Yes...these are soooo yummy ! I agree - it's hard to put the bag down. I try to stash 7 little treats in my lunch bag on the way out the door - so at work I only have access to those...... |

| Weight Loss | need to lose over 100 lbs... | May 15 2009 22:39 (UTC) |

Hello Bethie, I want you to know that you are making a great choice for yourself. On March 8, 2006 I weighed over 300 pounds.....it took me ten years to put that on, so I knew when I started my life changing habits I would need to go slow and healthy. I counted calories and fat grams - and used this site for tracking everything I ate or every step I took. It took me 14 months, but I dropped over 140 pounds and went from a size 26-28 to a 12-14!!! I just moved to a new city with a new job and am back trying to get the 30 pounds that crept on over the holidays and visiting all the new great places to eat.. Good Luck and just go "step by step" "meal by meal" Once the first 30 pounds fall off...the rest will follow. You WILL look in the mirror again and recgonize who is looking back - I promise...just DO IT....for you !! |

| It can be done....I've been averaging a 2lb weight loss each week since I began my "make over" March 2006. I have lost almost 120 lbs.
I keep on a 1200 to 1500 calorie diet and walk 30 min three to four times a week... |

| Good Morning Ladies,
Reading all these posts makes me realize how much we have in common. Since March 8th I have lost over 85 lbs and have dropped several inches. Didn't keep track of inches the first 4 months, (now I wish I had). I have the flabby arms too. Just invested in some new DVD's for strengh training with 5lb weights and those strechy bands. I love to "Walk-away-the pounds" with Leslie Simone....she is awsome and you can walk at your own speed. Can't wait to do her 2-mile pace after my coffee in a few minutes. Dec 9th is my goal date when I started. My daughters graduation date. I want to see my ex's face when I show up wearing my size 16 slinky little black dress ! I bought a size 20 last month, but I have another size 16 on hold. I'm now at a size 18 so I really hope I can lose that next 10 (only 4 weeks from today) I've been really kicking it more at the gym, so I'm pretty sure I'll be fine. kuddos to us ! |

| See...we all do it once in awhile. I had an artichocke cheese dip with dinner and just found out it has anywhere from 250 to 1000 calories depending on the "serving" and receipe......but today was my 8 months anniversary eating healthy, so I'll just enjoy it and start again in the am....don't beat yourself up. | |||

| I would pack some granola bars and small boxes of raisen to keep up your metabolism. It helps me get through to lunch and dinner.
I bought the cookbook from the "biggest loser" and it said to calculate the calories is to take your current weight and mutliply it by 7. So if you weigh 200lbs, your calories shoud be 1400...you adjust as you lose. My doctor wantes me between 1200 and 1500 and that seems to be working for me. I've lost 88lbs in 8 months. Good luck. |

| I was a ranch only gal for so long, so I went to the light version. My nutritionist strongly advised to stay away from any fat free stuff. They add more calories and ususally don't taste all that great. I've branched out now and love the Kraft Rasberry Vinegrete....
Mary - that ginger seasame is going on my shopping list - sounds good. |

| Gosh, I never really paid attention to how it measures. I did follow the instructions to program the step range to my acutal step. I try to keep active during the day and I ususally get close to or over the 10,000 steps (on days I do arobics at the gym on top of my walking)
Check your instructions again, maybe you can re-set it. |

| Good for you ! I tell myself what do I want more - the cookie, slice of pie, whatever OR the size 12 I'm seeing myself in next April !
In 8 months I have lost 88 lbs and I am 57lbs from goal - so passing up those goodies is getting easier.... YOU CAN DO IT !! |

| Weight Loss | How to resist? | Nov 02 2006 05:07 (UTC) |

| If your just begining, it is hard to pass up the goodies. Try to keep low cal snacks for you. Like granola bars, trail mix, those 100-cal snack packs that are out. Also talk to your dad about possilby cutting some calories and fat out by adjusting the receipe. You can substitue applesauce for the shorting, and use the splenda for baking. If you can't resist, just be sure to take smaller portions.
It was hard for me to pass up the donuts and sweet bread that someone always brought to work, but once I set my goal, I just had to remind myself that I wanted the healthy me more than I wanted that Krespy Kream. After 8 months, I have lost over 85 lbs and my goal is Dec 9th (my daughter graduates from college). I never put a number in my head....just to lose as much as I could slowly, 1.5 to 2 lbs a week. Now I exercise 3-4 x a week. Good luck and remember "meal by meal...step by step" |

| Weight Loss | Looking for women around my age/weight... | Oct 28 2006 06:33 (UTC) |

| Hello to all you young ladies. It is really great that at your age you are looking to get healthy. As an older woman, I have done the whole size 12/13 in high school to 16/18 in early marriage, (mid 20's), after the birth of my first I was about 160 and yo-yo'd back and forth. Later in life I added more and more weight over a long period of time and before I knew it, after many life stresses, I found myself this last March at 304. I CRIED and told myself then and there to wake up. So I did, and today I can give a high-five to the 80 lbs I've lost. Slow, 10lbs a week. My goal is 155 by April when I turn 54 ! Once I got started, I set 8 months to my daughters college graduation this coming December as a goal to lose "as much as I could" no number in mind, just the determination to get healthy and smart and live a real life.
If anyone wants to chat more, send me an e-mail, subject line diet-buddy or else I'll prbably delete it. Good luck to you all. This is a great site, this is my first month of logging food, activity and reading all the hints from different people. It's very encouraging (sorry - bad speller) Deb |

| Hello Mel. Getting on this website is shows how serious you are and the support of this site is soooo wonderful. I've only been on a month, so I'm rather new. Still learnging all the perks.
Anyway, I encourage you to find a future date, like 6 or 8 months from now. Is there an important date coming up, birthday, wedding, family reunion? Several things got me started. I was fed up with myself for one, I'm a 53 yoa and single working gal. I wanted a life. Went to the dr on March 8th and was sooo ashamed that I weighed 304...I knew I was getting up there, but somehow that number hit me over the head. I begged the doctor to get me started. I went to a nutriutist and went on a low-cal (1200 to 1500 cal) and 45g fat day. I picked my daughters college graduation as my goal this December. Slowly, it was easy to pass up the donuts at work, to skip the egg mcmuffins. I saw results, each week, not alot, 1or 2 lbs a week. After 4 months, I felt good enough and joined a gym. I go 3-4 x week. This week I proudly treated myself to an egg mcmuffin (300 cal) for my 80 LB reward. I never really thought I could do it, but now I'm hooked. I can see myself in my size 12 jeans this next April I'll be 54 and I will be HOT...heeheee. Mostly I just feel sooo much better. Good luck ! Meal by meal, you can do it ! |

| Hi guy....welcome to this wonderful site. I found it by accident lookijng for a calorie count after eating a handful of hersheys kisses at work. I was mad at myself, because I have successfully been on a "healthy eating plan" an 6 months and I have lost 81 lbs as of today ! ( I am not on a diet - this is a life time change of the way to live....eat right and get my butt of the couch)
The first 3 months, I just ate low-cal (12-1500 day) and low-fat (45 grams a day). I'm a 50+ single gal and those are my doctors and nutricianists numbers for me. (sorry, I'm a bad speller) In July I joined a gym and have been going faithfully 3-4 times a week. The last month, I added cardio class's - arobics and step. I really like the threadmil too, I do 30 minutes 3 x a week and walk on the weekends at home. Good luck and you'll love this site. I love the weight, food & activity logs! |

| Gosh, those are 2 of my favorite places to eat since I've been on my "healthy eating" plan. You just have to know the menu and understand what is healthy. They even help, each has their low-fat and low-calorie item specifiically tagged.
Olive Garden has a little olive branch ICON next to the low-fat, lowcal items. Red Lobster has the back of the menu with nothing but low-cal, low-fat items listed with portion size, fat grams, protein ...ect .. They are great. One chedder biscut is 160---don't eat any...send them away - The talapia fish has 160... I love the potatoe & sauage soup, but I know I can't have it so I have the Minastroni for 100 cal !!! And all the salad you want..hold the dressing and get their low-fat - they will if you ask. Look for their little GardenFare Menu at the front desk. |

| I began my "healthy eating" plan March the 8th with my doctors help. I was on Xencial to get started. I would have loved to take it as planned, but my insurance would not pay for it....(but they would pay for the gastirc bypass !! ?? ) So, I could only afford to buy 1/2 perscription and limit my dose to meals that had fat. The best thing for me was the "side effect" They ARE NOT KIDDING you have to be on your best behavior...no cheeseburger and fries, our else 2 hours later (I never did this, just heard about it) and you could have immediate uncontrollable diahrea (sorry--bad speller) I did experience some un-expected leakage, and it was enough to keep me eating LOW-FAT.... I've lost 80 lbs as of today and I have 60 to go. I hope by April for my 54th birthday. I keep a small amount of Xenical with me, in case I eat at a resturant that I 'm not really sure of the meal prep. I don't use it often - once or twice a month now. |

| If they have a soup, get a big bowel. Our resturants here in El Paso Texas have two soups - One is called Caldo De Res - basically its beef and big chunks of cabbage, carrotts and broth. The other soup, my favoirte is Torilla soup - ususally comes with strips of torilla chips in the hot soup....very good - low cal and low-fat, becareful of the extra cheese and avocado - but some is good for you | |||
