Well the reason why Somolians have picked up a lot of cooking techniques from Indians is because Somolia used to be a huge oceanic trading post that included spices and what not from India. The Italians did a lot of tradin there as well so Somolians tend to cook a fusion of italian/idian food. |

Oh man I think of so many things - especially philosophically that friend have told me to take a journal so I can write down all of my epiphanies! I think of the President, California being in debt, college, why things are as they are, medical schools, ect. |

wow its very interesting to see all of the responses.
Well I have to say that I may or may not be going outside without shoes anytime soon. I prefer running on the trail than the road just cause my dogs love to come but i hate running and holding a leash so on the trail I can set them free as I control my stride and everyone is happy - - but anyway I fear that a rock would or some other small indescrimanate raw material would jab into my feet.
So for others who find themselves getting soar from running I am one who as of late was getting sore (mostly my knees) a few hours or the following day from running and as I believe I proposed in my OP that it has to be my year old shoes and I have to say that I never ever felt sore the next day and I did it again today and still dont feel sore!
And yes - - my feet get hot but I dont think it is anymore hot than how hot my feet get inside of a shoe, know what I mean? |

After reading more, I think I need to adjust my seat to be higher. I am a pretty flexible person (source: my yoga instructor). But the note about having a seat too low stressing my knees may be the reason why after my ride on Friday my right knee was a bit achy. Call me headstrong or stubborn but I would rather just continue trial and error than pay someone who may or may not know a lot about bikes. I wish my grandfather were still alive, he rode his bike around the world, took two years! |

I found a blog from a search engine (google) that says soreness in the ankles, Achilles tendon, and/or calves is from "toeing" when you peddle. I guess toeing is when your foot is too far forward on the peddle and you point your toes when you ride.
So along with posture, where are your feet? I don't clip in, I am too scared too. I get a claustrophobic feeling when I think about being clipped onto my peddles. And when you are peddlaing are you digging your heals in or the middle of your foot? |

I haven't read what others say but I think that you should definately NOT get another JRT.
I have one as well and these are solitary dogs. I do not think they like being around others. My JRT always becomes a completely different dog when my parents dogs are around. He is always with me and in my room, I've had him for 10 years so he is attached. I feel like others say the same about their JRTs.
JRT's are very attractive dogs I am sure that little boy won't have a problem finding a home for him where he can rule the nest and not have to have split attention. |

Okay so I've read all of the suggestions. I already have a rack on my bike but since I carry so much (change of clothes, towel for the shower, change of shoes, notebooks, general school supplies) I split the load and put the change of clothes and what not on the rack and my notebooks and backpack on my back. My backpack unfortunately does not fit onto my rack :(. I have considered buying a new smaller backpack or book bag type deal so the school stuff can go on the rack and my clothes on my back since they are obviously lighter. I just havent had time in the past few weeks cause I've had one exam/lab report after another. What do you guys mean exactly though by getting a bike fitted? I've moved my seat up to a comfortable height and the handlebars as well. I also had the entire thing tuned up right after I bought it (85 bucks off of craigs list for an older Fugi 14 speed bike. . . my gear "clutches are old school). But yeah, I am not sure by fit what you guys mean.
I recently read about cadence and how I want to be exerting energy more like I would with "swimming" than lifting weights. So my last ride on friday was excellent now that I have that relationship in my head. Oh and also I swerve around pot holes and/or bunny hop over them. After splitting my chin open from crashing cause of a fat crack in the road I do nay trust any road impurities. |

Obviously you don't see the symbolism of the joke and took it far too literally. In fact it doesn't even have to be a joke. It is a fact. Fact: There were no fat people in Auschwitz or let me be even more correct, there were not fat people of the Jewish religion in Auschwitz. Hence: Anyone could be a size zero. Healthy or not. It could happen. And to say once again, that is my answer to the OP.
Carry on peasants.

Original Post by hotrebeccainmesa: Yes the vice president of a hospital and I definitely had our laughs about that joke, along with the optometrist who himself is Jewish. I guess people who are easily offended and are unhappy about their weight just don't have a sense of humor. Would you like it better if I say there are not fat people in Ethiopia? And also, the whole undertone of CC is "eat less and weigh less". Why else are you counting calories?
But it is okay, your still aging and apparently the part of the brain that controls impulse is much more evolved in my brain than in yours. Maybe there is still time for you.

I still think the saying is very funny and serves a point. Obviously some people do not know how to handle some topics. Or should I say some people just search for reasons to be confrontational. And yes I do think being healthy is as simple as eating less. Even Thomas Jefferson famously declared how not over eating is a simple way to stay healthy. Obviously me saying the death camp pun doesnt mean uhhh obese or death camp it's just declaring that ANYONE of ANY SHAPE or FORM would be thin if they DID NOT EAT SO MCUH. "but what gives you the right to be so judgmental...you get to be judge, jury, and executioner?"
lol Get some new material. She asked, and that is my response. Sorry it was not sugar coated enough for you. And it being healthy/losing weight IS that simple. Sorry I dont take pity on people who are too weak to put down the ben and jerries and opt for strawberries. |

Original Post by hotrebeccainmesa: I think you need to be a little more specficic as to what you may think I am joking about.
I think what these doctors that I shadow are saying is (and I agree) people use "I am just big boned" or " I am just built that way" as a crutch as to reasons why they cannot lose weight. Essentially, eat less, weight less.
So by saying "There weren't any fat people in Auschwitz" they are saying that it didn't matter who they were or how their bodies were built, they lost weight. |

Every woman would be a size 0-3 if they ate healthy. As in only fruits/veggies/no red meat.
one of my favorite quotes about dieting that a surgeon told me another doctor told them.
"There weren't any fat people at Auschwitz"
eat little, weight less. peiod. it doesn't matter what your frame or structure is. |

I used to do bikram yoga all the time, then one day I went to class after smoking marijuana with some friends (I don't usually smoke but I did that day). In my marijuana/heat induced psychosis I realized the stuff the instructor was saying to "motivate" people was a bunch of crock! Furthermore everyone around me in the room just seemed super creepy and the whole aura of the place changed for me. I haven't been back since and my body doesn't seem to mind that either. |

Thanks guys!
I did a successful and crash free commute to school yesterday, (12 miles round trip!). A total of an hour and twenty minutes of riding. . . I am still slow going up the "big hill" that is on the way home from school. Nothins going to stop me! A guy in the school cafeteria asked me what I did to my chin and after telling him it was from crashing my road bike he said "oh wow, well thanks for reminding me I am a guy. I think I should go cut off the tip of my ear now to match up to you". It was funny and totally random. |

Thank you so much for all the advice guys. I have a lot to consider and everyone made some really good points. I'll definately be purchasing a nice seat. And thanks for letting me know that steal frames are best for racks! I have mostly been checking out mens bikes since they are the only ones 58cm +. I don't really mind having the bar across the top. I also went to a bike shop and tested a few bikes as well. I just needed some more data for my bike research. I am definately checking out that link too.
Thanks guys! |

| The Lounge | Thoughts on drug testing welfare recipients? | Jul 11 2009 18:14 (UTC) |

Yes because a) It is a government program b) The government always drug tests it's employees Furthermore I can see great assistance for drug addicts occuring because of their needing to remain/be clean in order to recieve welfare occuring due to this new addition of being taken care of by the government. People may seek help and neighboorhood facilities may start erupting to accomadate all of the people trying to be clean. Plus we don't want to be supporting drug lords which we will be doing in the long run. |
