Been a little MIA lately - had to travel to LA for work and it's been a little nutso around here!!

Please add 4 miles from Wednesday, 5 from Thursday (on a dreaded hotel treadmill), 4.25 from yesterday and 7 from today.

Got the half marathon next Sunday and I'm a bit worried...haven't really had a decent run in quite some time....it's a mental thing at this point. I'm hoping to have a good run tomorrow - one that feels like I'm not going to die after the 2nd mile!!!  From there, just some light cross training Monday through Wednesday..and then nothing until the race on Sunday morning.

Hoping to at least be at the same time as my last 1/2 back in January 2:07:43, but we'll see. A lot's been going on these last couple of weeks and my workouts, eating and sleeping patterns have all been screwy.

Please add 4 miles for me from today. I'm not sure what's going on with me, but I seem to be really tired these days. I took both Saturday and Sunday off, and still struggled to run 4 miles on the treadmill.

Maybe I'm overtraining? Seems a little odd, since I really haven't logged any significant mileage. I ran a 12 miler - but that was last Sunday....over a week ago. I've recently started to push myself to run a bit faster - a 9:30 min/mile pace instead of a 9:40 - 9:50 min/mile pace, but none of those runs were over 6 miles....

Hmph - half marathon is at the end of the month, and I'm starting to get a bit nervous that my body just isn't ready. It's my second one, so technically, I know I can do it. My first one was last January, and I finished it in 2:07.....but a lot has happened since then (with the cancer, the surgery, the treatment and the recovery etc. etc.)....so maybe, I'm not as ready as I thought?

Maybe it's just my nerves getting the best of me.....I'm in LA on business this week, until Thursdsay, and again next week - so my workout schedule is a little "off". Will try and get some kind of workout done while I'm here, but it's not looking good. On top of meetings during the day, I've got scheduled breakfasts and dinners as part of the "strategy sessions" that the company has planned this week.

Sorry for the ramble - just a little frustrated with my workouts lately and had to vent.

270.6 miles to go (includes hecticred and my mileage)

Please add 6.25 miles for me today.

Finally able to run that distance at a 9:30 min/mile pace. I've been struggling to maintain anything faster than a 9:40 min/mile to 9:50 min/mile for ages.....Eventually, would like to run a half marathon sub 2 hours....but I'm still a ways from that yet.

please add 5 miles for me from today. Finally got up the nerve to get the heck off the treadmill and run outdoors on a week day - a rare treat.....

It was a nice day - bright sun, cool breeze - perfect conditions for an easy 5 miler.

Please add 12.5 miles for me from Sunday. It was a rather lazy weekend - so I didn't manage to motivate myself to run on either Saturday or Monday....oh well, I suppose a rest weekend isn't a bad thing :)

Tomorrow is rest day, and then (hopefully) a 10 - 12 miler on Sunday. Will report back with my mileage from the weekend on Monday.

Please add 6 miles for me from today.

I think my body is just plain tired. I was traveling on business last week, and went straight from LA to my husband's hometown for a memorial service over the weekend. I ran an 11 miler in the heat on Saturday, and did a tough 6 mile hike on Sunday (last request of the deceased was to have her ashes scattered on her favorite mountain peak).

All my workouts this week have been really tough....I may just take a few days off and see if giving myself 100% rest will help get me back on track.

Please add 11 miles for me from Saturday. Managed to get a long, hard run in - despite having spent all of Friday traveling. I flew home from LA, only to be stuck in a car for 3 hours as hubby and I traveled to his hometown for a memorial service. I thought I'd bring my running gear "just in case"....and managed to will myself out of bed at 7:30 on Saturday to get it done.

I'm glad to be home and am looking forward to getting back to my regular routine.

Please add 5 miles for me from yesterday. I managed to force myself to use the hotel's gym after work (which is an amazing feat when you consider that I had to get up at 4:00am to catch my flight, put in a full day at the office and also HATE working out when I'm not at my "usual" gym, or running the familiar routes around my home)

Hoping to get another run in after work tonight....

Please add another 10 miles for me from Saturday.

Am traveling on business this week, so I'm hoping to get at least 2 or 3 workouts in.....we'll see - I haven't always been the best about working out while I'm on the road.
Fitness Training for Half Marathon; what food do I eat? Aug 08 2008

Congrats on your progress!!

One thing that I've read over and over (from some of the online training guides that I've used for my own 1/2 marathon training purposes) is that your "long" runs should be at a pace that's 1.5 to 2 min/mile SLOWER than your 5K pace.

Sounds like you're doing that already....running your 8km at a 8.5km/hr pace. Maybe try slowing down even more and increase your distance for your "long run" each week.

Good luck and have fun!

kscout - Wow, I am so impressed by your 20 miler!! I'm tempted to train for a full marathon (I did my first half in January, and have my second one coming up at the end of September), but seem to be a bit intimidated by the distance. Your weight loss journey and running achievements are truly inspirational!!!

I've actually had the opposite from msh happen to me. I've been running for exactly 2 years (started on my b-day 2 years ago, and it's my b-day today).....

I haven't lost a lot of weight (only added exercise, haven't been counting calories or making drastic changes to my eating habits) - only 30lbs in 2 years. That said, I've dropped 3 dress sizes - and probably around 3 or 4 inches off of each thigh.

Please add 3.1 miles for me from yesterday. Managed to finish the 5K in 27:04....about 4 seconds short of my PR.

It's been hard getting back into running after my surgery in March, and I'm a bit slower than I was pre-surgery, so I was pretty excited about yesterday's run.
Fitness Took a long break...now training to run a half Aug 04 2008

I'm running in a 1/2 marathon on 9/28.

Did my first 1/2 mary on Jan 13th this year - finished in just a little over 2:07....hoping to at least run the same pace this time around.

Had to take a little time off due to some health issues in March, but am pretty much back on track. I followed Hal Higdon's training schedule to prepare for the half back in the New Year. Since then, I've just pretty much been coasting along, doing mostly medium distance runs for my workouts (5 - 8 miles per run). I'm scheduled to run a 12 miler this weekend....and I'll probably do a couple of 15 milers (I like to overshoot my goal...psychologically, it helps me because I know I can do the 13.1 mile distance).

Originally, I was hoping to do a sub 2 hour half marathon, but given that I'm still recovering from the surgery (no lasting side effects, thankfully, but I can feel it in my energy levels and endurance).....I think I'll just hope to finish at a 10 min/mile pace. It's still my goal to finish a 1/2 marathon in under 2 hours - but I think I'll save that for another race. This upcoming one is just about proving to myself that I'm back on track.

Hi there - been a bit MIA this past week - was backpacking in the Pioneer Mountains, MT for a while....and spent the rest of the week relaxing, not having to be at work.

I did manage to get a couple of runs in. Please add 3.1 miles from Thursday, 6.25 miles from Sunday and 6 miles from today.

Thanks!

Please add a measly 2.5 miles for me from today. I had the most incredible side stich, and despite my efforts to exhale with great force and rid my body of the excess C02, I just couldn't get rid of it, and couldn't run through the pain.

Oh well....will try and do a "long-ish" run tomorrow.
