| I don't think I'll count that day (starting at 5 p.m. on Christmas Eve). I do know I'll stay away from lots of foods though - a little of everything is better than a lot of everything. (I can't say I've even had marzipan fruits.) | |||

| I have a great cookbook! Eating Well Serves Two. The recipies make enough for two people so if it is just you you can cut in two and save the next for lunch the next day. I've made so many meals out of it. Most meals are very quick and are extremely tasty. Sometimes I'll double a recipie so that there is enough for my husband and me for dinner and I can have leftovers for the next day. I highly recommend this book. | |||

| It seems healthy to me although I think you may want to add some whole grains or complex carbs. I suspect you should see some results and it shouldn't take long. Just make sure you are eating throughout the day and not consuming most of your calories in one sitting. Also you'll want to make sure you have breakfast that includes complex carbs. | |||

You should eat breakfast. When you get up in the morning your metabolism needs a reason to get started. If you don't eat breakfast it has no reason to rev up and do what it is supposed to do. That might also help with the weight loss you aren't experiencing. Exercise works as well. As for bread - eat a piece. Make sure it is really good bread as well as good for you. I, too, find it is satisfying to have a dense piece of bread and the flavor is great! |

Like most here I break it into smaller increments. I have 37 pounds to go to get to my driver license weight (a weight I think is often a goal weight for women). Initally I'll use 10 pound increments until I loose the first 20. I expect it to much more difficult after that and will be happy with 5 pound goals. The first two pounds don't count really because I've already lost those (down to 180) and expect that it was water weight. 170 - here I come! |

I'm excited about finding this post for women more than 40. I've been looking and hadn't discovered it until now. I am 48 (for another couple of months) and would appreciate the support of women and men in our spot in life. I've lost and gained weight more times than I can count. I've put on about 20 pounds in the last 6 - 8 months and refuse to buy any clothes in a bigger size. That means my wardrobe is limited to what I can squeeze into without looking squeezed into it. These articles of clothing will wear out quickly because they are so few. So - I want to loose that 20 and perhaps another 10 pounds. Of course it is likely that once I am successful I'll want to loose another 10 but who knows. On a personal note I have three grown boys and one granddaughter and live in Minnesota. I will be checking here frequently and maybe can find a couple of "friends" to be accountable to or for more support. |

For me it was a chicken/brocolli/cheese lean pocket (I know that's a lot of sodium but it's what I had in the house this morning) and two plums. It's the dinner thing that's difficult for me. I could eat chicken almost every day but my husband want's a little more variety. Hmmm, what will it be tonight? |
