I have yet to completely break the addiction, but I've found that a slow decrease works best for me. Cold turkey may work best for others. I'm a wimp when it comes to pain, and I find it easier to deal with a lower-grade headache than a pounding one. I can resist the cravings and take an aspirin by reducing. My vice is coffee, so I am slowly mixing regular and decaf until I'm drinking just decaf. |

This conversation is SO NOT NICE right before lunch.
Thanks for the question and all the answers! I should look into that as well. We still have 2 pints of H-D at home to eat through. At 280 calories per 1/2 cup, it is going to take a few weeks of careful proportioning!!
Now, so get DH to eat the stuff. He avoids anything that HINTS at being Lite, Low-Fat, etc. |

I've already found one "twin" but more can't be bad! :)
Age: 29 (30 in April) Current weight: 130lbs Goal: 115lbs Height: 5'3" Frame: Small? (between Small / Med I think - fingers overlap, but not by much)
I am also a heart patient and went through a valve replacement almost 2 years ago. Would be awesome to find someone else also working on their heart health (not necessarily the same stats as me). |

| I know what you mean about winter! It's grey and ugly, and I don't even want to go to work, let alone spend my energy working out!
Thankfully a work-out center opened up 3 blocks from home, so I hope that will hant me enough to ATTEND! Anyone have any food tips for when your tastes don't mix with your husband's?? Maybe I'll ask on the food board too. Today I'm planning on being good, but dinners are the HARDEST for me (because of different tastes from hubby). I had a Quaker Weight Control Oatmeal this morning, along with my cuppa joe. I'm measuring out my creamer and sugar, and just making my oatmeal with water. I bought some Kashi granola bars for snacks, and have a yogurt and a low-cal soup and a sandwich for lunch. I guess I'll have the yogurt as a snack after lunch! GOOD LUCK TODAY! Remember, you are NOT your weight - we can do this! |

| I'm SO glad that I'm not alone! I am small-boned and short (5'3"). I also have a heart condition, so I need to watch my weight, because of the extra strain it puts on it. Right now I am 136, and would love to get back to my 20-year old weight of 115lbs (that is my ideal weight, so says my doctor). But for now, I'll settle for being in my 120s again (mid to low would be best). This weekend - I was NOT good. Dinner night out with friends at a Mexican place... lots of carbs, good margaritas, great company. Then Mexican again on Sunday - with cheese sauce to boot! So this week I'm vowing to be GOOD! I'm a FlyBaby (from FlyLady.net) so I am trying to plan our meals and control what goes in my mouth. I've been eating Quaker Weight Control Oatmeal in the mornings, and trying to have a healthy lunch. I manage to lose it at dinner, mainly because I just don't know of healthy recipes. The hardest part is that my husband and I don't agree on our food choices. Something that sounds WONDERFUL to me, he doesn't like, and things that he loves, I don't! I'll take any advice on that :) Glad to be on this journey with you all!! |

| There is also a book that might be of help. It is by FlyLady (Marla Cilley), called Body Clutter, Finally Loving Yourself). I have not read the book, but am considering buying it. It is supposed to be a step-by-step journey to change your "stinkin' thinkin'" about foods (like why you eat when you're angry/bored/etc).
Amazon carries it for around $9.00. |
