I've had visitors so not been online since I joined this thread, but I have to come on here to say LOOK WHAT I ORDERED TODAY:

A cross trainer!!! Cool Seriously I am so excited! Since I can't get out to exercise in the evenings after work (I am on my own with my little boy right now) this is going to be fab. I love going on the cross trainer, it was the only thing I really enjoyed doing at the gym.

I posted asking for a 180-club yesterday, so here I am! Thanks for pointing me here Leopardrayne Smile

I'm almost exactly 180lbs now so hopefully I won't be hanging around this thread for very long... who else is about to move down to the 170s club?

Motivation Is there a 180-club? I need virtual buddies :) Jun 25 2008

Cool, glad to see someone else with relatively similar goals Smile

I am gonna take a photo now - hopefully a "this is how fat you really are" photo will help me get motivated. And as I lose weight it will be nice to have a before photo as a reference.

Weight Loss hospital food Aug 12 2006

oh don't get me started on hospital food.... grrrr!!

after my c-section 6 months ago i had to stay in 2 nights (there was NO way i was staying longer!) after 36 hours in labour followed by an emergency section i was knackered and starving! when i was finally allowed to eat i hadn't eaten in 48 hours and was really looking forward to the shepherd's pie they had for dinner that day... then it arrived and looked like last weeks leftovers put through the blender and served with soggy chips... tasted like that too... 2 mouthfuls was all i managed! the following day was just as bad, i declined their food and sent my partner out to buy me a pizza! lol, i was the envy of the ward!!!

surely in a hospital it must be even more important to have healthy nutritious food so that people can recover and regain their energy???

Weight Loss Lack of Sleep-Detrimental to Weightloss Aug 11 2006

SLEEP???? what is sleep?!?!? lol

i have a 6 month old baby who wakes about 4 times a night still... haven't had a full night's sleep since before he was born. average night i get about 6 hours broken into 2 hr chunks. it's knackering but i've kind of adjusted i think. i've tried going to bed earlier (like 8 or 9pm instead of 10-10.30) but i just can't go to sleep then and end up tossing and turning.

roll on sleeping through!!!

completely off topic, but pmaggio: my mum was diagnosed with hypothyroidism about a year ago, and she has a friend who also has the condition (has been on medication for over 20 years). i came across an article about an alternative remedy in a magazine and there was an interview with a woman that claimed it had helped her, so i told mum who was somewhat sceptical but gave it a go anyway. 2 weeks later her energy levels were soaring and her frequent heart palpitations (sp??) had completely stopped. her friend was equally sceptical, but she came to thank mum for telling her about the product as she hadn't felt that good for over 25 years, and even had so much energy she was painting her fence at 1am!

i don't think the product is available in the UK or US, it's a scandinavian product i think... maybe it can be bought on the internet?? www.enaxin.com is their website, although it's only available in swedish and danish! there is a liquid form (more intense) and a tablet form and apparently you're supposed to take the liquid for 2 weeks, then the tablets for a month before another 2 weeks on the liquid and another month on the tablets and so on... mum says she can tell when her month of tablets comes to an end and it's time for a new liquid dose as she generally feels more sluggish then.

sorry i'm rambling on here and completely off topic too! just read the bit where you said you have hypothyroidism and thought this might be of interest!

feel free to email me for more info, i can read swedish and danish so can translate things from that website if you wish.
Weight Loss Body Fat Measurement Aug 09 2006

that website told me i had a body fat % of 39!!! :-O my scales are the type that measure body fat, and they say my BFP is 30% - i'd much rather believe those scales tbh! ;-)

Weight Loss Possible Pregnant !!! Aug 06 2006

oh how exciting! have you bought a test??

as for the diet if you're pregnant, i'd say carry on eating healthily. as long as you don't use the pregnancy as an excuse to pig out then you should be fine! i lost 2 stone, then fell pregnant. 3 days after my little boy was born i weighed 8lbs more than i did before i got pregnant, and 2 weeks later that had all gone - i retained a lot of water and my ankles looked like logs! just make sure you don't go hungry - the "eating for two" doesn't mean eating twice the amount, just eat really nutritious food!

as for exercise - as long as you feel comfortable (and haven't got a history of early miscarrieges) you can carry on with our normal routine, and make changes if and when needed. just be aware that your joints and ligaments loosen due to hormonal changes, so don't overdo things! i carried on jogging and going to the gym until i was 7 months pregnant, and went for a 2 hour walk every day in my last week - what a sight.... an overdue pregnant woman waddling along!

i really enjoyed being pregnant - for the first time in my life i didn't have to be conscious of my big belly as it was SUPPOSED to be big!

good luck, hope the test reveals the result you wanted!
Weight Loss Weight loss after baby Aug 05 2006
08:53 (UTC)
hi, i'm 6 months post birth and also trying to shift some weight (picking up where i left off when i got pregnant, i lost 12kg / 26.5lbs in 6 months or so then.) thankfully i have lost all the pregnancy weight (only gained 4kg thankfully) but still have about 10kg / 22lbs to go until i reach my target of 60kg / 132lbs.

i don't know if having a baby has made it harder or easier for me to lose the weight. i am still breastfeeding and i think that has helped alot. i started my new healthy life (i hate the word diet and this is a lifestyle change!) a week ago, and i have lost 2.1kg / 4.5lbs in this first week. i know a lot of it will be water, but it's still motivating to see those numbers on the scales!

shall we all be post baby CC buddies? ;-)
Weight Loss Pilates!!! Aug 05 2006
08:43 (UTC)
i love pilates! it's so great for toning up! i must get back into the habit of doing it - i've become lazy since i had a baby 6 months ago :-( and feel as if i haven't had tummy muscles in well over a year!

***makes mental note to self to get windsor pilates videos, mat and motivation out from the cupboard and give them a good dusting***

i used to go to a great class, and then the instructor moved away. never found one i like that much again, so i got the videos. hmm, maybe OH will have our little boy one evening and i can try another class...
Weight Loss Activity Log Aug 04 2006

i'm a stay at home mum looking after a 6 month old, so there's a lot of running around and lifting him, playing, changing etc. i put my activity level at light, and only log any extra exercise i do - although it would be interesting to log absolutely everything, it's far too much like hard work for me! lol

maybe i'll do it for one day only, and see what an average day is!

(((((hugs)))))

sorry to hear about your house, your cat and dog... that is so sad... maybe you're just reacting to the trauma of the fire - i am sure that was emotional and that emotion may have put you off balance...? give things a little time, they may sort themselves out.

Weight Loss A Sluggish Liver - makes you gain weight !!!!! Jul 31 2006

very interesting reading, which had me immediately running to the nearest mirror to see if my tongue was white. was kind of hoping it would be so i could take those milk thistle tablets and boost my weight loss... "sadly", it looked pretty pink and healthy! lol, no excuses for me then!

wonder if milk thistle could still help increase liver function even further? and is it safe to take whilst breastfeeding? probably not, pretty much anything says "do not take whilst breastfeeding" or "consult your GP before use if you are brestfeeding"!
