| Weight Loss | I need some advice...PLEASE :) | Feb 17 2009 21:53 (UTC) |

my guess is you will see and feel much greater results when you start excercizing. i am not much smaller than you, and for me to loose when i am sedntary i need to be closer to 1250 cals. I tend to put myself at sedntary and then log my excercize and keep my deficite to about 500 calories. and it is going to be slow if you are doing it right. it didnt jump on in 4 weeks, if you loose it that fast, it will just come back. the advantage to slow loss is building new habbits that will stick with you so that you can keep your healthy lifestyle after you meet your goals. so, if you aren't using a scale to track progress...(and that can be a very good thing, scales are fickle and fluctuate for strange reasons) what are you using to judge your progress? |

I've tried both, but feel much more motivated at the gym... fewer distractions, i am there anyway so why not do a good job, i go with a friend, so the social aspect is nice too... at home is is too easy to start and then get distracted by dishes or vaccuming or laundry... plus my dog and cats are way to interested in participating and they really get in the way :) |

i was so touched with my daughter's birth my SIL bought me a pretty white cotton night gown. i felt so yucky and i liked having something pretty and loose to put on. she also brought playing cards to the hospital which was great casues i had a nice 4 hour lull in the action. |

you can add the nutritional information from the package, and then tag it so you can find it again. unfortunatly this only makes it available to you, but it helps :) |

i have the same question! i just found out i am pregnant, and have been between 1250 and 1500 for so long! i am also really afraid to gaining too much with this pregnancy... i just lost 50 lbs this year and don't want to have to start over! so is 1500 (maitaniance or current+300) ok for me, or 1800 (maitaniance+300) where i need to be? and do i have to start now, or when i actually start feeling hungerier? i am only 5 week and don't feel different yet. i see the doc on the 30th. |

my only good news is deciding to join this thread. i need a kick in the pants about now. i have been doing some serious holiday binging and it needs to stop. i haven't weighed myself yet... i will sunday and let you know current weight 135 ish ( i think... we'll see) 5'1 32 good news: a whole can of campbells soup select harvest light savory chicken with veggies provides 2 filling, warm meals at 80 calories each that are easy to transport to work (thus offsetting in a small way the insanity of candy and chocolate in the breakroom and making at least maitenance cals for the day reachable) good news, i am counting the insanity of cals in the breakroom...the best i can. |

well, what i like about this is that you can eat whatever you want. I use this site to help me make better chices and be aware of portion control. Measure, see how it fits into your overall calories for the day, try to keep balanced meals, and use the site to train yourself to live a healthier lifestyle (which may include ricearoni or other treats...) |

one of my thoughts is the dog is only alowed in my daughter's room at bed time when daddy reads to all of us. for a while he may have to spend that time outside and get his own cuddles before and after bedtime. when everyone is comfortable with the idea, i can sit with him in the doorway during story time, he can still be part of the family time, but less threatening for the kitties, and i think we can probably keep her room a dog free space. i think that in itself will likely endear the space to the kitties. daughter is 7 and shouldn't have much difficulty keeping food and water available (probably on her desk) for the kitties. and she loves giving treats. it sure would be a lovely surprize to find munchkin waiting for me on the porch one day. although i know she would be absolutly incenced to find more animals in her space. she has such a lovely distainfull air for others that want mommy's attention. :) |

i am planning for the kitties to sleep and eat in my daughter's room... and she is already clear about how kitties like to be treated versus the dog. she can roll on him all she wants and he loves it. as far as "my kitty left us" i am sad about it. she was 15year old indoor kitty. she lived with the dog fine for 4 years, so i was kidding that she left because of him. she didn't care for him much, but he didn't really bother her. she avoided him for the most part. what happened was that she often went out on the porch with me in the morning while i was getting ready to go to work. when i left and locked the door, i would shoo her back inside. one day this fall my husband was leaving just a bit after me, and Munchkin was still on the porch when i left. he wasn't successfull shooing her back in, and left for work figuring it would be fine and we could let her in in the evening after a fun kitty adventure. well, she hasn't been back and no one has seen her. i am trying to convince myself that she adopted a dog free family a few blocks away and is living in comfort and security unable to return to me. but signs up in the neighborhood, calls to the local vets and repeted serching and asking the neighbors has produced nothing. i think the pitbull at the end of the block who is let out to wander the neighborhood some evenings probably got her. he is a nice enough dog, but i wish his owners would restrain him, and i know he has gotten at least one other pet kitty someone left out by mistake. husband feels bad and now we don't talk about it much. Munchkin is fine in a dog free home we can't see. made me cry. again. |

the kittens are 7 weeks old right now and will be 11 weeks old by christmas. the dog is neutered, the kittens would both be fixed and have there shots before we got them. i am slightly worried about the choosing part... the kitten(s) are meant for my daughter, but that is no gaurentee that they will choose her... hmmm. i seem to be speaking about the kittens in plural... |

Sorry i have been gone all... looks like a bunch of us took a break at the same time. i think we rely more than we think on your daily questions molly... so is this club going to keep going? who still wants to play?what are your goals?i am holding steady... but that is ok. i sprained my shoulder 2 weeks ago, took off to disneyland, last weekend, and then was training for the last week which kept me too busy and exausted to log anything (or even check in) i did OK food wise, although my only measure is the scale... i KNOW i didn't drink enough water, so i wonder how much the scale stability has to do with possible dehydration, and my regular snacks/ mini meals disapeared. ( i binged wednesday cause i hadn't eaten enough all day) i am recommitting today to logging, smaller meals with snacks between, and hope to get back to working out soon. apparently not today though, as the fam wants to go on a picknick, and hubbie bpinted out that since my shoulder was bothering me last night, this morning probably isn't the day to get back to the dojo. |

Ali... i wouldn't mind having a buddy... haven't tried that before so i am not sure how it works. I kind of think of this thread and the folk who visit it as my buddies. now that they have stopped, i am really missing the QOD. molly, you were really good at coming up with them. was it to tiresome to comeup with something different every day? maybe we could brainstorm a bunch as a group for future use. :) i weighed in today at 124. don't know where that came from. i have been pretty steady at 130, spiked to 134 and now down to 124? i had to check 3 times to make sure it was really saying that. i still figure it was a fluke. if not, that puts me at 48 lbs lost i think. wow. |

yeah! i knew there were ways to make decent choices even amid a fair of fried foods! new goal. I want to be in the low 120's by January. i am hoping i can fight again by then, and i would like to be more solid muscle... i know i have flab to trim. i also know these last 15 lbs are likely to be difficult. (they already have been difficult... for the last 3 months i have been holding steady) to achieve this, i will focus on my water, protien(1/4 of my cals) and fiber intake, and getting at least 400 cals excercize per day. some kind of excercize. hmmmm. maybe average 500 cals excercize daily over a week... which sounds easier to stick to? |

thoretically i think... i wonder if you have already gone? what about chicken breast? i think often there is BBQ chicken, and you could just remove the skin if you want to... on second thought, eating before and after and bringing healthy snacks( they should let you if you explane it is a health issue... and it is) or just deciding that it is OK to splurge... |

well, i kind of like that there is something to stop in her to check and respond to, but i am not sure it is helping motivate me much... but a few clearly have. your fiber question has shifted my eating, and i like the soup question and what haven' you tried question a bunch. so, if those struck me, maybe others like the food color questions have helped others. but i agree with medveditsa, not many people are answering regularly... perhaps if we took turns asking questions, or combined questions with&nbs p;weigh ins... or revisiting our goals... celebrations, hmmmm what else is motivating? |

i'm 5'2. i was size 14 at 175 lbs. i was size 12 at 160 lbs. i am size 8 at 130 lbs. i don't know if that will help much though. i checked your stats, and we probably don't have the same body type...but maybe it will give you a general idea? |

Quinoa ( not sure i spelled that right) it is a grain with a high protien content. supposed to have other benifits i can't remember... but it seemed high on the calorie content to me, and hasn't jumped off the shelf at the grocery store to me, so i havn't tried it yet. probably try almond milk before i try quinoa... |

Ewok got done this weekend except for elastic in the waisband of the legs. i am super excited to be Leah on Endor... i think it is a brown peasanty wrap dress thing i am looking for... and hair down with braids :) If i have any starwars friends out there with more specifics about her outfit.... |

hmmm... i am glad you posted that last question. the last week, and especially the last 3 days have been rough for me. generally, i go high (have a bad day) maybe 1 day out of 10, so i don't really feel too bad about it. i just start the next day freash... when it goes longer (as this recent bout) i know it will be harder to shift back. my hunger is up now, so i am being careful to count and measure everything again, to remind my stomach the difference between eating to live and living to eat. More water is a really good idea too. for hot liquids? I love soup, but mine is invariably more stewlike than soupy. i have never liked tea, but i do like hot water with honey and lemon in it. and i love coffee... but that has to be treated as a treat becasue i am sensitive to caffine. i think i want to try the hot almondmilk with cocoapowder in it. may be an aquired taste, but it certianly piqued my curiosity and thank you ladies for the Fiber one reviews. i ended up buying the honey clusters, which i had for breakfast with3/4 cup milk this morning. kept me full almost 3 hours (good for me |

i am for 500-700, cause i am already farily small (short) so my base unless i get excercize is less than 1700... and if i do excercize, i got teh idea i should eat back half of the calories i burn anyway. when i have a good judo workout, i sometimes go higher, and lately, i have been much closer to maitanance. Thanks Digi and Molly for the good ideas on fiber. i am even more hesitant about almond milk (i love milk. it is one of my favorite things), but on your recomendation i may try it. i will let you know. :) |

mmm i love golden grams! i will have to find Carmel delight. i haven't had cereal on a regular basis, because i don't feel it keeps me full enough for the calories, but i am guessing the fiber will help with that, so i will make a venture into the cereal aisle next time i grocery shop... probably tomorrow... |

IDK. don't eat the canned meat. so i can' t judge. the emails i delete if i don't want to bother with them, but for some of my family members, the only communication i get is the passed on jokes, so i read them, respond with others, and the occasional personal note... just so we know the link is there if we need it.
i should try the fiber 1 cereal. how does it taste? i'm scared ... -dont like new foods. dont trust'em without personal testimonials from folks i trust- |
