I agree with the other posters. You need to see someone and be able to vent/explain to them your feelings. More importantly that person should be there to help and support you in a nonjudgemental environment. Sometimes talking through things and hearing a professionals opinion makes one feel better. I know that's what helped me!

Keep on plugging along, but try to find a good support system ie) your mom....or even try sitting down in a calm manner to explain your thoughts and everyday feelings to your boyfriend....this might help him to understand where you are coming from.

Health & Support IS 200GRAMS of tofu each day too much? Aug 19 2008

hey there!

No that isn't that high. that is about 2 and a half servings according to the package i have here. I like nasoya tofu.

infact 79grams ( 1 serving of lite firm tofu has 40 calories) Not back. I usually use about 150 grams or so in a salad for extra proteing...plus its very filling.

So 200grams doesn't seem to be anywhere near a problem :)

Other good low cal sources of healthy protein......( that I love....are chicken and shirataki noodles.)

Hope this helps!!!

I hear ya!!! same here. I am in recovery gained 20 pounds *yay* *mainly muscle*. ( I decided to go from anorexia which is on one end of the specturm to training for fitness competitions) so stick thin to muscle bulk.

Through my journey I was forced to up my calories to build muscle. we are talking an increase of about 200- 300 calories a week up. during that i experienced night sweats in which i would wake up just drenched.....*it sucked* but after about a week I was *regulated or normal* this only happened after a majour calorie ups or increases for me.

hope this helps!!!

day #1 for me here!

I finally got sick of the "waking up sore, bloated, no energy sore throat from purging feeling". I wasted to much of my life with this ED. It is now time to re-gain my life and social life back. I cry when i think of the hours spent binging and purging, it is really worthless.....because all i gained was pain and suffering nothing positive. not to meantion a weight gain from 110 to 117 in a week. yikes!!!!

So people help me stay on track!! We can do it!!!!

wow i never thought i would be able to "have" that many calories to play with. I guess I was in "weight-loss" mode for too long.

I guess, I am fairly active with the cardio so you are right gi-jane......i should increase my calories...to sustain my exercise routine.

wow in disbielf but i like the thought of more calories, just need to find ways to ingest more....never really that hungry

Janelle  thanks you 2!!!!
Health & Support Water Retention Jan 28 2008

I don't know what exactly could be causing your water weight. ....Increase in sodium?? is what causes me to bloat.

However, to remove water and that "weighted" down feeling, I highly reccommend dandelion tea or better yet "nature's way" dandelion capsules...this herbal remedy is great for removing water ( acts like a gentle diuretic).

good luck

Jaya- Thank you so much for your post. That was really  inspirational, and something that I needed to know. It is truly good to see that you overcame this beast of over-exercising.

I am trying really hard to overcome my fear of "eat more workout less" and the idea that I will not balloon up...as I have so vividly pictured in my mind.

Thank you so much, ...i am increasing my calories slowly and cutting back on cardio slowly. I am down to about 70 mins a day cardio and weights 5 times a week.

It doesn't help that I have a ful gym, and precore elliptical at home ( easy access). But I am trying to eat more and get out of this cardio rut...my body is starting to break dow.

with all the cardio you do....do you feel weak or tired? I know my body is worn out, thus i am trying hard to cut back...but i am soo scared to gain too

enia- how did you overcome the "guilt" of not working out. I mean I haven't gone one day in the last 6 months without doing some form of cardio for an extended period. Any tips would be helpful!!! :)

alicandra- you sound exactly like me! I will bust myself on cardio burning 800- to 1000 calories just to allow myself to eat. Throughout the day I am mainly in the negatives. I basically eat what I burn and allow myself at the close of the day to be at most +700 calories or so. I am trying really hard to cut down the cardio at least. Maybe not at the point of eating more, but at least cutting down on the cardio. We shall see, ...but I am starting to feel run-down and weak from time to time. So I know I have to make changes.

How did you start to recover/ or cut back? Was there a turning point??

Thanks!!! I appreciate your info.

I started to cut back on cardio and I am slowly increasing my calories currently I am now up to about 800 calories after all the exercise. I guess for me it is more mental ( gaining weight) than anything else...in regards to increasing my calories

thank you both for your imput. yeah I think I should up my calories. Smwhipple: what I meant was after exercise I am a +700 ..........so the 800 or so I burn plus the 700 gives me roughly an intake at the most of 1500 calories.

I agree, I should increase, because at times i feel worn down and light-headed. I am just fearful of gaining weight. I have had weight issues in the past . For a period of time i was anorexic and barely ate. Now it is more like exercise anorexia. I eat to workout and workout toeat. but i will slowly try to increase. thanks

dm- that's what is currently happening to me. I was doing on average 60 minutes of elliptical glider and 30 min bike with 45 mins of weights. ( not all at once- i have a 1,000 sq ft gym in my house so I do this throughoutbbreaks in the day/eve). And when i got my BMI done and BF% and muscle % at a gym i belong to also....my muscle mass was decreasing! Hence, I needed to do something  ie) cut back and maybe eat more....I am having a hard time Psychologically eating more than 1,000 cal a day...but hopefully that will change.  Thanks for the info dm. BTW- what are you doing now maintaining????

thanks for the help everyone....so far i have cut down the cardio from around 80 mins a day to only 30 minutes and my weight trainging daily to only 3 or 4 days a week. calorie wise i am averaging 1000 + a day ( 1600 daily - the cardio) i guess that's right????? I average a burn of about 600- calories.

Anyhow, I am cutting back but freaking out about eating more calories and being so high in the positive range. I just don't want to gain back all that weight. I will keep everone posted on my progress....I just wish I could eat and STOP COUNTING CALORIES  ugh!!

I am trying to cut back and up the calories ...little by little

Thanks for the tips everyone. I am slowly increasing my calories and trying to add in more "safe" foods to my diet. I realize I can't keep losing, that I need to find that happy medium.....it is just extremely hard because, I still have "guilty" thoughts of gaining.

I just want to be able to eat normally without beating myself up mentally over every little calorie.

thank you everyone for the sites and help.  contrary- you mentioned you eat 1700 calories a day and can maintain......is that a flat 1700 ? say you work out and burn 500 calories ...do you boost your cals to 2200 for the day??  that's my last question.

thanks  Janelle

Motley- I stopped gradually, I was binge purging because of sress in my life. I could easily purge 3 times a day. Soon I found myself, getting tired ( it ws wearing on me, my health failing...ie) getting colds easily) so i decided i needed to make an effort to stop.

So I did, it wasn't easy, i didn't see a therapist or anything, i just started thinking what triggered me to binge purge? for me i would get stressed or go so long without food that i would go nuts and binge /purge. so little by little i ate more often, kept busy ( mind off of it) and cut down to one binge every few days. BUT!!!!! what did it for me was in those days i didn't binge, i noticed my mouth didn't hurt, i felt more awake and could lose weight without purging but rather eating properly with exercise.

recap..ha..ha  1. analyze your triggers  2. keep busy, find a hobby something that makes you happy 3. eat more often small meals so you don't feel deprived 4. get cardio ( working out helped me feel better- more awake/healthy)

Hope this helps Janelle !! check out my pics...ironically while i was bulimic i was my heaviest!!!

Health & Support Exercise with a cold? Dec 14 2007

I still workout ( cardio) but I cut down my time and resistance. Therefore, I get moving, the blood flowing but without going overbaord ie) sweating excessively. This way my body still has then energy and immuno support to fight off the cold.

Another thing si doing light weights, you can tighten your body and burn some calories without sacraficing your immune system

thanks for the info! your right I need way more calories because I am always active doing something or working out.

However, how do I break free and increase? little by little till i reach a healthy level?? Or all at once??? I think my main problem is adding without thinking i will gain weight.

Being that I am technically in starvation mode, will I start to gain when I add more calories??????

Thank you!!!!

definatly see a doctor. But other causes could be, too little fat in your diet, calorie restriction, vit deficient, exreme weightloss in a short period of time or over stressed do to extreme workouts.

The same thing happened to me, but it was because my body was stressed because of my rigorous workout schedule. Since then i lessened my workouts and started eating better ( more calories and  wide variety of foods)
