| Foods | Looking for whole- grain help from some nutrition- savvy advisors... | Feb 05 2009 22:28 (UTC) |

Well, as a typical "starving college student" I don't have the money to buy 6 different types of expensive grains. Rice is cheap, but I don't think blugar wheat and quinoa are. And I'm not planning on eating exclusively that- I just was going to buy something new and I was wondering which was best for me. |

| Thanks for all the replies- and for the link^! I actually used to work at Starbucks, so I know all sorts of ways to make coffee drinks. I just don't know why I always think of them as some sort of indulgence :) I'm happy now- I'll be getting/ making one tomorrow morning! Thanks again! | |||

| Oh, no, I love dairy and am not lactose intolerant. I just have always gotten the impression that lattes should be an occasional treat and I'm not sure why... | |||

| ehhh.. I've tried. I used to eat TUMS like candy, but they started making me queasy, so I tried a chocolate-y chew, but that sometimes does it too. | |||

| I realize I'm not an expert, so if I'm wrong, I apologize, but coming from the experience I've had thus far as a nutrition major, I want to stress that ketosis is harmful to your body. I would suggest talking to a nutritionist or doctor, rather than rely on word of mouth or the internet. | |||

| Yes, it's possible! What really worked for me was the motivation to stop. i knew the consequences of purging on my body, and knew the cycle wasn't right. Sounds corny, but for every day I didn't purge, I "gave myself" a little star in the corner of that day on my calendar. It made me more accountable for my actions to see them in black and white. After a while, I'd use a marker to blacken the box of a day I DID purge, and those black marks ashamed me and motivated me to stop. I'd suggest reading up on the effects purging has on your health. When I realized that I was doing to my body, I realized no food was worth risking the health of my body with long- term, permanent damages. As above, I'll listen whenever you want to talk. Message me if oyu want my email. | |||

| Starbucks employees have heard EVERYTHING when it comes to customers
being particular about their drinks. They won't question your drink
ordering at all. =) I hear you prettypinktress... some of the best tasting drinks I serve are to the picky customers who made up their own drinks! |

| Foods | Skim Milk, Soy Milk, Chocolate Milk | Jun 25 2007 19:51 (UTC) |

| I don't know if this will sound gross to anyone, but i add a packet of splenda to my skim milk. (Sometimes i even add water to stretch it and it still tastes fine). I started doing this after I realized how much I liked the milk left in my cereal bowl from cheerios and splenda. you can also add drop of vanilla extract. It almosts tastes like a milkshake. |

| Weight Loss | If people tell me I'm tiny all the time, why do I feel fat? | May 08 2007 22:15 (UTC) |
31 |
| I know how you feel. I'm 5.5 or so i think and i weigh about 115. I know in the head that i'm at a good weight, but i look in the mirror and see everything as fat. It's unfair for people to tell thin people they are wrong to want to lose weight. Almost EVERYONE, fat or thin, wants to lose weight. Almost NO ONE is content with their body, including the quote- unquote "thin" people | |||

| bree, i, too, know how you feel. I started skipping meals and fasting and dropped ten pounds in a week and a half... i kept it up for a while until i realized how harmful it was. I'm 5.4 and got down to about 105... granted not nearly as severe as you, but I still feel your pain about bingeing... i started skipping lunch and throwing up dinner everyday. Now i'm trying my hardest to eat healthily and give my body the nutrition it needs, but everytime i eat, i feel like i ate too much and then throw it up, so i avoid eating alltogether, because i don't want to binge and then have to throw it up afterwards. i guess my mindset is that it's better to not eat at all than eat and then feel as tho i have to purge it afterwards.. You've come to the right place. Everyone here is very supportive. Please keep at it- everyone here is rooting for you, including me. Let me know if you want to talk anytime and I'll give you my email for support :-) |

| Way to go- very nicely said cjeka! These girls really are battling a serious mental disorder. They can't help it and maybe they come here to get love and support because they can't get it at home. They know what they're doing to their bodies and maybe no one in their families care enough to tell them to eat more. So they come here fishing around for someone to tell them to eat more because theres no one else in their lives telling them that. | |||

| Weight Loss | I don't understand... | Apr 17 2007 02:33 (UTC) |

| Thanks guys... i think i understand... so starvation mode only makes people fat when they begin to eat food again? As long as the anorexic keeps eating that insanely small amount of food, she will continue to be skinny. I thought it meant the person would eventually begin to gain fat if they maintained at a low calorie level. | |||

Thanks so much! We dont have any of those around where i live anymore, but i'll keep my eye out for one! ... I checked their website- their misses bikinis didn't seem to have much coverage on the top for a top- heavy gal, and all their plus size suits are tankinis or one piece. What do you suggest? Anyone else? |

| Weight Loss | coffee, a good choice | Feb 14 2007 21:13 (UTC) |

| I LOVE my coffee in the morning, and I got in the habit of drinking it, and had about a week of withdrawal (headaches and crabbiness!), so now I'm afraid to start drinking it again. I started mostly because it, in fact, really was a great way to control my appetite. I would make it before eating my bowl of cereal in the morning, then I could drink that when I still wanted to eat more rather than getting something else to eat. I would definitely reccomend coffee as an appetite suppressant, but try maybe 1/2 caff or drink decaf some of the time so you don't get addicted to the caffiene |
