I am also a college freshman, i came to university to play on the volleyball team so i started training, conditioning, weight lifting, practicing and all that stuff, so I know I put on muslce weight, but i also know that the dreaded cafeteria has put on a few too, i was 155 the first weigh in right when i got here, i jumped to 170 but now im closer to 161, i dont know how much is 'weight' and how much is muslce from my new workouts... I dont know where to set my goal weight anymore, but im going to try 145? Does anyone have any other good cafeteria secrets? ( i go to school in MS,USA and every meal contains fried chicken, cornbread, grits, etc.etc.) I try my best to use the salad bar every single meal but i was wondering about any other good choices i might be missing??

I'm almost 6'1", 19 years old, college freshman and I play University volleyball. When i came here pre-season I was 155... I am now 161 but I went up to about 170.... I can't decipher how much of it is my 'freshman 15' and how much of it is muscle from the conditioning, practicing and weight training 2-3a-days, i know I've put on muslce, but I also know Ive put on some fat too, I'm not sure what a good goal weight should be now with my new, stronger physique, i always thought 145 would be awesome, i have a slim build, my mom was 5'11" and 135 til she was almost 45, so i think 145 is doable for me, but any comments from other tall athletes? how should i incorporate this new muslce into my new goal weight????

My meals are all eaten at the university cafeteria as if cafeteria food three times a day isnt bad enough the only thing to drink is from a soda fountain.... and the water tap or lemonade tap is usually broken, i drink rediculous amounts of diet coke and i love it! I dont see a problem with it, just brush your teeth lots from the carbonic acid and youll be fine!

I would like to join the 160 club at about 163 as of yesterday, i happen to be almost 6'1" so its not soo bad, but I'd love to be closer to 145.... any advice for someone who is 19, in univerity, plays university volleyball but can't lose weight because the dorms dont have kitchens and the cafeteria is free and out to make everyone chubby! Thanks! -Jennifer
