| Health & Support | could diet coke be causing stomach pains? | Jul 29 2007 20:14 (UTC) |

| It definitely could be the Diet Coke.
I used to drink 8 cans a day (disgusting, I know), I'd guzzle them down like a camel. Eventually, after about 6 months with a combination of stress and too much Diet Coke, I got stomach ulcers. Ouch. Just be careful with how much you drink. |

| Here is my long story.
I was always the skinny child when I was little. Honestly, I looked malnourished, but I was just a little girl. I was diagnosed with OCD at age 6, and then my parents got divorced, and I went through quite a few difficult things with my father that I won't really talk about online, but it led to a diagnosis of clinical depression at age 8. The doctors weren't quite sure what to do for me, since I was one of the youngest depression patients they had, so they gave me a lovely cocktail of adult prescription medication. At one point I was taking about 7 different kinds of medication. The doctors didn't really know what the long-term effects of the medicine would be, but they didn't know what else to do for me. I went from being stick-thin to obese. At my highest weight, about 2 years ago, I was 191 at the height of 5'3", and I was only 13. I was terrified because the doctors were telling me about how much my life expectancy was going to be shortened, and that if I continued to gain weight, I would probably get diabetes and die young. So I starved myself for about a year. I shed about 35 pounds before my mom caught me throwing up. She took me to the doctor, who diagnosed me with EDNOS, and I got some counselling. I got started on a nutritional plan and I've lost almost 30 more in a year, the healthy way. Plus I've grown. So now I'm 5'6" and 137, and ideally I'd like to be 115-120 because I have a small frame. Yeah...that's my story. |

| I tried biking with my Golden Retriever once, but she was too hyper! Her leash got caught in my front wheel and I scraped my knees up pretty badly! So if you go biking with them, I'd be careful.
With my Newfoundland, swimming is really fun, if you have lakes available nearby (I live in Wisconsin, so...yeah). Rollerblading! I took my old dog out rollerblading all the time, it was great. :) |

| I'm 5'6" and 137. I wear a size S in shirts. I wear a 6 in pants and shorts, but a 4 in skirts. I think it's because I play soccer and my legs are muscular. I think it really depends on how your body is shaped, anyways, I have a friend who's about 5'9" and 125 pounds and she wears an 8. | |||

| I put a 10-pound weight on the scale to figure out how 'off' it is. And then I add/subtract depending on how off it is for the day. | |||

| Jogging! When you first start, it's absolutely terrible, and I had a hard time because I have asthma (ick). But if you work your way up, you can run...3-6 miles, and you can have more food to make up for all of the extra calories you burned. So jogging made me feel like I wasn't starving. | |||

| It's not disgusting! I was 14 and 191 a year ago. And fasting doesn't work, you'll gain back whatever you lost the second you eat something.
My advice is to read some of the threads on here about calories in/out, and exercise like crazy. :) |
