Hi,

I don't know about the calorie burn, though that would be interesting. I hear it is much more active then cross country skiing... don't know. The reason I responded is because I am excited to give it a try this winter too. I am anxiously awaiting the snowfall so I can get out there and give it a go. My thought is is would be an amazing cardio workout, not to mention the wonderful experience. Good for you and please keep me updated as to your experience.

I know what you mean. Mine is at night though. I can be doing really good all day, then bam... crackers, or some little thing, in mass quantities. I don't know what to do to stop them other then keep repeating to myself I'm not hungry, I'm just munchin calories. That doesn't always work though. I tried toothpicks, just stickin on of them in my mouth so I don't  munch, but it is a demon I have too.

Here's a site I found that is lots of info on cosmetic surgery by people who've actually had it. It may answer some of the MANY questions about what to do with all that extra skin.

I'm not promoting Cosmetic Surgery, but I know there's alot of people on this site that have asked the question, "will my belly ever shrink," "what do I do about this extra skin under my arms and around my thighs." Well here's some people who've been there and have chosen CS as an answer.

Maintaining How long til you don't feel fat? Sep 20 2007

Hi,

I totally understand about not being able to see the skinny you in the mirror, the large sized clothes shopping and the need for a new wardrobe. How I delt with these things is like this"

I looked in my mirror alot. I looked at my reflection through another mirror, this was the only way initially I could see the changes. Touch your body, feel the new you emerging, enjoy it and LOVE YOURSELF! Sounds crazy I know, but it helps.

Take a skinny friend clothes shopping with youl. Let them pick out some clothes for you, don't argue, don't fight them, just try it all on , THEN decide. Biggest problem for me was learning how to dress like a thin perrson. I too have been fat since childhood, and the clothes I picked after loosing weight, were still fat clothes.

Lastly, the wardrobe problem, THRIFT STORES! major cheap, designer lables, range of sizes, and MAJOR CHEAP.... I already said that I know, but I've changed my entire wardrobe 4 times, and the last time... I went thrift store. I don't stay in my clothes long enough to justify the expense, once I'm down to goal weight, 20 more lbs, I'll do some retail shopping, but I really love thrift stores. I've lost a total of 70 lbs so far. It's very cool for me to be able to fit into "rack" clothes.

Congrads on your weight loss, get rid of the "fat" clothes, and let the skinny you play!
Weight Loss Stuck in the 140's Sep 20 2007

Hi,

I just hit 149 which I'm very glad of. I was stuck in the 160s for months... what finally did it was first eating more calories for a couple days, not alot more, but like maybe 200c more, excercise of course cardio 45mins x3 per week and then weights x2 per week.. then I fasted for one day... it seemed to snap me back to things.. the eating more let me indulge, the eating less let me start over with my food game plan.. I was getting lazy about recording EVERYTHING I ate & drank, and when I started back after my brief fast, I started recording again. seemed to make a difference for me.. what exactly made the change I'm not sure, but I was able to get outta the 160s within a couple weeks.

My fav is strawberry shortcake. Angle Food Cake, nonfat, cool whip, and fresh strawberries. Very low calories for a yummy desserty dish that heads off that oh so sweet craving. an adaption is just the whip cream and fruit.

Thank you both very much. I appreciate the imput. I am in the rehab prograam but frusterated. It's scaring me to realize that my weight management is so very dependant on my exercise. I've started to adjust my diet and do more then I "Should" as far as excercise, but I don't think I'm overdoing it. You both are right and I am looking at this as a positive event in many ways, but as I said, frusteration is hitting me hard. So thank you both for replying and offering me support. It is helpful.
Weight Loss Loose Skin... Mar 21 2007

Hey there Purple. I've got the same issues and feelings. I went to a plastic surgeon mostly over my belly, but the arms came up, he told me not to worry, arm skin shrinks back. My arms are much worse then yours and he told me that the scars aren't worth the results firstly and secondly, he thinks most of that will correct itself.. he told me honestly that there would still be some flab, but much less then now.

Take hope, all is not lost, you are only 29 which is still very young even as skin goes. I'm 44 and major sun damage to mine for those 40+ years... you have a better shot then I on skin shrinkage.

Keep smiling and hang in there..
Motivation Ladies, is this a plateau? Feb 09 2007

I've found that platues are very useful, mainly to let your body adjust to the changes. It sounds crazy but I think things need time to redistribute, and that is usually when I notice I'm plateuing.. and when I notice the changes in my body from the weight I have already lost.
Motivation jelly belly Feb 08 2007

I was am really concerned over that too. I've been fat all my life, that's like 40+ years and my belly is/was large and jelly like you said. I've lost 40 pounds and I still have my belly, not so big, not so jelly. I don't think it will disappear once I hit my goal weight but the one thing I have found that made a HUGE differnce was weight lifting, and running. It didn't make the belly go away, but it sure did trim it and firm it up. So at least there isn't so much jiggle. I'm thinking tummy tuck is a definate thing once I hit my goal. That's a very scarey thought for me. I just know that reguardless of what happens along the way, once I loose the weight, I can figure out what to do with the extra skin.

Good luck
