i have this great fur-hooded olive green vest that i play on wearing with a black long sleeve shirt and a black wool mini-skirt, black tights, and black patent pumps (i also have a stuffed seal).

Because you are heavier, you need more calories to maintain your weight.  Therefore, you could probably eat 2000kcals and lose weight.  But as you lose the weight, you will need to take in less calories.

i'm a pear. 32-27-38.

i have the same problem you do with pants.  i have issues with getting pants over my thighs, but then once i do, the waist is absolutely huge.

at least i'll never have a muffin top? :D

know how ya feel.  i've lost ~8lbs (i'm in a healthy range so it's slow ...and i'm slow.) 147 to 138/139.  my waist has lost 2-3 inches, my bust has lost an inch or so (this is significant because...i have no bust to begin with, really) and my hips have lost an inch.  ..maybe.  and my thighs are exactly the same. 

i'm under the impression that i actually have rather narrow hips (other girls i know have such an exagerrated waist line, but mine is kind of angular), but i have a butt and thighs that i can't get rid of!  i will forever have to wear pants that are tight through the thigh and have a 2-inch gap at the waist.

if it helps, i'd much rather carry the weight there than in my stomach!   :) if you tone up though, it will help.  that's basically what i'm doing.  i can see the muscles in my legs and they aren't as flabby as before. :D

rather than sizes, i think we should strive for measurements!  8D but i am a size 4-9 depending.

my measurements are 32-28-38 and my thighs are gigantic (23/24 inches), so i am clearly a pear.  i need pants that fit my thighs (which makes me a 6-9), but in skirts i can be a 4-6 and in dresses, i could be a 2-4 depending on the cut of the skirt (small bust! 4s fall off my boobs..or lack thereof). 

also i am 5'5 and ~140lbs

i mean i wish i could get my ass into a size 2 or 3, but that will NEVER happen.  so i would be cool with a 4 to 6.  or even me right now, just even more toned!  because i'm fairly sure that i wouldn't be able to get past 130 or 125 at the most.  the weight just won't come off down there :P

5'5 ~140lbs. 7/9. can't get into a 5. too much hip.

measurements are 32-28-38.  so all of my weight is on my lower half (24 inch thighs, 15 inch calves, etc).

even if i lost a lot more weight, i think the smallset i could be is a 4/5 just because of the weight distribution

Is your period coming?  That might have sth to do with it.

If not, I've heard that when people up their calories, it's not rare for the weight to go back up before it goes back down.  When did you decide to bump up to 1500 calories?  If it's recent, then I'd say keep with it.  A 2.5lb flutuation is nothing.  It might be water or just the fact that you have more food in you with the upped calories.

Also my stats are kind of like yours, I'm 5'5 ~140lbs.  Because we're in a healthy weight range, weight loss can be VERY slow.

Depending on my activity level, I can gain as much as three lbs or just have a weight loss stall.

Also when my activity level increases (esp. summer~fall because I play tennis), my TTOM cycle lengthens and all types of crazy stuff goes on.  You have to take everything in stride and keep pushing, no matter how frustrated you might get! :D

wow, i've never heard of that!  but the most water i've drank in one day, i think, would be 3-3.5L.  and those are probably days where i exercise more.  i'd like to know the answer to your question too!

6/7 lbs as of today and ~3.5 inches as of august 12.  i'll measure again around sept 12 but i think its probably around 5 inches now. :)

BY THANKSGIVING--hopefully somewhere between 130 and 135 lbs! i'm 139/140 right now.

i take measurements once a month! i'm within my healthy weight range (5'5 started out at 146ish) and i'm down to 139/140 right now and even though that's not a lot of weight lost (since the end of june) my stomach is flatter and my limbs are more muscular--it's a gradual process so i recommend measuring yourself once a month and seeing the differences.

for me, i NORMALLY fluctuate +/- 3lbs.  it can be more with TOTM or eating a lot of sodium etc

water is really very very helpful especially if you're bloated or on plateau.  in my experience, drinking water makes water weight melt away!  awesome. :)

ashalee, use the link that anathema just posted (http://www.healthchecksystems.com/bodyfat.htm ).  scroll down to the chart.  19.4% body fat in a woman means that you have the body fat of an athlete. :) so you are in very good shape.

i had a harrowing experience these last two weeks and i'm jumping back on the weight loss wagon--drank lots of water yesterday to get rid of water weight and it totally worked!  so i'm ready to tackle everything again starting today!

oh good, because my friends and i always complain.  and i get excited when someone says they're irregular and i'm like "SO YOURS COMES TOO OFTEN?" and they're like "uhhh nope like every other month :D". :(

oh! that's something to look forward to! i don't cramp, but i occasionally FEEL really bloated.  and it sure does take its time flowing out (5-7 days before it's completely gone)

Hmmm, I'm 17, ~5'5.  I've weighed about the same since 8th grade.  Fluctuating between 135 and 145lbs.  I've gained height though!  I think at the end of 8th grade I was 5'3 or 5'4.  And my eight has distributed itself better.  So I'm not awkwardly chubby anymore. :)

Hoping to get down to 130 by the end of the year and we'll see what goes down from there.

Your family might not notice because they see you all the time.  I've lost about 6 or 7 lbs since the beginning of summer and people who I haven't seen in a while notice.  My mom only notices because I tell her everyday. Haahahah

I don't have a problem with my mom wearing some of my clothes (depending on the cut, she can fit into them), but mostly because I'm so sure that the clothing looks a ton better on me. (I'm 17 ~5'5 and she's 38 ~5'2).  We weigh about the same (~140), but I carry more weight in my hips and thighs and she carries more on her upper body from having children and whatnot.

But I think that if your daughter has a problem with you wearing her clothes and you don't want her to be angry at you, don't wear them.  It might seem silly, but teenagers are silly.  And people PROBABLY won't notice that you are wearing the clothes that she used to, but I remember how paranoid I was/am about certain things.

Good luck!  And tell her congrats on her weight loss so far!

...oh and taking her shopping would definitely make her happier.

i'm in my healthy weight range, but i realize that once i get into the 140s, my face seems a little bit rounder (i have a heartshaped face and my chin is pointy--so when it starts to get round----).  but when i get back down to the upper 130s i feel cute again.

...but that's just me.

i think for males, the generall accepted minimum is 1500 calories.  but depending on how fast you want to lose the weight, anything between 300 and 1000 calories of deficit a day (which would be eating 1600 to 2300 calories a day) will result in weight loss.

do you exercise?

the same thing happened to me.  i started out at 144 in the beginning of august and was down to 136 within two weeks.  it has tapered off and i'm at 139 right now. :)  i expect you'll even out within another couple of weeks or so!

hey guys!  i've been seeing this thread around but never clicked on it until now!

AGE: 17
CW: 139lbs
GW: ultimately 120lbs but first i'm trying to get to 130 by the end of the year.
WRIST: 5.9in (15cm)
HEIGHT: 5'5"

I play tennis, but I work more in the off-season (summer) than the actual season.  So I'm starting to wind down a little (First practice on Monday).  I lift every other day.  Light weights. 5-10lbs depending on the exercise.  I do crunches everyday, mostly because I really hate cardio and can't bring myself to run after tennis.  And I feel like I need to do something later in the day because I feel empty otherwise! Hahaha.  Sometimes I run.  Once or twice a week at the most.  A mile and a half to three miles depending on my other workouts for the day.

Nice to meet you all!  My first goal is 138 by Sept 4 because that's the start of the school year and I will then have a BMI of exactly 23!

I've lost about 7lbs in the last two months. The closer you get to a healthy weight, the more difficult it is, sadly.  I started out at about 146lbs and now I'm at about 139lbs. 5'5.

Asian standards are very petite.  A friend of mine is Korean and living in America.  So one of her cousins from Korean came to visit.  She said the first thing that came out of her mouth was "____!! YOU GOT SO FAT." She's about your height, maybe a little bit shorter (5'0/5'1) and 110lbs.

It's funny and intimidating at the same time!
