| Weight Loss | possible to lose 30 pounds in 3 months? | Feb 13 2008 17:13 (UTC) |

| It is possible, I lost @40 lbs in a very short period of time. But I was a lot fatter than you. The closer I get to my goal the slower it comes off and the harder I have to work at it. I did it by counting calories. | |||

| I understand your pain, I am not a sweets eater either, But I had some cookies that were out of this world. Of course I broke weak and gorged. I think you are funny and smart, and you already know what to do. Quit beating yourself up, and keep up the humor, at least you are happy! | |||

| Foods | wheres the beef? | Nov 03 2007 16:46 (UTC) |

| I wasn't saying that beef was bad, I was just saying that trying to stay in a reasonable range of calorie intake. that beef seems like a bad chioce for me. 3 oz of meat for me is a bite, and would not fill me up, which is part of my problem. I have tried ground turkey in chili and spagetti . I thought it was good with less calories. But ground turkey isn't a good burger. I will try the mushroom burger. thanks for the ideas | |||

| Weight Loss | How often do you all weigh yourselves, and why? | Apr 03 2007 16:01 (UTC) |

| I weigh myself twice a day. It gives me the motivation to see where I am, and where I need to be. I know some may think I am a slave to the scale, but I get so excited when I see a downward trend. | |||

| Weight Loss | My scale still isnt moving!! | Mar 16 2007 11:54 (UTC) |

| Gary I was on a plateau myself, but what i didn't realise was that when i started workingout that I was gaining muscle faster than I was losing fat. Don't panic, and keep doing good, Make sure you are logging all your food, including snacks. and pay attetion to your measurements. I would think that you are probably still losing inches. I hope you break it soon, I know it sucks, but you can get through it. I know you can because I broke mine, and I am the most impatient person in the world. Good luck!!!!!!! | |||

| Health & Support | Please, any success stories for weight loss and stopping smoking? | Mar 12 2007 21:33 (UTC) |
9 |
| I quit smoking, and I put on about 50 lbs, since then I started my diet and I have lost 57lbs. I would worry about one thing at a time. I think it is good that you haven't gained, but if you do intially, so what. The risk factors of smoking are terrible. If you are over you urges now, then by all means continue trying to lose. What is most important is that you have chosen a path of better living. Don't give up. Congrats on both!
I also want to say the reason I put so much on is because I ate terribly. So i would think that if you aren't doing that. you shouldn't gain. But it is so easy to pick up candy or something out of habit, and I think that is why smokers gain. If you aren't doing that, don't worry about a lot of gain. |

| I am not a Doctor, but I do have medical training. If I had to guess, I would say you are dehydrated. You need to drink lots of water, and juices. This is not uncommon when we are sick. I hope you get to feeling better. | |||

I feel for your pain, I am also on a low cal diet, that the members of calorie count don't agree with. I have been bashed as well, and really done some bashing back. I hope that what you are doing is safe and working for you. I will say this, the people on here are very opinionated, they are passionate about what they believe. I myself am the same way. But as i was reminded by Igor, this site is to help people get ideas, and to share ideas. whether or not we agree, it isn't a place to bash or to be mean to others. You will however find that most on here, really only want to help. And if they disagree with you it is usually because they have either, done it already, or know of someone that has. If you remain friendly and truly want to help, there are several people on here that can and will help you. But if you fight with them and bash them back, you will only get a reputation like I did, and nobody will take you seriously. I do wish you luck on your weight loss, however you get it done. As long as it it safe and effective to you. And I am sorry that some feel you are annoying. I just think you are like many of us, a little confused on what is right and wrong and really just want the same things. To lose weight effectively and safely. |

| Weight Loss | Buying equipment when 300lb. | Feb 28 2007 16:32 (UTC) |
1 |
| you can also look, online and look for clearance specials. i bought an ellyptical machine that was normally over 300 and got it shipped to my house for 165 including shipping. it was from the sharper image. also it is not a stationary bike, so no need for a seat. i have no idea if it will last but it seems like a good piece of equipment. you can also get on msn and look at different exercises that you do not need any machines. i tried them with some results, but i am the type to get bored with that type of stuff, and i have found that using a machine, i am more stable, and i am myslef at a lower risk of injury.
i also found a stepper at a garage sale for twenty five dollars. it isn't elaborate or anything but it works. |

| Weight Loss | Is "starvation mode" a real thing? | Feb 28 2007 16:20 (UTC) |

| wes,
i think you are getting the wrong idea about me. i am not recommending anything at all, and i am sorry you feel that i am. i don't appreciate you calling me an idiot either, because all of the things i said was true, i expirienced them myself. this is a thread about starvation mode. and the author of this post had some valid questions. I have felt the same way as this person, and i am seeking friendly advice. so be friendly, and maybe people will take you a little more seriously |

| Weight Loss | Is "starvation mode" a real thing? | Feb 28 2007 03:10 (UTC) |

| i think you have to do both, eat less and eat better. a little exercise might be nice, but i don't think is required. I still don't understand the starvation mode. i think it has to with not being consistent. i think starvation mode is just a different word for plateau. | |||
