the only things that works for me is restricting. 1200-1300 cals maximum. I don't lose if I work out, I mantain and get less jiggly.

Do you think it's safe?

Did you went on low cal diets? how much deficit?

I'm 5'3 126 lbs

i wanna go down to 110 -- eventually 100 but i'm not succesful with my diet at all. I've lost 2 lbs the first month, nothing in january >:(

The period I had thinner legs of all my life was at my lowest weight, when I was slow jogging 50 minutes a day, 4 or 5 days a week.

Squat will help you if you don't bulk up a lot . Unfortunatly I tend to get very very muscular with a few squat and lounges so I skipped that and start walking/jogging increasing the  ;jogging every day.

This kind slow and steady kind of cardio done for at least 30 minutes a day will make you burn fat and give you toned legs. Don't do sprints or run, jog instead.

Beautiful legs are made of 3 things:

° absence of fat ---> slow consistant cardio

° a little muscle ---> some squat or just the jogging depending the look you want to achieve

° flexibility ---> some stretching after a workout will do wonders both for soreness and lengthen your muscle

i'm surrounded by extremely thin collegues (i'm talking bmi under 17!!) and trust me, they never eat. I know for sure one gets 600 cals a day! that's insane.

probably your friends are young with a high metab..

I don't feel thin or normal weight either. I know I'm in the "normal weight range" but i'm surrounded by people far thinner then me.
Competition is really high here in Italy. I'm fatter then all my collegues, fatter than my relatives, and the most important thing is that I don't feel comfortable in my own body any more.

I've been 112 before and although I wasn't looking model thin at all, I felt more svelt and all my clothes were fitting so much better than they do now. Except my bra. hehe

I think my body looks perfect at 110, even if cellulite and fat on my butts and thighs was still there, but less evident. I know what my goal is and I know it's a safe weight, but I can't reach it any more.

I thank you all saying I don't need to lose any more weight, you're really kind and supportive, but I wanna feel self confident again.

I've lost 2 lbs in a month in may with an average expenditure of 1721cals and 1307cals eaten, 430 cals deficit, It might be extreme but that's the only thing that worked, i start thinking i should go back to those hardcore days

  • carrihound how do you calculate 1200 cals net? cals eaten minus cals burned from workout and expenditure? I'm not brilliant in maths. hehe Or is it eaten - deficit?
  • loriklorik I think i'll go for a 30 min walk with my dog the days I don't work out, very good for blood circulation and mood. And of course for my dog too. 
I usually work out 40mins on the treadmill or stationary bike at the gym and weight lift for 25 minutes on mon/wed/fri
I don't mind what the machines says.. it's usually 250 cals for 20 mins on the treadmill, CC says so much less like 120 and I think its more accurate

  • Clok i'm writing on a piece of paper everything i eat (I even get laughted by from collegues but I don't care) I guess I have to estimate my lunch a bit because I eat at work and I can't ask 80g pasta, wholeweat, cooked, boiled drained, with salt or 150g chicken, meat only, roasted because, let's face it, we live in real life. I always try to overestimate anyway, and i always log 5 minutes of workout less then I really do.
    I'll try to be more accurate from now on anyway, thanks for your contribution

when i work out I eat a bit more, I aim to get a 300 cals deficit so if i burn 1800 (expenditure + gym burned cals) i'll eat 1500

sarahgdyck! sorry i'm answerying late.

I'm 5'3''/123lbs
I eat 1200-1300 cals a day (slightly more when i work out)
I work out 3 times a week [40mins cardio and 25min weight training]
Daily deficit 300-400

dunno why but it's not working. It seems healthy and reasonable enough for me, but i'm just gaining weight or mantaining.. I start thinking i'll never go down to 105lbs in my entire life.

somebody has a clue?

I have so many questions i dunno where to start...
well... i'll start saying i'm impressed by your self control and wishing you happy mantaining :)

  • Was it hard for you to go down to 100lbs?

I think my body natural weight is 112 and getting nearer to my goal is so tough. Maybe you're just naturally slender then me. I've never been overweight, i've been 115 all my life except in dreaded 2003 when i've ballooned up to 132 .

  • how much do you eat to mantain your weight?

5'3, 119lbs, 1500 cals on average with a deficit of 400.

i'm trying to up my cals. I'm really confused. I should eat 1300 to reach my goal weight by my birthday but i really dunno how much should i eat if i'm exercising. What's the point in eating the workout cals back? i could slack off and have the same results... isnt' it?

that's the only way it makes sense to me. I've posted questions about it but I really can't get it.

that happends me too! i don't know why but the scale is friendly if i don't exercise, but when i do i gain some the next day. And i doubt it's muscle if i only bike (stationary) for 30 mins.

are we eating too little on workout days?

i feel like giving up biking if i don't find a solution right away... bikini body is arrived here in Italy, darn! and my legs looks like a huge amount of cottage cheese. yuck!
