My choice would be Pancho's Salad Supreme w/shrimp
& Mexican Vinagrette (or maybe the Honey Mustard dressing)

Enjoy!

Foods Paula Deen's 5 Worst Recipes: Oh My God! Nov 17 2009

I'm sure I'm in the minority here, but deep fried stuffing sounds pretty tasty to me!  I love fried foods...rarely eat them anymore...but an occasional fried treat isn't going to kill me.

I've tried watching Paula Deen on tv but can only handle her for a few minutes before she starts annoying the heck out of me.  Her personality really gets on my nerves!

Either apples or popcorn. Both satisfy my need for "crunch" & I never seem to get tired of either one.  I think popcorn would be my first choice though....oil popped, not the microwave stuff with all the sodium.

Some people prefer the food pyramid from the Harvard School of Public Health as it distinguishes between whole grains & refined grains.

Grapefruit...I peel them & eat them like oranges. They pretty tart so it's hard to eat them too fast.

binge_eater- is that you in the picture?   (SORRY?? I had to ask)  sorry for high-jacking the potato thread.

I don't know if binge_eater is trying to pass that photo off as a photo of himself...but it's NOT.  It's a photo of William Levy Gutierrez (model/actor).

http://www.mostbeautifulman.com/actors/Willia mLevyGutierrez/bio.shtml

I'm guessing the reason he has a problem with binge eating is because he restricts the foods he eats too much.  There are so many self-proclaimed "experts" on this site who think their restrictive ways of eating are healthy when they're actually a form of eating disorder.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with eating potatoes.

You didn't mention what sleep aid you're taking....but if it's a benzodiazepine I can tell you first hand that it can be causing you more problems than it's helping.  You don't get a restful & restorative type of sleep. After you take it for awhile it can actually make your insomnia worse. It can also cause problems with muscle aches, headaches, fatigue, etc.  You might want to consider getting off of it to see if you feel better.

NOTE: Check with your Dr before you stop taking your sleep aid....you may need to be weaned off it to prevent withdrawal symptoms! (even a low dose for a short period of time can cause very unpleasant withdrawal symptoms)

Foods falafel...how do you eat it? Oct 08 2009

At the falafel stand near me they sell them in pita bread with veggies & sauce, in salads, or you can buy the falafel balls seperately....so, anyway you prefer eating them is "acceptable". I like them in pitas, but my favorite is the plain falafel balls. They're so tasty they're even good without dipping into any sauce.

(Falafels are made from chickpeas...aka garbanzo beans)

Gia...

How do you figure Stevia is high in protein? All the nutritional info I've seen for it says it contains zero protein. Are you getting it mixed with whey protein or something?

Also, where did you get the info about it being good for your hair & scalp?  I've seen articles that mention health claims for it (dental & cognitive)...but nothing about hair & scalp.  I'd be interested in seeing what websites make these claims...care to share any links?  Thanks!

Hmmm...maybe that's all I should buy to hand out for Halloween so I won't be tempted to eat any. It's the tootsie rolls & smarties that I end up cursing at Halloween time!

I'd probably go with the one with the fewest calories. The sodium content would be the deciding factor for me, though. I'd choose the one with the lowest sodium since I have a problem with fluid retention & watch my sodium pretty close.

I found this article on it: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2009/08/24/kfcs -double-down-sandwich_n_266848.

It says it's only being test-marketed in 2 areas...Rhode Island & Nebraska.

It also say an independant calorie analysis concluded the "sandwich" likely has 1228 calories."

KFC "estimates" (no official workup done yet) that it contains:

Calories: 590

Calories from fat: 280

Total fat: 31g

Saturated fat: 10g

Trans fat: 0g

Cholesterol: 190mg

I'm thinking 590 calories sounds low for this.

LOL  The deep fried butter even sounded good to me when she talked about it being flavored & compared it to fresh baked bread & butter. I'd probably try it if I was at the fair...it's not like I'd be eating it on a regular basis.

Foods Watermelon, fattening? Aug 26 2009

Original Post by clown8516:

no fruit is fattening as long as its eating raw. trust me, in fact the more raw fruit you eat the leaner and healthier you will become. so think of fruit as a free food. and don't worry about your blood sugar because raw fruit will not raise it.

I disagree with thinking of fruit as a "free food".  I eat a lot of fruit & if I didn't count the calories in it I could easily go 500 calories over my limit each day. (not with massive amounts of watermelon...but  2 banana, 2 apples & a pear is around 500 calories...& those aren't "free calories"!)
