Birthday Cake Remix is my fave and I used to work there! The strawberry banana shake, made with vanilla ice cream, fresh (or frozen, just nothing with a lot of syrup) strawberries, and half a banana is to die for. I'm also a fan of Cookie Minster and Our Strawberry Blonde. My former coworker there loved the raspberry sorbet with gummi bears, which is worth a try if you love fruity stuff, it's also a LITTLE more diet-friendly. LOL. |

| ratinhat it sounds like you may have a condition. It's genetic and it's called vaso-something something. I had a friend who had it. My only big fear is cockroaches. I have had many terrible experiences with them. It's hard to narrow it down to just one, but if i had to pick, it would be the time when I was in a hotel washing my hands after going to the bathroom and one came up the sink drain. It was at least 3 inches long. I don't remember any sounds happening after that, but my friends said I shrieked like a banshee. I honestly don't remember screaming or making a peep or even hearing any noise at all, all I remember is seeing it crawling towards my hands and being so scared and disgusted. My boyfriend (now my husband) had to come and kill it, and THEN I cried- that is how I know it scared the **** out of me, that I broke down later. That's how I react to extreme stresses- I have a big reaction when it is happening, good or bad depending on the situation (like the time i had to give first aid to a guy who had a seizure, I bascially took over the situation ordering ppl around bc nobody knew what to do, although my personality is normally very quiet and submissive), then break down and cry later. It's funny, I don't get scared like that for any other bug, even huge spiders. Sure, they are kind of freaky and can startle me if I don't know they are there, but it's nothing like a nasty roach... I think part of it is that you are never really sure if they are dead (oh god!!!!) and that they multiply so fast... |

| The Lounge | Dating a Mexican? | Nov 09 2007 21:45 (UTC) |

| Well, i am Mexican, my husband is Puerto Rican, but we both grew up in the States. I think it's funny that the OP and others said their Mexican loved ones are healthy eaters, because in our family, eating a traditional Mexican dinner meant lots of greasy food! And yes, we did and SOMETIMES still do use lard... I think it really depends on where in Mexico the family comes from. The poorer border towns tend to use a lot of grease but also use fresher foods, whereas in the Mexico City area you eat more seafood and less lard, but i guess more processed stuff is available as well. As for my husband, he can't stand anything fresh that came out of the ground lol! Fresh to him means 'recenlty cooked', he will not eat anything raw including fruits and veggies. He loves salty food with tons of seasoning and won't eat fruit period, just juice. He will sometimes eat certain vegetables if they are incorporated into a sauce or soup or baked into a casserole or otherwise 'hidden'. And trustwomen, his mom has been known to serve lasagna with a side of rice, lol. The thing I find the most ironic though, is that even though he comes from an island, he can't stand seafood! This makes me sad. :( Oh well... |

I would keep tabs on it, but don't worry about it if it never gets worse. Just be careful and don't go rapidly from sitting to standing or lying to standing. I have orthostatic hypotension. It's not a big deal for me, I have never fallen down. I just get a headachy, dizzy feeling when i get up in the morning or get up from a lying position and lose vision for a few seconds, so I know I always have to get up slowly. I have always had low blood pressure, so i have always dealt with it and thought for a long time everybody went through the same thing. |

| Weight Loss | Only two drinks: is this normal? | Oct 24 2007 20:54 (UTC) |

| postalemployed, i think you meant to say different substances are absorbed and processed differently in the body. Remember, a calorie is a unit of energy. Like a pound is a unit of weight. A calorie from alcohol does not cause more or less potential weight gain than a calorie of bread or vegetables, just like a pound of feathers is not lighter than a pound of bricks (well i guess that would be probably about one brick... you get my point). However, alcohol will change the body's chemistry and may make it do weird things, things that may be different from one body to the next depending on many different factors, and that is the point i think you were making. Remember, a calorie is a calorie. | |||

I just want to lose ten pounds of body fat specifically... I don't need to lose weight but I actually made a bet with my husband that I could lose ten pounds of fat before he could lose ten pounds period and the winner gets $300. :-0! The only rule is, you can't starve yourself. I checked my body fat at the beginning and it was 33%!!!! That's 45 pounds of fat!!! I haven't gotten mine rechecked yet and need to soon. My husband is overweight and he is very competitive. Competition is really the only thing that truly motivates him. So I made this bet with him, even though i don't need to lose weight (I'm 135 and 5'8"). Honestly though, even if i did get down to 125 (not likely) it would still be a 'safe' weight. But I really don't care if I lose or gain pounds as long as I put on some muscle and get rid of this FAT!!! |

Nope, it's good. Just be careful and don't overdo it. You mean you do 25 reps? Sheesh that's a lot of reps. You don't need to do that much. 15-20 is a very safe range for all ages.

| Weight Loss | Anyone else with insomnia when losing weight? | Aug 16 2007 13:36 (UTC) |
19 |
No, but here are two things that can do it:
1. Exercising too close to your bedtime, because of the release of adrenaline during workouts. 'Too close' varies from person to person so if your exercise time is in the early afternoon or evening, you may want to switch it to the morning. 2. Not eating enough carbohydrates for your brain to function properly and trigger release of enough seratonin. If you are on a low-carb diet or not eating carbs after a certain point of the day, this might be the problem. Many low-carbers experience insomnia, especially if they are actually sticking to it, lol. You could start eating a light, low-calorie carb as a bedtime snack (glass of milk, for example) or a protein with tryptophan such as turkey. 3. Just not eating enough calories can also cause sleep patterns to change. |

| Weight Loss | Question about body composition | Aug 16 2007 00:36 (UTC) |

I have heard of one quick fix solution for saggy skin, sharon. Hemmorhoid cream. But it doesn't have a cumulative or long-lasting effect, sorry. But if you rub it in on a day you are wearing shorts or a bathing suit, you might see some difference. Bodybuilders, models, figure competitors, etc. use it to tighten up wherever they have saggy bits (abs, inner thigh, butt). Also, tanning covers a multitude of sins, so if you have that option go for it. But be safe. |

| Fitness | weight lifting without protein, can I get some advice? | Aug 14 2007 19:42 (UTC) |

| peanut butter and whole-grain bread or beans and rice. Beans and nuts both have tons of protein. You could also try nutella, I have heard it's a better option than PB. Be careful b/c nuts and PB are also high in fat. | |||
| Weight Loss | What if I can't avoid processed food and sodium? | Aug 14 2007 19:31 (UTC) |
|
| PS: you can make canned pasta sauce healthier by adding fresh diced tomatoes (along with other fresh things like basil, garlic, oregano, mushrooms and peppers if you wish) into it while heating it over the stove. This also stretches your dollar b/c you get more sauce out of it. My husband, who is a big salt-a-holic, loves it when I do this b/c it makes it chunkier and 'heartier'. If you want to 'hide' things in there just make sure you dice everything up tiny. I bet your dad won't even know the difference. | |||

| Why don't you volunteer to make dinner for your dad/family just one night a week, that way you can at least eat healthy for that night. Surely you could afford to make just one dinner a week. Who knows, your dad just may like the food you make and start requesting that you cook more often (to which you could respond, I would if i could afford it... hint hint...) or even making some of your healthier recipes on his own! And if nobody likes it but you, hey, plenty of leftovers! | |||

| This is not really paranormal, but it is just something that made me happy. A few years ago one of my uncles (my dad's brother) and my grandfather (my dad's dad) died, one right after the other. Recently I had a dream that my whole family (dad's side) got together at my grandfather's old house for a dinner. It looked like a thanksgiving dinner. This would be weird because that side of the faimly isn't getting along so well right now. Well, we all sat down and after we all had come together and started talking and eating, my grandfather and uncle appeared. They were smiling and happy, and they were eating and drinking too. I looked around to see if anyone else saw them. I looked at my dad and he said, Yep, I see them too. Then I woke up. |

| The worst movies i have seen recently are georgia rule and the last mimzy. I went to the first one b/c my sis in law bribed me with ice cream. The second one we rented. A mean friend told us it was good. We couldn't finish watching it so i have no idea how it ends. It was horrible. I know it was a kid movie, but man, it was horrible. I want to see hot fuzz. Have heard it's great. |

| if you reaaaally don't want to put on more muscle, and in fact want to lose some, do only bodyweight exercise and lots of cardio as mentioned before. I would warn you NOT to do a lot of high-impact stuff though. Try swimming, elliptical, and cycling. If you don't have a pretty fair amount of muscle on your legs to protect the joints it may not be good to run all the time. I don't get it either, and i'm a girl... i would much rather have a j-lo booty than a flat, bony bum! I could understand if you just don't want to buy new clothes though, lol. |
