those new pizzas!  The Gormet mushroom is sooo delicious.  I think its far better than anything I could have gotten pizza hut.  And the BBQ chicken pizza is also very, very good.  I tried the chicken garlic pizza and thought it was so-so but the other two are a really great change from my usual peporoni or spinich lean cusine pizzas

Thank you so all much for your support.  I was really upset yesterday but reading all your post really made me feel better.  I really appreciate you helping me out.

I practiced the cones for hours last night and I was really confident.  i was not even letting the thought of failing cross my mind.

I passed to manuverabilty easily on the test.  Thankfully my instrcter was much more friendly this time.

Then on the driving portion I was doing pretty well, though I did have a coulple turns that were to wide.  But then we came to this fourway stop and it was the first time the man had not given me a direction to turn right or left.  So I was panicking in my mind thinking that mabey I haddent heared him or somthing.

Then for the first time EVER in my LIFE  I ran a stop sign.  I could not believe it!  I had never, ever run a stop sign or anything serious like that before as I said.

Thank God the intersection was clear and we returned back to the DMV safely without me killing anyone.  : )

This time I took it much better and only cried  a bit. :(
So I wont have my liscense for school...but my wonderful best friend and mom have vouluntered to drive me to and from school so i wont have to brave the bus.

I know it was just nerves again and I'm going to really work hard on polishing my driving in the two weeks till my next test.  I'm confident I'll pass next time with a cool head- esspecially since I don't have to do the stupid cones again!

So, Hk, I guess you can tell your story now.  : )

Thanks again for all the support.  I'm very greatful!

Who has tried these salad spritzers?  Are they good?  because
it seams like it wouldent add too much flavor because it is only
slightly moisting the salad
Weight Loss back from family vacation Aug 24 2006
20:31 (UTC)
I did the same thing last month.  I went to the ocean with my family and ate WAY too much food, all junk too.  I did get a decent amount of exercise each day but not nearly as much as I usually do.
Then the following weekend I went with my mom to Pittsburgh to check out a college.  And big surprise- I ate too much again.

Between the two trips I gained 6lbs.  But I didn't beat myself up too much because in eating all that food I satified all my cravings for chocolate, burgers, ice cream ect.   That way when I returned to normal life I did'nt feel the need to cheat since I had already indulged all I wanted.

It took me about 2 weeks to get back to my weight before the vacation and I have no regrets.

Don't be discouraged.  You just have to get back on track and the weight will come off.

Also, I noticed that I lost the weight more rapidly then before my binge fests.  Al that food must have been a good kick to my metabolism.

Ok enough rambling...
Fitness questions about elliptical trainer Aug 24 2006

I purchased a Nordictrack elliptical a few months ago and I love it.  I used to use DDR (Dance Dance Revolution) as my main source of exercise but it is very rough on my joints and mean to my knees. : (  The eliptical is a great workout and is very gentle on your joints and muscles.  The only time it ever made me sore was when I used it for 2.5 hrs strait with no break  (I was in the ZONE!)

I always watch tv during my workouts and that really passes the time.  Sometimes I forget I'm even working out as intensely as I am because i'm so engrossed in what I'm watching.

The only thing I don't like about the elliptical is that it occasionly squeeks.  But its not that big of a problem or annoyance.
I use it at least 1 hr a day 5-6 days a week, and its been a great weight loss tool for me.

I got mine for $500 at Sears- it may seem like a big investment but its worth evrey penny.
Weight Loss yo yo dieter Aug 24 2006
03:49 (UTC)
Hello. Welcome to the forums.  I'm fairly new here myself and I think that you will find this site very helpful in your weight loss.
I've been a sort of yo-yo dieter myself, but I'm really trying pernamently change my lifestyle this time.  Instead of just going on a diet, loosing a bunch of weight and then gaining it all back, I think I've finally warpped my mind around the idea of changinf my thinking.  Eating healthy and exerciseing shouldent be somthing I just do wehn I'm on a "diet" and want to loose a few lbs.  It needs to be a constant part of my life and somthing i practice evrey day.
If you can change your way of thinking, then hopefully you will not have to worry about constantly going on diets.

As for motivation,  when ever I feel discouraged I just picture myself at my goal weight.  Or I buy a dress or somthing that is too small and use it as inspiration to one day be able to fit into it.  : )

Weight Loss May I have a treat please?? Aug 24 2006

Well I had my blizzard and I'm very glad I did.   It was the most delicious, wonderful thing I have eaten in a very long time.
AND I've managed to stay within my calorie limits for the day.

I think its a good idea to indulge a little evrey now and then.  I was so satisfied with my treat that I don't see my self bingeing or cheating again anytime soon.
Thanks for all your help and advice evreyone!  I appreciate it!!
