God that sucks!

How long have you owned your home. Maybe you could re-finance or soemthing to get where you want to be (Bankwise I mean).

I'm no financial wizard or anything but I hav eheard a few people at work talk about it for similar reaons.

I bought my house 4  years ago and I got a mortgage through State of NY Mortage Associtaion and was able to choose my bank, i have been lucky so far.

Banks suck!

Fitness What constitutes as 'strength training?' Jun 08 2009
18:37 (UTC)
2

Strength training is the use of resistance to muscular contraction to build the strength, anaerobic endurance and/ size of skeletal muscles.

Strength Training does not always mean lifting weights it could be using your own body weight to train a muscle. As long as there is resistance used. Classic ab work IE (situps, crunches, etc )uses your body weight as resistance. Pushups, adduction and abduction of your legs all body weight all resistance.

Just keep in mind that depending on your goals you can only go so far with training using your own body weight and that you will need to challenge your muscles, it is the natural progression.

Melkor has posted some great stuff on this subject if you search forums.

The Lounge Spring/summer I HATE CYCLISTS thread for 2009 Jun 04 2009

I think cyclists are attention whores who feel the need to ride through rush hour traffic because the know they will have all eyes on them and that is what they secretly desire.

They may as well craft the helmets they wear in the shape and hue of traffic cones because they are equally frustrating, the only difference is I wouldn't do jail time for vehicular manslaughter for hitting a traffic cone.

I love this thread cyclists have miles of trails in my town that will get them anywhere around here yet they ride in the street at rush hour and muck everything up ......attention whores YUP!

Weight Loss Thoughts on fasting Jun 03 2009
18:38 (UTC)

I personally have never fasted, and I don't recommend my clients fast either (I'm a trainer).  I do know people who swear by fasting. Everyone is different and we can certainly agree to disagree I do not want to fight or be rude this post is based simply on my observations of clients and those close to me and what I know based on my training.

My clients and friends who do fast tend to have trouble with their weight yo yoing around. As an observer I tend to blame it on the fasting. I notice that after a fast the person fasting feels very hungrier and tends to binge. Hence the yo yo effect.

Whatever you decide to do and skeptical as I am try and stay well hydrated and if you feel unwell stop!

Ricotta Cheese is awesome I like the fat free myself but it's all good in the protein realm. You can eat it with berries or any fruit really. Cottage Cheese is fantastic too. Also Kashi GoLean cereal packs a protein wallop. Nonfat yogurt is really good.

I like to take some unflavored plain fat free yogurt and mix it with a bit of Protein Powder some honey berries and some really crunchy cereal like grape nuts. This is really good for desert or after a work out. High in protein.

For dinners boca burgers rock and roll I like the original vegan ones even though I'm not vegan.

Peanut butter and other nut butters raw almonds.

I personally eat fish just no feet or feathers so if you like seafood salmon, swordfish all very good. If not forget I said that :)

All good stuff!

This is the best line in that article:

"Count Chocula was briefly discontinued to consumer conern over its sugar level. It has since been re-released in a more “healthy” form. It now has 9 less calories per cup."

Why yes that was good but what about:

"The initial run of Franken Berry contained a dye that did not break down in the body and caused the consumers stool to come out a disturbing pink. This phenomenon came to be called…wait for it…Franken Berry Stool. A new dye was quickly implemented."

Ah yes fun facts articles are enlightening

Oh Man!

I was a child of the 80's where you could never be too blonde to skinny or wear too much blue eye shadow!

I was 5'7 105 and I didn't even try to be that small I just was probably because i didn't know what a calorie was and I was too busy galavanting all over the place playing social butterfly! I thought I looked great then I put on 20 pounds in the 90's and realized I didn't look great anymore.....instead...I was Smokin Hot!

Funny how you change the way you think.

Not everyone wants to be a waif.

Weight Loss Low Carb Diets Mar 19 2009

I suppose it is personal preference but I personallly think low carb is bad. Again personal preference.

Carbs fuel your body and give you quick energy. Energy you need especially if you are working out.

GI Jane is dead on about picking carbs intelligently refined flour and sugar are "empty" they pick you up and drop you. Veggies, fruits, whole grains, beans satisfy and energize you better and are used more efficiently by your body.

I personally Have a 20, 30, 50 rule  20 % fats (good ones nuts, olive oils, etc), 30 % protein (poultry, fish, beans, soy) and 50 percent carbs as noted above.

Good luck

Abs are made in the kitchen not the gym.

Not to say that abdominal exercise will not develop those muscles it will but in order to see them it is your diet that needs a face lift.

Lowfat diets are conducive to abs because you need to lose that fat to see your ab muscles pop.

I personally like the Men's Health abs diet, yes I am female but abs don't discriminate.

Think it over and make sure it's for you. You can crunch do pilates yoga what ever but until you change your eating habits abs definition will be illusive.

Foods Does anybody do this? Mar 19 2009

Once you reach the top of the hill don't totally deprive yourself of the foods you like!

Just remember moderation!

I love a good drippy cheesy pizza once in a while!

Key words being once in a while!

Use common sense and budget it into your calorie intake.

Some people like the idea of a cheat day once a week. This is my philosophy. The day you have desert or go out to a restaurant.

Sometimes deprivation causes you to binge so by all means indulge on occasion but in moderation!
