What's your sodium intake? If it's more than 2000mg, you're going to retain more water. But, I found through several links online that if you keep drinking water, you will retain less. It has something to do with dehydration overworking your kidneys. http://www.ehow.com/how_4516069_stop-retainin g-water.html A rule of thumb I once heard (but have struggled to meet each day) is that you should drink half your weight in water. So if you're 120 lbs, you should drink 60 oz. And here's a link that expains it a bit more: http://www.suite101.com/blog/oilsdragon/half_ your_weight_in_water I try to tell myself that drinking more water will make my skin prettier and loosen up my tight muscles (which get dehydrated easily). |

| I'm 23 at 5'9", 182lbs [size 10/12] and have been steadily gaining weight since getting on birth control at 17 [weight went from 135 to 155 in 5 years, stayed around 155 for two years] and anti-depression meds this year [weight increased to current weight within a few months].
I'm a very curvy girl, so I while dream of getting down to 145, but will be thrilled [as will my boyfriend] at 155 -- getting to keep my shape [from what I read in US magazine, Tyra Banks is 5'9" and 155 and Mariah Carey is 5'9" and 160. On the other hand, Micha Barton and Cameron Diaz are also 5'9" and 125. They're both really twiggy though.] I've been on South Beach and saw great results -- lost 20 lbs. Trying to see that success again and keep it off. This time, keeping with the same diet plan [and sticking to it!] and trying, oh-so-trying to get motivated to hit the gym. |
