| Ok, that article says "Bottom line: Sweeteners work if you use them to replace caloric treats and drinks; fear of sweeteners is probably plain old Puritan fear of unearned pleasure."
So, according to that, my plan of choosing the sugar free version of things such as yogurt or latte will work! That's good because I need to eat more yogurt and the lattes are loaded with sugar but I will inevitably keep drinking them (with skim milk). Thanks, CCers. |

| I just wanted to add that I have started eating Healthy Choice canned soups. They still have fairly high levels of sodium. But it is literally half that of most other brands, and their calorie count is a little bit lower too.
Healthy Choice: Chicken Tortilla Style Soup Cambell's: Soup, Chicken Noodle, Chunky, Ready-to-serve, Single Brand Actually, I just found this one which is even better: Soup, Progresso Healthy Classics Chicken Noodle |

| Really? I didn't know that they sent those confusing messages. Can you elaborate? I think I have a problem with aspartame, though. If I drink diet coke, I get a headache, stuffy sinuses, and a stomach ache. But not all foods with aspartame do that to me. I'm fine with Light Yoplait. The lattes use Splenda, so those I'm ok with. | |||

| I tried that with Special K cereal, as suggested on the box. But they say you should only have a cup of it. That is certainly not a full bowl and I was still hungry. Maybe if you eat a piece of fruit with it you will fill up a little more. | |||

| Public fascination with weight fluctutates. Remember how JLo seemed to start a trend of having curves and around the time she was a big hit, I noticed a lot of girls sporting a little extra chub and flaunting it. I think that after that phase, girls started thinking they were putting on too much, and went the complete opposite direction *Olsen Twins*. Now...I'm not sure where it is headed, but, sadly, I'm not sure Spain's attempts will have that much of a ripple effect on our brainwashed society.
Oh, let me recover that negative moment, I HOPE that Spain will be a trend-setter and revolutionary in their attempts. I'm also not opposed to the idea of just making all models plus size and doing away with the twig altogether. ;) More to love. |

| Pairs are always my favorite option! I've always had 2 girl cats and they're the best! But be sure you can afford to give them proper medical care right away. They need their shots & spaying, and its better to get that out of the way when you first get them. Then (if you're not against it) you can have them declawed while they're young. I've heard its less tramatic & they don't remember. Don't know about that though. | |||

| Foods | Has anyone overcome sugar addiction??? | Sep 14 2006 15:19 (UTC) |

| I too have heard that you don't even want sugar anymore after you cut it out of your diet. I never thought I was much of a sweets person before, b/c I didn't eat very much candy. But then I realized the things I couldn't live without from day to day were: Starbucks coffee drinks (hello syrup& whip cream!), cookies, cake, ice cream, muffins.... Those things ARE sweets! So, that's where my biggest problem comes in. I could cut DOWN on the muffins, cake, cookies, and ice cream. But the coffees are my livelihood every morning! How can I get my morning buzz without those? | |||

| Yes! My fiance eats almost all fast food and is super skinny. But he will not change his eating habits, even when I tell him he's going to have a heart attack at 25. So, when I am ready for dinner, I want to make something both of us can eat, but am not able to. When we dine out, the best option I get is subway which usually ends up being more calories than I expected anyway, but he is more likely to choose Wendys or McDonalds.
When I told him I was shooting for a regular routine of 2 workouts per week (I know its low, but I wanted to start small), he says, "I think you should try for 3 instead." and gives me a look as if to say '2 is not enough, you're being lazy.' And on top of all that, I think he secretly wants me to stay this way so that guys are less likely to hit on me. (Not that it matters, b/c guys will hit on a girl with 'assets' no matter what size she is.) |

| Last Christmas, my mom and cousin & I made them from scratch. That was the most drawn out back breaking thing I've ever done in the kitchen! OMG! Now I understand why I never saw my mom making them when I was little. It takes forever! They came out all lumpy and all different sizes. It was actually pretty funny. | |||

| I want to have Beyonce's body, b/c no matter how much she works out, you can still see her rib muscles poking out a little, and she's still a little beefy. I believe that's the type of body I'd have if I worked at it. I am tall, with long legs, and I certainly got the booty. ;) So, it seems atainable. | |||

| Holiday-- I had a lot of problems w/ BCPs too. I tried a few diff kinds and a patch (which ripped my skin off when I changed it!). I finally just decided not to use any kinds of contaceptives. (except I always use condoms) But that works for me & my situation/relationship. There are other options, but you have to do a lot of trial & error before you find what's right for you. Keep trying though, it better than having nothing. GL! | |||

| I find that if I'm eating well I am able to keep up with the CC food log. But if I start to eat bad, I also slack on logging, andit sort of spirals down from there. So, if I stick to eating good, its like I am able to keep my life together! I don't know if that helps at all. ?? | |||

| Glam: (fabulous name btw!) You are so right! Muffins are the devil...along with many many other things made by CB or PB... mmm.
But I agree with the split plan. Have someone else cut it in half and eat the other half, or just crumble it up and throw it away (I know its a waste, but you gotta do what you gotta do.) Then they can give you the 1/2 you are allowed to eat. Enjoy it and if you need more to fill you up, eat fruit or yogurt with it. =) GL! |

| I hadn't set any yet. So, thanks for giving me that idea!
My goals will be to stay below 170 lbs, since I couldn't seem to keep the 7lbs I lost off during August. An also to begin a workout regimen of some kind. Maybe 2 times a week. Those are pretty simple goals, so I should have a better chance of meeting them. |

| I know I'm coming in late on this post, but wanted to add my 2 cents. I had most of my breakouts after HS too, and here's what I learned. Be sure to wash your face with gentle cleanser every day and night. One thing I wasn't doing is exfoliating. That's important! Wash at night with a scrubbing cleanser or use exfoliating sponge or gloves. Don't overdo it with too many creams or cleansers.
Proactiv works good, but you have to use it religiously and it can get expensive. If you want to get right to the root of the problem, go to a dermatologist. They are usually covered by insurance and can give you a prescription cream to use which will be cheaper than buying a bunch of OTC crap. HTH. GL! |

| They are usually potato, onion, cheese, or sauerkraut. But I like them much better with fruit. There's a restaurant somewhere in the city (Chicago) that makes them in all different flavors like cherry, strawberry, rubarb, blueberry. I guess you could have them more for breakfast if you fill them with fruit. It's yummy though!
So, for my food log I just guessed and decided that the sauerkraut ones would be about the same as the plum ones. It works for now. |

| OMG! The cake shake is so sinfully good and gross at the same time! Last time I had one I felt slightly sick afterwards, but I drank/ate the whole thing!
haha....drunk eating is very satisfying. But can reallly blow your diet. I can be eating good all week, then comes the weekend and the drunk binge kills it. btw, jayd, if your friends have graduated to getting messed up 2 or 3 times a week....you may want to be careful. (Not that I'm preaching or anything.) I've been through those phases and 2/3 times a week can double just as quickly as 1 time a week did. Then you're in trouble. GL! :) |

| Emily, I know how you're feeling. I never knew that the way I indulged on food could be considered binging until I got on here. I would sometimes walk into the kitchen, see cake sitting there, and shove a huge piece into my mouth so that it would be gone before anyone could see me eating it. I've never thrown up afterwards, but I've felt sick from it.
And yes...all I want is to be thin! But it can't come easy for everyone. It sounds like you need to work on your self-esteem 1st before you worry about your weight. Then again, sometimes losing those few extra lbs is exactly what we need to improve our self-esteem. Don't worry about the cake. Log it in, and then remember those extra calories DO COUNT next time you have a craving. If you need any support you always have CC. I'm seriously considering investing in a good phone that has net access so I can log onto CC wherever I am! haha. |

| I don't think there's anything wrong with being obsessed if it helps you to stay on track. When I was logging my calories daily on here I was doing pretty good. When I slipped off the wagon, I also seemed to be forgetting about CC. So, I think its good! :) | |||

| 'never'-- that was really encouraging. (Not that the rest of the posts weren't, but some things sink in more than others.)
I ate a small chili & a jr.BC from Wendy's for lunch (b/c its cheap and I only had a few bucks). I am going to try to make an effort tonight to prepare my food for tomorrow and bring it to work. That's a start. I swear, I'm like Bob!! (from "What About Bob?") ...Baby steps to the door....baby steps into the elevator...baby steps to the sidewalk... ;) |

| Unfortunatlely, the cal count of bad foods doesn't scare me b/c they are comforting to me. I guess its really psychological. People are always telling me "you're not hungry, its all in your head!" And I want to scream at them when they say that. "No you MFer, its not all in my head! If it was I could do something about it!" ...but I guess in reality it is and I'm just in denial. I'm probably just in a rut. Bad habits are really, really, really hard to break. I know I'll get out of the rut. But then I'll end up back in it in a couple weeks. =( Sorry to be such a downer today. | |||
| Weight Loss | Women: how to get rid of "the pouch"? | Aug 29 2006 15:55 (UTC) |
3 |
| I think sometimes it depends on your body type. I have a friend who is skinny and she says she always had the pouch even when she was cheerleading in HS. But I imagine you can get rid of it by doing specific ab excercises. You have to work that area, not the upper abs where the "6 pack" would be.
There is an exercise I learned (I think from Pilates) where you lay flat on your back, legs out in front of you, feet together, and lift both legs up to about a 45% angle. If you do this 3 or 4 times you will start to feel it. It's a good one! Try that and see if you get results. |
