Weight Loss so i gained back a few lbs... Aug 09 2008

I have been on Yaz for about 6 monthes now and when I initially went on it, I gained a few pounds as well. I wanted to go off of it, but I gave it time and eventually my body adjusted to the added hormones and the weight fell off. I find that I get very bloated about a week before my period which obviously adds pounds, but those go away. Honestly, I would just give it a little time. Allow I wasn't thrilled at first, I am so happy to be on this pill now :-)

When I was younger, I used to go to my grandmothers house when I got home from school. She grew up during the holocaust in Norway where she had very little food. So like your dad, she always liked to see her grandchildren eating well. She would cut up fruit and cheese for my brother and I, but she also made us these delicious mini pizzas to go with them. After that, I always wanted more so I would take two cinnimon raison bagels and cover them with butter, cool-whip, and cinnimon. Those were my absolute FAVORITE snack. I would do this atleast one a day sometimes twice. All of these snacks happend about an hour and a half before dinner so this was on top of a HUGE dinner as well. Knowing what I know about nutrition now, all those pizzas and bagels seem like a nightmare!

And I agree, they are fun :-)

Thank you both for your responses. I will take your advice and lay off of it for a bit. I am going to the doctor today so hopefully I will get good news there. Again, I appreciate the advice. Thank you!
Foods Eating in a strange way? Jun 04 2008

No, I do the same sort of things. I only like to eat with certain forks or spoons and I have to have my sandwiches assembled in a certain way. In my opinoin, most people develope certain "rituals" when they practice a certain way of life and eating healthy is certainly a "way of life". So in answer to your question, no, you are not mad and I can definietly relate! :-)

I have Kashi Golean Crunch in the morning. I love it! What I do is put 3/4 cup in a seperate little bowl and microwave it for 30 seconds. It softens it a bit and makes it much easier to chew. Since I mix it in yogurt and not milk, I don't mind that it is slightly warm.

I have Myofacial pain syndrome and chronic fatigue syndrome and I know how you feel. My doctors advice to me was to excersize because that would help with the pain. Obviously that was easier said then done, but like you I just couldn't get off the couch. I didn't see friends, my grades slipped, I was miserable. Finally, I decided that if I can't do all the workouts that I wanted to do I would just have to do SOMETHING. So finally, I forced myself up and just walked in place in front of the T.V.  I did this until I felt the need to stop. Eventually I was able to walk a track for 20 minutes before school everyday. I worked my way up until a year later I was able to run 5 miles without stopping. The Dr. was right, the exercise did help, but I had to start with very very very little. I am not trying to say it is easy or anything. I was in almost the exact same boat as you and I definietly still get my days, esspecially now because the weather has been so werid. I would say that just getting up and walking in place is better then nothing. Good luck to you. I know how hard this is.
Maintaining 5'1" 103 lbs? Apr 25 2008

I have been getting the exact same comments about my arms lately. Even when I was heavier, my arms were always smaller in proportion to the rest of my body. I lift weights and try to do toning exercies but I can't seem to improve the muscle quality in my arms. Nobody notices the fact that my legs and butt are very muscular and toned, they only notice my skinny arms. I am 5'3" and 115lbs with a small frame. I do not rigerously count calories, although I have an idea of how many calories are in the foods that I eat. I eat all the healthy food I want (plus treats!) in moderation, nothing is off limits. It upsets me when people think otherwise based on something they are assuming I love my body but also feel bad about the "skinny" comments that come my way. I would say everyones body is different, and if you are happy and healthy then screw what everybody else has to say.

Hope this helps!
Health & Support Anyone on YAZ? Apr 06 2008

Hi--

I have never posted anything before, but I have been a lurker for a while :-) I went on Yaz three monthes ago and I am just about to complete my third pack. When I first started Yaz, I freaked out. I have had hormone problems for a while now and my OB/GYN put me on BC to try and increase my levels a bit so I could actually get a period. She didn't know why my period was not coming, but I hadn't had it for a year and a half. She suggested a low dose pill because she didn't want to overload me with to many hormones all at once since my body was not used to them. Since I was not used to the hormones, my first month on Yaz was tough. My moods were eratic, my skin got bad, and I was convinced I was gaining weight. (I really wasn't) I was miserable, but I was told that it takes three monthes for everything to level out. I decided to be patient and atleast give it the three monthes my Dr. suggested. The second month was the worst initially. I became considerably much more bloated and my cravings for food became more intense. I wanted to cry all the time and was miserable.  Once I got my period, the bloating went away and I lost like 4 lbs overnight! Also, all the mood problems stopped and I havn't felt them as intense since.

I am about to complete my third month and this is by far the best month yet! I recognized that my body reacts to the pill depending on the week. For example, the first week of the pack, I feel great. The second week is when the cravings for strange food come. I find that I am craving Frosty's and french frys all the time! The third week is the emotional week, and the fourth week is the bloating and cramping right before my period. All of these symptoms are not bad at all and are very mild.  The only thing that really sucks for me is the bloating because it makes me feel uncomfortable in my clothes, but that goes away once my period ends. I have not gained any weight at all and my skin has begun to clear up, and my mood swings have become much much less. I encourage you anyone to stay on any sort of BC for three monthes or whatever time frame your Dr. gives you before making a choice. I am really glad I gave Yaz time becasue I really love it. I feel like a whole new girl compared to the the first month.

Sorry this is kinda long, but I want to give as much info as I can! Good luck to anyone on the pill!
