| I was thinking of starting a tall girls' club and see that you beat me to it! Excellent! I would love to connect with other women of height to compare stats and share progress, etc. I find this site very supportive but sometimes find it hard to relate when people speak of goal weights of 100 to 120 pounds. It somehow makes me still feel heavy, even though I realize that being tall necessarily means being heavier. Anyway! I am 5'10'' and currently 146 pounds. I currently wear a size 8 (treanop2 ... sizes in Canada must be made bigger than in the UK because it sounds like we have very similar stats) I started at 176 pounds about 5 months ago and am quite content at maintaining my weight at about 145. I am still counting calories and intend to keep doing so in order to maintain my current weight. Would love to share motivation, food ideas, recipes, and progress with other tall women ... |

| Maintaining | It's been posted before, but... | Sep 21 2006 18:37 (UTC) |

| bebe: i totally hear you. its so hard to adjust to eating more again. i am also now in maintenance stage but have been having so much angst about how much i should be eating. i also have tried to go up by a little at a time, introducing more food into my days slowly. that way, i can watch how the scale responds a little at a time. at the moment the scale starts going up, i think i am going to peg that as just over my maintenance food intake, scale back to what i was consuming immediately before the gain and go from there.
congratulations on achieving your goal! i know its hard but try to fight the fear of food. you have achieved a great thing and i can tell it means a lot to you. i am so scared of returning to my pre-diet weight but i think that how great i feel now and the memory of how bad i felt about myself before will keep me from doing that. good luck! |

| Weight Loss | HypoThyriod ?? | Sep 21 2006 18:13 (UTC) |

| I was diagnosed with hypothyroid 5 years ago and prescribed a 1mg dose of levothyroxine. People told me that I would lose weight after the meds regulated my thyroid function. I was SO excited. My experience was that I lost absolutely nothing. Since then, I have had my thyroid checked regularly - recently at yearly physicals but in the first couple of years, more frequently. The thyroid is functioning correctly and has been since shortly after I started taking the meds. Sorry to disappoint but I don't think the weight loss is an automatic result for everyone. | |||

| Hi everybody! Thanks to Al for that warm welcome. Al is right ... she does yammer on ALL the time about how cool this site is. I was intrigued. I am actually on the WW points program but thought that I could use the great tools on this website for tracking my points intake - rather than tracking calories. There is so much nutritional info, the tips and discussions on the forum are great and the tracking features will be very helpful. I'm excited! I began the WW program about 18 weeks ago. I achieved my loss goal in 16 weeks and now am looking to maintain. I look forward to using the resources on this site and to see y'all on the forums! |
