I started clicking on profiles, but I didn’t see names…

Unicat—Ideally I’d like to be 130.  Right now  I’m only thinking in terms of reaching 140 though… it sounds more attainable.
Cfeltontufty—I agree, slow loss is better.
Jem, Srogers, Brianneo—thanks :o)
Colleen—I could tell. :o)  There was a post somewhere directing people over here… I hadn’t realized what a tight knit group it is, and how you all respond to each other.  Very supportive!

I read some of the posts about different viewpoints on weighing and using scales.  I find that weighing myself once a day helps me in that if I’m at the upper end of a two or three pound fluctuation, I’m on myself that day to not sneak extra snacks, or I go on a walk that afternoon.

It sounds like a lot of you exercise… anyone not so much?  For those that do, where do you get your motivation?

today was the best day so far this week.  i had my watered down iced tea in the morning while reading and kept refilling with ice and water when it was half empty.  after a few refills i added a half cup of hot tea with a bunch more ice.  i only used two "cups of tea" and drank 64 oz of water.  go me! ps- i find certain cups/containers help it go down more easily.  i don't know why, but having a plastic cup with a straw works out a lot better than a glass or even a water bottle.  anyone else feel partial to a container?

i'd like to join in.   i tried the july water challenge in willow's group-- the first few days i did ok, and then tapered off to jusy a glass or two-- harry potter weekend i drank 64 oz+ each day bc i was at home the whole time.  i have trouble being out and drinking that much water-- the "flushing of the system" is difficult to deal with at work bc i can't get away from my class too easily. maybe the daily conversation will help keep me motivated... ill try again starting today.

i eat when i'm already full and it annoys me.  i read the rest of the posts on this page and it seems like a bunch of you do the same.  one thing thats different though is that i dont eat a million things in an hour anymore.  i used to. then i started eating healthfully, lost about 10 pounds, and tapered off.  for quite a few months i've hovered around the same weight.  for the last few weeks though, i'll eat, and a half hour later i'll eat again.  an hour after that, i have a craving for a food and eat a whole serving (or two or three...) of that.  an hour after that, its something else again.  the past few days i stop myself and say, "i'm not hungry. wait and eat it tomorrow." but five minutes later i eat it anyway. i end up eating three or four dinners. (and i do eat breakfast and lunch) ARGGGGGH!  i don't know what to do.

i'm in the process of moving -- i bought a new scale that reads more accurately (aka higher, my old one was too nice) so i need to unpack the old to tell the difference, but i believe i'm the same-- i have been for weeks. recently lost 1 lb but not sure if i had gained before that... ill be more clear in my next post.

mrswuktisch & fhgurl- if you want a motivation partner let me know.  i have a tendency to stay on track for a week and a half and lose interest.  i love food.  =( but the reality is that i do wish to be back to 130/135.  we could exchange email?

Haha i love it. My bagel created quite a stir. They are typically about 320 calories (plain). By no means is that wonderful, but it usually surprises people to find out two slices of toast + butter, or a big bowl of cereal + milk, or a simple peanut butter sandwich aren't far off. (If you add gobs of cream cheese, well then yes it's much worse.) One "serving" of cereal doesn't do it for me. I try, but I always go back for seconds.

fhgurl -- you sound so similar to me! i'm 5'7, currently 155. highest was 167 and my goal is 130. i don't see it as realistic though... i'm thinking 135 is possible.
