| Hello! welcome to CC! A great place to get info and whatnot and start a better lifestyle! I'd certainly be lost without it! (why didn't they teach us this stuff in school?) You can do it! Theres a over 100 to lose club you could join, and several weigh-in clubs, one on monday, one wednesday (called the biggest loser competition) and I think one on friday. I suggest joining one to keep on track. Also, everyone here is really supportive and we're all going through the same thing, just about, so you don't have to worry about other people judging you. so its a very comfortable environment. Hope you love CC as much as I do! ^_^ |

| well there is one certain fellow who likes to pop in every now and then on a new username and bring ppl down, but the moderators are very quick to delete all his comments. Is best just to ignore him. But yes, some ppl are simply nasty. | |||

| Welcome welcome! I started with about 70 to lose too. Yes, just post your weight, and Tonya (I think) will put you on a team, then come back each Wednesday and post. You can read through some of this forum for more info. So, weighing in early today for team 2. 175, same as last week. kicking myself to do better this week :P |

| Weight Loss | Home cooking- unknown calories! Help! | Dec 06 2006 16:52 (UTC) |

| Whenever I visit my mom, I try to hang around the kitchen while she's cooking (but that ties in with the fact that I like to talk to her after not seeing her for awhile)
Most food you can find in the database on CC, and I usually add a bit of oil, or butter, some salt depending on what it is she cooked. Also, when I count calories while visiting mom and dad, or somebody else, I lower my allowance cause I assume Im underestimating. Maybe, if you can, hang out in the kitchen with her and get an idea of how much oil and stuff she adds to her cooking. Either just talk with her "hey mum, hows your day been?" cause I mean communication is great anyway. Or tell her you want to learn how to cook some of this stuff when you move out. (Im assuming you live with your mum, but your profile doesnt state age or whutnot) |

| Im in the same bind.. I always send out lots of cookies and stuff to all my friends... and this year I had to decide what to do. Ive made a few substitutes.. low-fat margerine, skim milk, etc... but have decided to just hand em out same inevitable sugar-high as usual. I considered using splenda and brown-sugar splenda.. but the stuff makes me bit nervous still so Im just sticking to the naturel stuff. But, if you feel ok with it, go ahead!
Im also making chocolate macaroons which are mostly rolled oats and chocolate... and Im using low-fat chocolate.. so.. well guess it can't be called healthy, but its not as bad as the rest of the stuff :P |

| Foods | Wendy's for dinner? | Dec 06 2006 02:13 (UTC) |

| I find Wendy's a great place to eat while dieting. Just get a salad and a baked potato and water to drink. its better than a sub at subway, in my opinion. fills you more for ~same calories, but not all bread. just imho | |||

| cotton thongs. all the way. I hate everything else! Those are the only ones that I find don't ride up (As hard as that may be to believe) My most uncomfortable pair of undies I own are a pair of stretchy bikini style that I dont think Ive ever worn for more than 5 minutes... why dont I throw em out? who knows? I dont like throwing out things in good shape, but I cant exactly give them away to anyone. lol |

| I get the sour cream and chive potatoe at Wendy's, hold the butter and a side salad with light ranch dressing (I dont use all the dressing), and a bottle of water for a drink. I usually only eat half the potato and am full for a good long time. For fast food, its actually very healthy! | |||
| The Lounge | Going off the pill | Dec 04 2006 02:04 (UTC) |

| Well, when I went off the pill I found it alot easier to control what I eat, and found it alot easier to lose weight. But, I also have only had my period once since (i stopped about 8 months ago) and have tyo go get a shot to get it induced in about a month if i dont get it on my own. I feel alot better now that Im off it though. I was only on it for about 4 years though. Id definately talk to your doctor about it, they should be able to tell you everything you want to know :) |

| Motivation | Finals AHHH | Dec 03 2006 15:20 (UTC) |
7 |
| Im studying math. My first final is thursday and I have a paper due tuesday. So, studying all week and next week. My plan: after every hour of studying, do either 25 crunches, 10 pushups, 25 wall pushups or something of the sort. and I bought those 100 calorie popcorn bags too! I am definately going over allowance. Just too stressed out to completely deprive myself everytime an urge hits (and coffee is adding to it..), and also focusing way more on the books than me. I figure it'll all be over soon and I can get back to being really strict about it all. Good Luck on your finals, everyone!! |

| Fitness | I have mono - any stories? | Dec 01 2006 04:08 (UTC) |
26 |
| When me and my brother both lived at home.. about 4 years ago, I guess.. he got mono really bad. But it was his fault it got so bad, cause he didnt go to the doctor until about a month into it. He was out of commision for 2 months, but 2 weeks of it was in the hospital. I think the main reason it got so bad was that he played hockey and basketball at the time, so for that first month he was really active until he finally gave and went to the doctor, thinking it was just the flu and a sore throat. and he wasnt allowed to play any sports or do gym class for the rest of the year. so... moral of the story. sit back, relax. take a few weeks to make sure you really are better. You dont want to damage yourself or keep yourself sick longer than you have to be, and afterwards, start exercising slowly. Hope you feel 100% soon <3 |

| I dont think the Canada food guide is well written at all. I didnt even believe it when we were taught way back in elementary school. I think more protein than 2-3 servings is a good idea.and less grains too (at least less than 12 servings!). but thats just my opinion. They're the "experts" not little ol me. |

| Hmm.. about time this topic came up. =P 1) I hate when people say you cant be bi, and have to chose a side. umm. no you dont. Im pretty certain there's very few people out there who are at the absolute edge of the sexuality scale. 2) I totally agree with naia_zifu. Just cause I might like females doesnt mean Im attracted to all females. I especially hate when Im out with one of my guy friends (who is gay) and other guys won't come near him cause they are all "afraid" he'll hit on them or check them out. first of all, most gays won't hit on someone they know is completely closed to the idea. and two.. what would it hurt anyway if for one reason or another he thought you were attractive? |

| Vegetarian | Non-Veg SOs | Nov 21 2006 18:07 (UTC) |

| Well, if you do all the cooking, maybe promise him to make him a certain # of meat dishes a week. or even just make meat for him, and give yourself an extra serving of veggies... which wouldnt make the meal take any extra time or dishes to prepare :) My boyfriend is pretty much carnivore and while I occasionally tell him he has to brush his teeth after eating pepperoni (or whatever) before Ill kiss him, we get along great. And you dont have a problem with your husband eating meat.. so, um... no problem! tell him that. Assure him you don't plan to "drag" him down with you. And maybe ask him to make a list of the meat products he wants you to pick up at the grocerie store before you go. Good Luck =) |

| Weight Loss | overweight boyfriend | Nov 21 2006 17:53 (UTC) |

| Hk, Thats why I used the words "Is there any way to influence him to eat healthier?" because I dont want to walk up to him and say, "listen hun, youre overweight." I wouldve hated him if 4 months ago, he had started talking to me about the fact that I was obese and even if he had said it in the sweetest sugar-coated way I wouldve cried for days. But if he had started taking me out to dinner at healthy restaurants or cooking me good food I wouldve been all for it, In fact at one point he decided he wanted to get in shape and asked if Id "come along for the ride" so we started together, we even went running together a few times at the crack of dawn... but he just kinda dropped out. and I picked it up again a few weeks later with CC (of which Ive invited him to check out several times over the last 3 months) I just wanted to know if anyone had any ideas on how to influence him without directly approaching him, or doing anything "underhanded". I don't want to make him feel bad, he's sensitive enough. And I dont want him to get the wrong idea. I think he's plenty sexy... but I guess all I can really do for now is take care of myself and hopes he wants to follow. |

| Weight Loss | Weight gain from medications | Nov 20 2006 04:38 (UTC) |

| I was on Seroquel for a while (400 mg) and I definately gained like crazy.. almost 60 lbs! yikes!! I did take it before bed, or even if I didnt it was very sedating and Id fall asleep anyway, no matter the time of day. But while I was awake all I did was eat, and I was still hungry no matter what. I tried everything then like Im doing now, but nothing worked and I just kept gaining. Will power was just non-existant! Until I stopped taking the drug. Perhaps you could discuss it with you doctor and see if you can be put on a diffrent medication, or lower the dosage. I dont know why you're taking it and maybe there's no avoiding it. But I can definately relate. good luck! |
