Motivation Having a hard time.... Feb 12 2007

Hi bkabse,

Unfortunately I don't have this problem :(  but thought these ideas might help...

If you cannot eat it all at once, can you try spreading it out?  Maybe have the egg and toast for breakfast when you first wake up, then get ready, and drink the shake on your way to work/school?  I think protien shakes are pretty filling, so maybe you can try having something else for breakfast like some fruit or yogurt.

Good luck!

LOL Michelle, I know exactly what you mean!  It took me two months to get out of Beginner mode and I'm still haven't gotten the hang of Light/Easy mode :(

It is fun though, and very addicting.  My Mom used to come into the room when I was playing and go through the moves without a pad because she was hooked after watching me bounce around like a crazy person.

Hi Everyone,

In response to Jenski6039's question regarding recipes, my favorite place to look (it may sound strange) is the AICS website.  They have simple, yummy recipes and the best part is it gives you the nutritional information at the bottom.  My favorite recipe so far is the Turkey Joes, it's YUMMY.  It's 290 cal a serving but if you use lettuce instead of the bun you can cut out a lot of calories.  This is the recipe.

I have a different food related question that you guys may be able to help with.  Cooking and buying fresh food is new to me and I was wondering what fruits and veggies stay fresh the longest?  I don't have time to shop very often and I'd like to be able to have fruit and veggies throughout the week instead of just the 2 days after I get back from the store.

Thanks!

P.S.  Vrykolia, I agree with you on the string cheese thing.  It is my new favorite snack food, it's so fun to eat!
Motivation 100 lbs to Lose Club ~ How do you get through the Winter & Holidays? Nov 02 2006

I was good this Halloween, but I had some help.  Basically I just allowed for the extra calories, but cutting out one of my snacks (same as SpotsKnight).  Then I was also lucky enough to have a ton of Trick-or-Treaters, so there was nothing left over for me to crave later in the night.

My favorite holiday is Thanksgiving and my family (both sides)always come to my parents house to celebrate holidays, which means I'll be helping my mom cook for days ahead.  What helps me control myself during these family gatherings is to eat a nice breakfast, one that will keep me full for awhile, this way I don't snack.  Then for dinner I try to be good about what I eat, except for Thanksgiving, it's nice to have a treat once a year.  I just eat slowly and enjoy my families company.  This way I know when I'm full and will stop eating before I make myself sick.

I don't think you should feel guilty at all about eating the 1700 Calories/day.  The number could be higher than you expected because the computer is working in how many extra calories you have to consume to make up for the calories you're burning during exercise.  Why don't you try sticking with the 1700 Calories for a couple of days to a week and at the end of the week see how you feel?  Maybe you'll discover that you have more energy, but also have not gained weight.

Since everyone is different I don't think the calculators on this site are perfect for everyone, but they're really really close.  I definitely recommend trying out 1700-1800 Calories a day then after a couple of days if you don't think it's right for you, try tweeking the numbers a little bit at a time.  That's what I did and it worked for me.

About the maintaining part, I cannot say.  Since you don't want to talk to the therapist, maybe you can ask your doctor what a healthy weight is for your type of body?  I think your doctor would give you an honest, straight-forward answer without all of the sweet talk you're getting from the therapist.

I hope this helps.  Good luck with everything!

I don't understand how it is a waste.  If you started at 143 and lost 10 lbs, if you gain 10 lbs then you will be 143 again.  If you hadn't have lost those 10 lbs and you gain 10 on your trip, you would be at 153.  You should be proud of what you've done, we all know it's not easy!

I think you can eat the foods you want, just have a bite (instead of a serving) of everything.  If you're going with other people each of you can order something different then share, that way you get a bunch of meals for the price (in calories) of one.  Enjoy your trip!

I think that if you're not overweight, you shouldn't try to lose any weight, but maybe you can get together with your Mom and do some strength training and tone your body.  You will lose fat and gain muscle, so you'll probably stay the same in pounds, but lose inches and look more fit.  Since you said you eat junk food, I thing if you're going to change your diet it should be to eat healthier, not to lose weight.

I hope this helps!  It sounds like you can also talk to your parents and see what they think since they know you better and know about health and fitness.

Go to the Community Tab, then the Ticker Sub-Tab, and click the button that says "Get Code".  Towards the bottom there will be a link that says something like, "Add ticker to profile" and just click that and it will automatically do it.  Good luck!

I'm close to 5'11", I'm 6' foot, but I weigh a WHOLE lot more than you LOL.  I currently weigh 259 and I'm trying to get to 160.  I've been overweight my whole life, so I don't even know what size I will be.  Right now I wear a size 22 that are getting pretty loose.  I picked out a size 14 "goal-outfit" for when I eventually lose the weight, I hope it fits!

Hi Jennys_Fan,

I know what you mean about always being hungry on 1800.  I originally started off at 2000 Cal/day and was never hungry, then I dropped to 1800 Cal/day and was always STARVING.  I found that by eatting 6 300 Cal meals/snacks a day, its gotten a LOT easier.  For breakfast I can usually have a bowl of cereal with milk and a piece of fruit, for lunch I get a Lean Cuisine or make my own foods and portion them out into 300 Cal servings.  For snacks, I eat a few 100 Cal items like fruit, veggies, yogurt, pudding, etc.  Maybe this will work for you, so you don't always feel hungry?

It started for me when I wanted to help a friend of mine have a baby by donating eggs, however my eggs were unacceptable and there were risks the doctors didn't want to take because of my weight.  That bothered me a bit, but what really pushed me over the edge was watching TV shows like Queer Eye (weight loss month), Extreme Makeover, and things like that.

On all of these shows they're giving people make-overs, no matter how they looked beforehand EXCEPT for the overweight people.  The overweight people NEVER got a quick fix, they always had to lose the weight themselves before getting anything else.  It just seemed so unfair!

That made me scared because if anything ever happened and I had to go to the hospital I would be a high risk case.  I realized that why should I make my life harder when I can improve it?  And after coming to this site my health seems like second nature.  Sometimes it's hard, but I can always pull through, and when you have the choice to do it or not why would anyone choose not?  That's my way of thinking now.  I've become a lot more active lately because of it LOL.

Hi Gypsy,

I'm sorry you had such a rough day, but I hope you don't take those comments seriously (hurtful yes, but true no).  You are a very beautiful woman, and you have a natural beauty (not plastic), so for someone to say fat and ugly means they couldn't think of anything wrong with you and just choose the first hateful things that came to their head without thinking.  Like a cookie-cutter response.

You are in no way ugly, and yes you may be overweight, but that's only temporary and it's something you're fixing.  And I totally agree with Shanna, soon you will be a thin healthy beautiful woman, but for the rest of their lives those two guys will be ignorant a-holes.  They were just looking for someone to take out their aggression on, so don't take it personally.

I hope the rest of your day goes better and feel free to vent anytime!

Congrats 333!!!  I'm glad to hear the bread worked out (and that you kept trying), I know how frustrated you were in the past.

About the cravings... I'm a bread-o-holic too, but when I think of logging 100 Calories for 1 slice it usually curbs my craving LOL.  If that doesn't work for you, why not eat less Calories during the day so you can make your bread and eat it too in the afternoons?

Good Luck!

Hi Charlotte,

I haven't received this error.  The computer did give me a "I'm confused" message when I accidently went from 262 pounds to 160 pounds (meant to type 260) in a week.  What are you entering as your weight?

My periods used to be really intense the first day, then I wouldn't feel them the rest of the time.  Now the intensity has been spread out over the 5 days.  Instead of 1 really intense crippling day, I have 5 "eh" days.

Haha RavenLark, I hope that's true because I have a hard time turning down chocolate during that time, so maybe the extra calorie burning and the extra calorie consumption even out!
Weight Loss Fat and Happy: Why Most People Don't Diet Sep 29 2006

Unfortunately I can totally relate to this article  :(

I've been obese my whole life and my Mom talked to me about it and people mistook me for a pregnant woman (all my weight is on my tummy) on a regular basis, but nothing ever really affected me.  I would be sad for an hour then get over it.  I thought I looked fine and I love my features, so screw those people!

That's why I love CC.  It's not a diet, I'm **FINALLY** learning how I should have been eating my whole life.  CC is just life, it's the correct way of eating.  I was never taught that when I was younger.

Hi Shanna,

I don't think you look like a man at all.  You have very strong, sexy  eyes, I'm so jealous!

Don't listen to what those other people say, it sounds like they were just trying to be hateful.  I know I question myself sometimes when people make comments, but when I think about it, who cares what those people think?  I think I look cute, and my opinion matters more to me than some strangers.  Just remind yourself you're a hot mama and tell those other people to stuff it.

I second the Egg Beaters.  I really don't like messing with eggs, so I use egg beaters in my recipes and they always turn out great.  I am a bulk shopper, so I especially love that you can freeze them if you buy a lot at once.

Hi, I've been doing CC for a little over a month now and have lost almost 15 lbs total.  I haven't noticed much of a difference in the way I look and nobody else has noticed anything, but I FEEL a lot better, so I know it's working.  I read in another post that the first dress size takes awhile to lose, then after that it's pretty quick, so that keeps my hopes up.

If you know you're doing everything right and losing weight at a healthy pace, then I wouldn't worry about it.  You see yourself everyday, I bet if you take a picture of yourself now and in a month take another picture of yourself, you will see some changes.  Good luck, and great job on the 7kg!
Weight Loss flab question Sep 18 2006

I read a post here recently by someone with the same issue.  They figured out that they were retaining water and that's where the water weight was going.  Once they cut back on their sodium intake and started drinking more water the water weight went away and the muscle became visible.

This may be a long shot, but see if you're consuming too much sodium?  Either way, I agree with the other posters that you should keep doing what you're doing as far as exercise, it will all work itself out, it might just take some time.
Weight Loss Confused - Normal calorie expenditure Sep 15 2006
21:20 (UTC)
If it makes you feel any better, I am a 6' tall woman and it says I use 2500 Calories a day at sedentary.  I try to eat 1,800 during the weekdays and 2,000 during the weekends (can't help it!) and I've been losing weight.  So if it says you lose 2,500 I would trust it.  Just try it out for awhile and if you don't see results with what you're eating drop it a little at a time.

I can't even imagine myself eating 1300 - 1600 a day, I am just getting used to 1800.  I think your best bet is to do what's comfortable for you.
