Good morning! Saw your post and although I don't know your story- you said the horrid phrase ..'back up to my original....' I think we can all feel your frustration! I am a constant yo yoer- and I am not into surgery- so I am frustrated by all my friends flashing their new - no work- bods around. Havign trouble staying motivated. But I am determined. I have been on a downhill scale ride for 3 weeks now- got sick last full week- refuse to step on scale- even if I have not gained- I fell yucky- bloated etc- as I have not exercised- shoot I have barely moved- or eaten... So today I get back on the horse- one step at a time. What are you doing for exercise? (if you are using calorie count I am assuming you are portion controlling and monitoring the nutrition of all that goes in!) I am doing walking and weights. Wanted to have added in some cardio- DVD workout by now- but the flu knocked me back a week. I found I was losign by portion controlling? you? but then it stopped? So I had to exercise more. Let me know your story- and I am always interested in new recipes etc- as I get sooooo bored with eating properly and nutritionally- and there is the problem- I enjoy food----but I do not enjoy being big... Stay connected! Stay motivated! Never give in and never give up!

Ok- now I am really depressed- only kidding- but I am not much bigger then 242- and the thought of running 10 feet is unimagineable- and you are doing a mile and a half- HOW!!! Actually how did you get to the point that it is possible? I just recently started coming here- so if you have told your story before I am sorry I missed it- but could use some encouragement- Everything I do feels so overwhelming- I did 10 whole minutes of cardio today and it wipes me out- I used to dance and do aerobics for 2 hours a day- what the heck has happened??? I just can't stand to look at the person I see in the mirror- it is not how I feel and when I see what the world sees I just want to throw up!(not literally- ) but I think you get the picture- it is not how I feel inside so when I go to do something and have no energy my brain just can't understand!! |

Hi ell- welcome back- I am jealous re the bike--I am saving the pennies nickles and dimes hoping to get one, well actually, the other thing- forget the name- for Christmas- I wanted a bike- husband wanted..what is it called- like a bike/stepper/arm thing---anyway- hope it helps- Momma- sorry was not around when you were looking- I am having the hardest time finding this group again- after I post to it- UNLESS I get an email to say a reply was posted...so help me- how do I get to it - just from my HOME page!!!??? I wish I had found it 10 minutes ago- I was needing support- I goofed and went from -under- my daily goal- to well above- how does that happen so quickly and for me- always after 8pm......ugh! I have to say - did you ever notice- the first few weeks of counting were rough- but then all of a sudden, I don't know if your body changes, or you just 'get it' but it becomes less difficult and you actually are not hungry- 'like before'. ???? (In tonights episode I was not eating out of hunger- more out of a craving- wanted a 'few' BBQ chips- and then ate a 'few too many'...) Just wondered if it gets easier in the exercise department- right now it is all hit or miss- and I KNOW that is the key to moving forward- but there are a million excuses, reasons, whatever you want to call themn- a million reasons why it never gets done---- I will keep trying- for now it is just getting outside- I am in Texas so it is only now getting cool enough to go out and 'enjoy' the exercise- I hope to make use of this 'cool' weather!
Write when you all can! Have a great day!!!

Hey- I am with you all- I am counting but I often am counting high numbers- I don't mean to- I start everyday with the right mindset and end a few days with horrible results- so I just keep moving forward---I am making progress- so you can as well.. noone has ever had success without failure- just have to remember that - and begin again! |

Hey that is toooo funny- re the scale bigmomma...I have the same broken scale!! I have to add 19.5lbs to equal my drs scale!! So I like mine alot better!!
Your story sounds very similar to mine- and maybe we can shed some support each other's way-- I am struggling- and my hubby is not supportive- he has his own health issues- and in denial- so I have decided, although we love each other very much, I have decided to focus on me- not something I am used to doing- focus on me and lead by example if he sees it working for me- he may do it for himself. This ALSO means I have to do it without whining, complaining and/or moping around- I have to MAKE IT LOOK easy!!!!
I think this group is perfect for me as well- I am 42, around 250 now- been as high recently as 274- and never nticed it- just oblivious- spent my whole life around 160- was 135 briefly did not like it felt tooooo small! I am 5'5" and just want to be 150-165- I got big after one child, bigger after a second and when I sat down and looked at it- I have spent the last 10 years having kids and getting bigger by about 10lbs per year----I just do not want to be like this anymore. I want ME back- for me and for my family.
I will make a point to check in regularly. Need to get my day started right now-
Take care- Dawn

| Weight Loss | Did the Burn Meter give you the correct number of calories to eat to effectively lose weight? | Sep 06 2008 20:34 (UTC) |

Well- let's first say- what I would give to be your weight!! I am 43 5'5 and 270- with a goal of only 160!!!
But I noticed that difference too(in different calorie models) and in talking to people I get the input that the cc website is affording me too many calories(it allows me 1750/day). I had not heard of your other website so I just clicked it and input my data and came up with 2160 on their site..so I am not sure. I am daily hovering around 1700-1900 and often sooo hungry I want to pass out- but I talked to my doc and she said the 1700 sounded reasonable for weight loss and maybe even 2000 if I could match that with an increase in exercise level(I do very little other than day to day running around with two kids and all the housework a stay at home mom can muster!)- I do notice that if I walk 3-4 days a week- even if only for 20 minutes each time- I can significntly do two things- 1) take the edge off hunger pangs and 2) drop more pounds and not feel so exhausted. Overall I am under the understanding that it is not so much the calorie count as it is about increasing the -muscle- at age 40 and beyond for women and then increasing the activity level. My doc was very clear that muscle mass was important as it 1) looks better and 2) helps you ultimately burn more calories. So I am now doing weights and trying to exercise more- the weights I am more loyal to than the walking so I cannot truly measure results yet- but it feels good and pants fit better.
I know none of that was an answer, just more opinion and suggestion- hope it helps in some way!!!
Take care-

| Recipes | Making tuna | Sep 06 2008 20:02 (UTC) |

never did it that way- avocado- but let us know how it was- I love tuna and love avocado- could be interesting??!!
I too prefer mustard in my tuna- with just a hint of mayo- but I have a picky family and if they see yellow- they freak! They have no idea I have made it that way for over 10 years(since they were all around!)..and that is why as they say- 'my tuna never tastes like yours- can you make it for us!!...I actually learned that in the restaurant business some 20 years ago---so I think it is quite common, more so than people think
Another idea is tuna made with salsa- my uncle does this and swears by it- I have not tried it yet-

I like it- didn't in the beginning- but it grew on me- but the expectations are a bit much- like someone else said- it makes you feel lousy when all you can muster is a pound here and a pound there- |

| Weight Loss | Is there anyone out there that has over 100 lbs to loose?? Or have lost? | Sep 01 2006 05:23 (UTC) |

| I too am starting at 248..and have 100 plus to lose- scarry- I thought I was HUGE at 180...then I thought I was DISGUSTINGLY HUGE at 210- I NEVER thought my scale would read the numbers it does- and when I look in the mirror I do not see it- I just don't---BUT when the video camera comes out- and I am watching my child's birthday- or sporting event and I catch a glimpse of that HUGE woman- I am mortified- how could that be me! Does anyone else out there understand that feeling- I always hear and read about the reverse, like anorexia- where people see themselves larger than they are- but is there a reverse- where you can't see yourself as large as you are???????? and how can you fix the image issue- .......I'll check out that 100 plus group as well- you all are so wonderful- glad I found this site, it is helping- little by little. | |||

| ok- I looked at it- and looked at it over a week(which is the time I have been doing this) and I see the trend, like many of the posts I have been reading - I am lacking PROTEIN and taking in too many CARBs(if I am shooting for 40/30/30- right now I am closer to 55/15/30) so I need to change something- thanks again for your help I will do some reading of others success and tricks and go from there- thanks! | |||

| Weight Loss | I'm going to Paris for vacation and don't want to binge! | Aug 21 2006 23:10 (UTC) |

| ENJOY Paris- there is too much of it to worry about calories- and with all the walking you will be doing- it will not matter!!! Don't eat anything made in America- while there..No candy bars, no McDs, etc etc- Eat Parisian and live Parisian and you will experience how good the food is with none of the weight gain- as part of the experience is that Parisians enjoy the dining experience- a meal can take hours- with good food and good company- and no excess!
I lost over 60 pounds in 3 months when I moved to Paris- and had no idea I had done it, because I ate everything I wanted to and more! Fresh fruit and veggies are everywhere..as are Patisseries, enjoy! But I walked- walked and walked- no car and lived on the 5th floor of a walk up! Plus the clothes sizes were different so I bought what fit- with no concept of what size it was. Enjoy your trip and be sure to catch the view from Sacre Coeur- with bread, cheese, wine/water it is by far one of the most breath taking views in the city! Enjoy! |
