I think the Bees are making a stand. :) Maybe they formed a union.

A question, if Bees are used to pollinate harvests, which I didn't realize, then does that mean no matter what I eat there is always going to be some form of cruelty involved? I don't know, maybe some don't see using bees that way as cruel, but maybe it is and maybe that is why they left.

I learned the formula for losing weight- & about starvation mode.

I also learned a lot about healthy eating that I didn't really understand before. I also learned and am still learning the surprising amount of calories in innocent looking things.. etc.

I just asked her that because she claims to be close to God- yet her actions are not showing this.

I didn't mean it as an insult-

Ha, thats funny. My opinions are seldom accepted around here. Sorry if that seemed disrespectful, but I don't think its wrong to point out that she is being hypocritical to her religion and therefor making others look bad for it.

and where is the edit note?

This isn't about technology MAKING people be lazy, its about technology ENABLING laziness. Do you not see the difference between the two?

No- people did not sit in fields all days and act lazy when they only knew farming as a means to live, because then they would die and their families would die from starvation.

This isn't about an excuse for the "crazy". Maybe I seem judgemental to society- and I am sorry for that- I am not saying all people are bad. I happen to think all people are GOOD, even those that kill others like Cho or President Bush.

That doesn't mean that we haven't become lazy as a society, and in return that has made us become less compassionate towards others.

You can't get mad at someone because they think Technology has hindered emotional evolution.

The evolution of technology far outweighs the evolution of .. "spirit". What I mean is that with so much focus on technological advancement we haven't focused on advancement as a whole.

You can not deny that here in the United States, every time you look around you there will be proof.

A man who is in too much of a hurry to spend time with his children.

A woman who needs assistance financially but her case is overlooked because the Social Workers are spread thin and tired and impatient from all of the pain and suffering they see that they are hardened and just say NO to move the process along.

A person bypassing a homeless on the street in a rush to get to their important meeting, then throwing a perfectly good apple into the garbage because they don't have time to eat it..

etc.

If you go to a remote village in Africa where technology has not yet overtaken their lives, where they are struggling to survive, they have a few things that we have forgotten about. Compassion, family & love. They are willing to share their last bit of food with brothers and sisters and friends, and they are starving. We WASTE food every day!

I'm not saying every single person is this way- but in general our society needs to pick up the pace on emotional evolution, ensuring it matches our technological advancements, or sooner than later we will create something horrendous and nobody will have the heart to end it.

Technology enables parents to be lazy. That is exactly my point..

It's not technology eh?

With the increase of technology there is a change in family structure-

I don't need to give evidence because all you have to do is look around you and you should see all the proof you need.

We are Zombies.

Those who choose to not see that the increase in technology has caused a decrease in morals/families etc are only blind.

Sure there were problems before- there always was and always will be- I never said there wasn't any. Did any of you happen to hear about a school full of children being shot up(by another student) in the Victorian Era? I only compare to them as they are the closest to now.

The point being not that technology is all bad- but its an ENABLER. It enables families to spend less time together, to become less connected, to shove their children in front of TV's or movies, to NOT teach morals/right from wrong/ etc because they will learn it from 7th Heaven.. or Full House or.. The Cosby Show..

And in return children grow up feeling detached from their parents, & society.

That is insane.

If you want to go on pointe then you DO IT. Its your body! They have no right to encourage you to be underweight.

My new rule is if you want to skip you have to be underweight..

Do you see how little sense that makes?

Leave that school- practice on your own.. find a personal instructor.. etc.

Do you want to be a professional ballerina? Prove the industry wrong- show them that girls who are healthy are just as wonderful in the art as those who are underweight.

Its that kind of behavior that causes people to become anorexic.

Do you want to make a difference in the world? Every action has a positive or negative reaction-- if you give in to them you will only reinforce their misconceptions. Stand up against society!

Aren't you sweet!! You didn't post that thread in an inappropriate forum. Those who come into the vegetarian forum should expect to hear exactly the kind of thing you said- and there is no reason for you to apologize.

Its like us going into a meat eaters forum and criticizing them for eating meat and then the original poster apologizing for posting..

Some people just have their minds set on arguing, and some people have a vendetta against non-meat eaters. I believe its because of their own feelings of guilt. If they don't like the point of view of a moral vegetarian then they should stay away from the vegetarian forum. Its as simple as that.

Yes I am an adult, I am 22.

The health clinics here will not provide proper medical care.

They refuse to remove my gallbladder even though it needs to be removed because I don't have insurance. They do not pay attention to my medical needs- I sit in the examination room for 3 hours and only talk to him for 5 minutes total- that is including the exam and him coming in to tell me what is up then sending me out.  This has happened at least 5 times the past two years and they always make me feel like I am wasting their time.

When I had insurance and I had my own Dr he always took the time to take care of me-

It doesn't count as medical attention if it only last 5 minutes, does it?

ETA: Yes I do have anxiety- but this isn't a result of that. I don't think it is anyways, because I have had anxiety for a long time now and I know what my symptoms of it are. I don't expect its anything serious with my heart or I would go to the emergency room. I just wondered if anyone else had experienced this. I heard it was common in people who are dieting because of a lack of minerals. My mom does have a lot of health problems but I have been tested for them since I was 13 (due to my moms concern) and always came back clear.

Okay.

I know that it is important to see a Dr but right now I can't. Until I can I was wondering if anyone else had experienced this while they were "dieting", but don't mistake me, I am not dieting but just transitioning to a healthier lifestyle.

I don't want to ignore it, that is why I asked a question.

I did some research and couldn't find anything that matched my symptoms.

Verve- thanks for the suggestion. We do have a free clinic but the Dr's there are not very attentive. I don't want to waste my time. They won't help.

First of all, 140 something pounds isn't even fat. I know your mom loves you but if she wants to encourage you not to be chubby she should lead by example and NOT call you names. There is no excuse for that. Its called emotional abuse- even when the abuser loves you.

What a horrible way to greet a daughter that you haven't seen in so long.

Well if she does make you feel fat again you will probably end up developing some sort of disorder, and not necessarily a food one.

You should be healthy for you, not because your mom is judgemental.

Is your mom fat?

Its only one day.

Are you going to let one day ruin everything you have worked for?

Everyone has days like that. Its natural.

The weight will come off if you just keep at it.

You are only 9 pounds away from your goal. I am 70+ pounds away!!! Does that make you feel better? :P

You are too hard on yourself.

It uses a points system- which means that you aren't really taught about nutrition. You can lose weight with it, but if you want to be healthy then calorie-counting is probably the best method.

I started eating veg when I was a freshman because I didn't like thinking about what meat was. I didn't even know about factory farms or slaughter houses back then either. It was just my natural instinct. It made me sick. I have a pretty weak stomach when it comes to putting things in my body: food, pills, drinks etc.

I did live with my mom & step-dad and he cooked traditional Mexican food every night & if I didn't eat that I wasn't aloud to eat anything- so after a few months I gave up on the endeavour and went back to eating meat.

I must have given myself a blind spot to block out the truth, because I couldn't handle the truth. I thought "meat" was a separate layer of the animal. I didn't understand that it was their actual body- such as if I cut off my own breast and cooked it and ate it.. that would be compared to a chicken breast. In my head if you peeled back the first layer there was a separate layer of meat and then the rest of the chicken. Does that make sense? One day I was eating a burger at Friday's and I could barely get it down, I was gagging on it and the realization came that it was an animal. I asked my boyfriend where the meat comes from and he told me, and I just couldn't eat it after that.

I've been a big supporter of animal rights/ anti-cruelty causes since I was a child. I am a very compassionate person, not only for animals but for people as well. I was doing some research and came across a PETA video. It was the one with the piggies. I was astounded. I have heard that those are fake- but I doubt that is true. My step-dad used to bring the cows to the slaughter house when he was a kid and he said that they would just shoot them in the head and that was it when I told him about the video's. He seemed sincere but I just.. couldn't get the images out of my head. Even if they were killed humanely I couldn't force the meat down my throat. It makes me sick, and now dairy is starting to make me sick as well. I have a little thing of dove ice cream in the freezer, my boyfriend will get made if I don't eat it and waste it, and I won't waste it because that would make me feel guilty but I am having a hard time forcing myself to eat it. After I finish that I will probably never touch ice cream again.

I want to know who thought of eating shrimp? What genius took that disturbing little creature out of the ocean and ate it? Seems strange to me.  They look like little baby fetuses. Poor little things.

Everyone has tried to force me to eat meat except for my boyfriend, mom and sister. His family though- woah. His mom- you can have one sausage can't you? Umm NO. It's not that I can't eat it, its that I choose to be educated with what I put in my body and dead animal is not something I want to digest.

When my kids(if I have any)are old enough to decide for themselves if they want to eat meat I will buy it from a local family farm after I research them to make sure they are humane and don't use a bunch of nasty hormones.

Sorry that is so long. Its kind of nice to vent..

Whenever my weightloss stalls I spend two days eating what I want without keeping track of my calories. Generally I lose 2-3 pounds doing that and jumpstart back onto the losing side.

I don't pig out on a bunch of junk, but I just relax and enjoy myself while eating.

It will tell you what a healthy amount of calories is to eat each day and to still lose weight.

Congratulations on the baby. :) Good job walking, and drinking water.

Don't eat less than 1500 calories or you will not keep the weight off.. you will lose it fast then gain it all back and some. Been there and done that. :( So sad.

A blimpies, thats right BLIMPIES in my neighborhood had a bad bad case of food poisoning and was shut down.

I ate from them that day. Why oh Why. It was HORRIBLE. I had food borne illness for 3 days. It was a terrible time.

What was worse- that place also catered to an elementary school and over 100 kids ended up sick, most of them ended up at the hospital.

The reason for the food poisoning.. An employee had the flu and didn't wash his hands.
