Good Morning Everyone!

Thought I'd post and get this thread back on the front page. I hope everyone is having a great weekend. I know many of us have been battling various issues when it comes to our weight. It NEVER gets any easier, does it? I battle the same demons as each of you and I'd love to have just one week of my life where I don't have to worry about every morsel of food that goes into my mouth. I'm hesitate to actually type that out . . . remember the old saying, "Be careful for what you wish?" No telling what the alternative "worry" or "struggle" would be!

My thoughts and prayers are with each of you this weekend. I appreciate each of you and your willingness to share your weight loss struggles AND successes. Just by reading the posts I can tell that this thread is a lifeline to many of us.

Terri

Good Morning Everyone!

I hope everyone is having a great day! Does anyone have any major plans for the upcoming weekend?

Everyone stick to your program, drink your water, and MOVE today!

Sometimes that is easier said than done, but I need to hear it OFTEN, so I thought I'd put it out there in black and white!

Hi Everyone!

Hope everyone's weekend is going great! It has been a rough weekend for me. I made the mistake of eating the soup, salad, and bread sticks at Olive Garden on Thursday and I can't seem to STOP eating everything in sight! I HATE this! This is why it is not even worth "splurging" at ALL for me! It is just to hard to get back on track. Does anyone else have to battle this?

If I do "splurge" I typically walk, walk, walk to get back on track, and yes, this generally does help! However, I am not able to do that now due to recent surgery on both legs. I even called my surgeon last week to see if I could resume brisk walking for exercise, and he promptly said, "No way! Not for at least two more weeks!" It's not that I just LOVE to walk for exercise, it is how I get back on track, stay in control, and it helps keep depression at bay!

Anyway, I appreciate each of you and your contributions to this thread. I read it several times a day to help with motivation and encouragement. I don't feel I always "give" what I "take" from this board, but I'd love to offer any help or encouragement to anyone who might need it! I have lost almost 100 pounds over the past year, of course that is NOTHING compared to the TON I've probably lost over the past 30 plus years of my life! I bet a lot of us have those tales of weight lost.

I hope each of you have a blessed Sunday!

Gorda . . . you'll get back on schedule. It is just one day. We have the rest of our lives to learn new habits and healthy eating and we can't expect to always have "perfect" days. I'm thinking of you . . . because I know how hard it can be to get back on schedule.

Each of you are so inspiring and motivating! You all are doing so great! It's a hard fought battle, but we are doing this! I'm so proud of and for each of us! Isn't it wonderful to be a loser?

I've lost 90 pounds since July 2006.

Hopefully we will continue to be successful losers!

Hope everyone had a safe and happy fourth of July! Was this a day to splurge or a day to keep on track no matter what? It does not matter . . . yesterday is gone and today is a brand new day. If you indulged a bit with the hotdogs and chips, just get right back on track today! We can all do this and think how wonderful we will feel when we are healthy and fit and able to live our life, instead of our life living us!

Have a great day! I'll be thinking of each of you!

Eleven pound weight loss is GREAT! Do NOT give up hope because of ONE bad choice. Try to get back on track NOW, drink lots of water, go for your spinning and yoga tomorrow, and just think of this as "fooling" your system. It might fool your metobolism and jumpstart your weight loss again.

You can do this! Good luck and I'll be thinking of you!

I agree with Violetorchid8. Get back on track immediately and stay OFF the scales until you ARE back on track. After three or four days of doing as you know you should, THEN get on the scales. No need in weighing now and getting discouraged before you have a chance to rectify your little detour!

Good Luck! I know how hard it is to stay on track and it's even harder to get back on track! For the first time in my life I truly stop and THINK about what I'm about to put in my mouth, because I KNOW how hard it is for me to get back on track and it's just not worth the few seconds of pleasure my taste buds get to have to go through that.

You can do this! We can all do this . . . one day, one meal at a time!

Hi Kerry!

Welcome! That great that you have lost almost 40 pounds! You are on your way down! It's hard, and I believe I will always struggle with my weight, but at least we have some form of support, motivation, and encouragement here in this forum.

Hi Everyone!

How is everyone's weekend going? Everyone getting ready for a big fourth of July? I don't worry about getting off the program to much on this day. Most people grill out for the fourth, and in terms of healthy eating, this should be easy for most of us. Just about any meat is healthier grilled than fried. Chicken on the grill is yummy! I know the hard part will be leaving the fattening side food items alone, like the chips, dips, and sugar and fat laden sweets. I try to fill up on protein first, and leave the bread and other dishes alone, or at least partake of very little.

I'll be thinking of you all and hope you have a terrific fourth of July!

I've always had HUGE thighs! Even when I lost weight I had huge, flabby thighs. Not now ........... but of course I am recovering from a thigh lift now! Drastic and I hope no one else has to go to this extreme, but no amount of squats would have helped my thighs!

Sadly, Insecure_Teen, the male species does not get any easier to deal with as you get older! I'm 47 and they STILL mess me up!

Good luck Sweetie! I hope your day gets better! Maybe eat a tiny piece of chocolate, call a good friend, and go out for a hot, healthy dinner, and enjoy yourself and your feminity! Believe me, if they keep us females "messed-up," just imagine what us females must do to them?

Small consolation now, but hopefully you'll feel better soon!

I'm sorry you are depressed Anony444! I know how you feel. It seems like you can only fight so many battles before you feel like giving up! I know where you are coming from. I'm going through a divorce and now, most days I'm okay and moving forward with my life, but today I just want to have a big old pity party and eat all the sinful things I know I should NEVER eat!

I hope your interview went better than you think. Maybe you will get the call that you got the job. What type of job was it? I'll be thinking of you and GREAT  JOB on resisting temptation to go after the cheesecake!

Good Morning Everyone! I hope you all got a good night's rest and feel ready to face a new day! It looks as if it is going to be a beautiful day here in Florida!

I am just over a week out from having thigh lift surgery, so I'm not able to move around very easily. Mostly just to the bathroom and kitchen for drinks and food. I've done fairly well this week as far as my eating goes, but I am starting to get cabin fever! I've been reading each of your posts to keep me motivated and on track. Thanks to each of you for your input!

I see that several of you walk for exercise. I do to when I am able! I found a website with a vast variety of walking music with different beats (speeds) to help keep your pace up and even. I only have the Ipod Shuffle, but I LOVE this device to help me keep not only my pace up, but motivated to move as well! There are all types of music to choose from and it's not bad. I don't think most of it is by original artists, but it makes the time FLY! Most of the songs are at least five minutes or more long. The website I used was www.mywalkingmusic.com, but I'm sure there are many more if you just search.

Thanks again to each of you for your support and encouragement! We all know this is a tough battle, but we can do it if we just stay focused on what is important, US!!

Good Morning Everyone!! I hope you all are doing well! I hope this journey we are all on together has been a little easier since we joined this forum. I know when I feel like I MUST have something to eat, and usually NOT a healthy choice, I grab my laptop and read the new entries in the thread. It works. I read and am re-motivated and then I, once again, feel in control.

I know this will always be a struggle, but I'd rather be struggling at 150 than at 250! I hope each of you have a wonderful day. Welcome to all the members who joined this forum yesterday.

Hi Brenda, you are on your way to losing the weight, and that is what is important! Great job on the 3+ pound weight loss! Try not to concentrate on the total weight you want to lose, because I promise no matter the amount, it has all been overwhelming to each of us in this group at one time or the other! Right now just work on getting below 300 pounds, then below 295, etc. and before you know it you will be one healthy, HOT woman!

Best of luck!

Good job on riding the bike for an hour Dee! I'll give you a pat on the back! I'm in pain already from a thigh lift six days ago, so I'll never notice another muscle ache!  ;o)

I will update my profile a bit later with info, but I thought I'd introduce myself here first. My name is Terri, I'm 47, and I live in the Florida panhandle. I am 5'4" and I currently weigh in the low 160's (but hope to be in the 150's when some of this swelling goes down). I've lost approximately 100 pounds for about the third time (sad, huh?) and am desperately trying to win the daily battle in the constant war of weight control! For the first time in my life I think I finally realize this will always be a battle for me and one of the main reasons I joined this site, not only for support and motivation, but UNDERSTANDING as well!

Ideally I would like to lose another 25 to 30 pounds, but I don't know if this is realistic. If I can maybe lose another ten pounds and MAINTAIN I will be estatic! I will definitely be looking to this group for support and encouragement!

I hope each of you have a great week and I'm so grateful to Bonna for starting this group! My excitement in finding this group kept me from raiding the pantry earlier this morning! I want to take all I can from this group, but I would love to give back! If any of you have questions or concerns or just need someone who understands, I'd love to help if I can!

Oh I'd LOVE to join this group! I think my "hors are DEFINITELY moaning" this morning, because I just left the weight loss forum in frustration. I know that all ages should be concerned with a HEALTHY body, but I am sick of opening a thread with a subject line of, "PLEASE HELP . . . I GAINED 3 pounds!" Open the thread and it's a sixteen year old who is 5'whatever inches, weighs 95 pounds, and panicing over gaining 3 pounds. I guess I wish I had been as concerned over my weight at 16, but there ARE some of us (aren't there?)  who'd just be happy to lose DOWN to 195 or even 295 . . . much less 95 pounds?

I actually came into this forum to post a thread to ask if I was the only member who is over 30 years old! Can you tell I'm frustrated? A sure sign of "moaning hors!" ;o)    I've got all the issues plus some mentioned in the original post. THANK YOU BDMULLALY for starting this group!

May I add you all to my"friends" list? Of course you may add me!
Weight Loss Question about exercising and water... Jun 18 2007

Well, I'm no 'xpert on this . . . but I do know you need to stay hydrated to keep the body flushed of toxins and the fat and stuff we are trying to lose. Supposed to do this by drinking lots of water. I know this too . . . doesn't mean I do it, but I know it!

;o)

Sorry I'm not more help . . . but I felt bad for no one responding.

I'm sure the experts will be along shortly to inform us both properly!

Best of luck with your exercise, water, and battle for the better body!

Weight Loss Surgery to remove excess skin Jun 18 2007

I've had a few private messages asking about my procedures and pricing. I don't mind sharing, so I'll do it here publicly, and if I can be of help to anyone, please don't hesitate to ask.

I had a tummy tuck in 1991 and back then, my insurance (BCBS) covered it. However, if I had the same procedure today, ins would not cover it. A good friend just had a tummy tuck with a hysterectomy at the same time and she paid the plastic surgeon $5300.00. I THINK BCBS Ins. covered her three night hospital stay for the hysterectomy, therefore for the TT. I believe she'd have had to pay approximately $1000.00 extra for hospital if having TT alone.

I had a breast reduction/lift and extensive lipothis past December. BCBS covered the reduction and I paid approximately $4000.00 for the lift and lipo.

I had thigh lift on June 12th and paid $5000.00 to my plastic surgeon. Right NOW might not be the BEST time to ask about the thigh lift procedure . . . gimme another week and I'll be it's biggest cheerleader!

I do know that price differs greatly in different parts of the country. I'm in Florida and had the surgery in SE Alabama. According to different plastic surgery discussion boards, the procedures I had would be double to triple what I paid.

I do recommend anyone with body issues at the very LEAST have a consultation with a plastic surgeon. Many people believe it's out of reach price-wise, but where there is sagging skin, there is a way!

If I can answer any questions I'd be happy to help!
Weight Loss Surgery to remove excess skin Jun 17 2007

I don't see your age 1heaven, but in my opinion, short of a miracle, a 100 pound weight loss will result in excess skin. Yes, it will retract somewhat, but my experience has been that, for instance, if your stomach tends to fold down toward or over your pubic area, the skin will always hang down.  When I was 32, I had a 100 pound weight loss and had the excess skin in my stomach area and my thighs have always been just huge.

After that weight loss I had a consult with a plastic surgeon and he confirmed what I suspected, that no amount of exercise, sit-ups, praying, etc. was going to get rid of that excess stomach skin. I opted for the tummy tuck and loved the result then and almost 17 years later I still love the results, even though I have regained AND  LOST almost 100 pounds two more times! Yes, sad, isn't?

At any rate, I'm 47 and had breast reduction/lift in December of 2006 and had a thigh lift five days ago. There might be one person in a gazillion that the ravages we put our body through due to weight loss/gain will NOT have to have surgery to remove excess skin to have the body we desire . . . otherwise, we have to either have the surgery or learn to love our body just the way it is.

I would encourage ANYONE who has lost the weight and has excess skin to at least consult with a plastic surgeon. It has been the BEST money I have ever spent (for the initial consultation) for some expert information and advice.

Plastic surgery is not for everyone, but even sitting here five days out and wondering "why the heck did I do this?", I know in a month I will LOVE the results!

Best of luck! Hopefully you will be the one in a gazillion!

Congratulations on your weight loss to date! That is terrific and it sounds as if you have this thing under control! I found that my biggest help in losing a lot of weight was discovering my husband was having multiple affairs. I dropped 30 pounds in three weeks and a total of 100 in six months. Granted, not the best way to do it, but hey, whatever works!

This is said in jest, of course, and I do NOT condone or recommend utilizing a wandering spouse for weight loss benefits!

Are you still compiling info for the graph? I noticed the original post date was September of 2006. I assume if this was for a college class, the class ended before Christmas? I'll be happy to post my stats if needed, but I suspect this is an old post that was "revived."

However, I'd love to see your results. Did you/will you post it?
