| Aveeno cleansers & moisturizers are very gentle and reasonably priced. So is Cetaphil (it's actually recommended for eczema sufferers).
Think about taking fish oil capsules. They will do wonders for your skin, especially flaky skin. |

| Cooking Light & Moosewood are great. Those have been mentioned.
The Joy of Cooking has lots of great healthy recipes as well. Of course there are also lots of not so good for you sections too. However, it is such a wonderful, basic cookbook with recipes that are hard to screw up too bad. I have learned so much about cooking from it, which makes me love cooking, which in turn inspires me to cook healthy dishes rather than phoning in a huge order of pad thai. :) |

| Just consider that if you haven't drank since March, but were drinking fairly regularly before that, you won't have the same tolerance level. Having mostly quit drinking (I have 2-3 drinks per MONTH), I find a couple of drinks is plenty to get me buzzed. Awesome because it's cheaper! :) | |||

I've done it, but only on my slow, heavy cruiser on a mostly abandoned street. I would never answer it while riding in a crowded area or at a higher speed. My boyfriend will sometimes answer his phone in heavy traffic while riding his brakeless fixed gear. He's crazy! |

| Foods | Are tortilla chips any good by themselves? | Aug 21 2007 21:37 (UTC) |

| It depends on the chip. A good tortilla chip is good on its own. But some generic thing like Tostito's is yucky. Of course, I live in the heart of Tex-Mex land and there are tons of fresh, locally made tortilla chips. | |||

if you have a hard time giving up your apples, just eat fewer of them and eat them with other things. for example... cut up 1 apple and dump it on top of a bowl of oatmeal. add a few chopped walnuts, some cinnamon and a dash of honey. apple, string cheese & a handful of almonds will keep you full for a while. you can layer shrimp, apple slices & gruyere cheese slices in a parchment paper packet and bake in the oven for a quick delicious dinner. |

| Weight Loss | Feeling sick.. bad food choices or bug? | Aug 20 2007 19:30 (UTC) |

I've had a carb hangover after eating too much dessert & bread. It makes me feel groggy the next day and I usually have a headache. If you ate tons of rich food that you do not normally eat, it can make you feel sick. I don't know if it's because you're body isn't used to processing so much saturated fat or what. If you feel nauseated to the point where you can't eat any fruit, lick a slice of lemon. My mom taught me that and it seriously works on cutting the nausea way down. |

Eat oatmeal for breakfast, a low-cal salad for lunch, fruit for a snack and then whatever you want off the menu. If it was me... Good god. I'm about to buy a plane ticket to San Francisco just so I can actually eat all that. Mmmmmm! |

| Foods | Yuck! Crisco? | Aug 16 2007 20:48 (UTC) |

Crisco is what makes the frosting on store bought birthday cakes able to take pretty shapes, like roses & decorative edges. I haven't enjoyed that kind of cake since I found that out. :( Crisco is the devil.

| Foods | How many packets of Splenda do you consume daily? | Jul 30 2007 18:35 (UTC) |

| zero.
i'd rather eat/drink unsweetened foods than use artificially constructed sweeteners. when i just absolutely need sweetener, i use a little bit of honey. 1/2 tbsp is roughly 30 calories. |

| Can you order vegan thin crust pizza? That's just thin crust with all the veggies, no cheese and extra tomato sauce. It's not usually on the menu, but most places will make it for you. A couple pieces of that won't set you back too much. | |||

| I would avoid sodas, broccoli, beans, fast food and anything else very salty. If dairy gives you problems avoid that too.
Drink a couple cups of green tea a few hours before. It's a good dieuretic + the caffeine will give you an energy boost for your evening out. Also, you might consider Spanx. http://www.spanx.com They're amazing. |

| Foods | butter or margerine? please help! | Jul 18 2007 22:00 (UTC) |
|
| Interesting about Becel. I'll have to look at it. I do try to stay away from anything processed & filled with preservatives as much as I can. I opt for organic, hormone-free butter and try to use it sparingly. I haven't bought margarine in years and haven't missed it at all.
It's really just about finding what works for your own nutritional requirements and preferences, isn't it? :) |

| Just depends on what type of diet your following. I'm opting for a high Omega-3 count, which means NO vegetable and NO trans fats. That rules out all margarine for me. I will use a little unsalted butter here and there. Mostly I try to stick with olive oil, or canola oil when I need something that can cook at a hotter temp or need less flavor. | |||
