Motivation Why hasn't anyone noticed? Mar 18 2008

It took 30 pounds before anyone comments at work.

It's not because no one told you that they haven't notice. They might be shy to comment or don't know how you'll react if they mention you have lost weight.

If you lost a size or more, trust me, they noticed! If they haven't, they are blind :P

Thanks for your reply Angelyna. But how many pieces are there in your roll? Where I buy my Sushi, 1 Maki roll gives 5 Sushis.

Hi!

I started to count calories 1 year ago. I lost 40 pounds using it. But in total I lost 85 pounds in a 3 years period.

I am maintaining for 3 months now. My weight fluctuates in a 10 pounds range and my pants still fits the same, maybe even a bit loose now.

Thank playergirl. Real nice comment you made and I agree with most of it. It's probably because I'm only 5' that people think I weight less then 100 and I some people think I look like someone who's 16-17 year old when I'm 26 lol! That doesn't help either..

I can't buy alcool or lotto without my cards! I'm used to it and will be sad the day it will stop!

I'm 26 btw but my hourglass shape helps a lot I must admit :)

Thank you so much for all your great compliments on my weight loss. I wasn't looking for that when I originally posted but it's always nice to have someone say you look great!!!

I also get weird comment like: Stop losing or you'll become anorexic.. I got that 4 times. People doesn't understand a weight loss and a mental illness..

Thanks for all your replies. I was worried a bit that maybe I was looking not healthy.

I'm 5' 0.5" by the way and I'm 112 pounds this morning. I live in Canada and the lady that said that to me was at a healthy weight.

Oh and for the record, I couldn't gave blood yesterday. My iron was 0.4 points too low. I have my menstruation this week so that was probably why. It was my first time to give blood and was so sad that it couldn't happen. It's one of my resolution for this new year, give blood as many times as possible.

Thanks again for all the replies!

Hi!

I don't have any tips since I don't think this weight loss journey is based on tricks but on changing your lifestyle completely.

But as an inspiration, you can maybe (if you want) take a look in my gallery for before and after pictures of me.

That's what inspired me in the beginning.

Hope it will help you a little bit...

Thank you jwashing!

I'm looking mostly to maintain my weight but wouldn't mind losing a little more fat. But I like how I look.

I'm not maintaining for a long time, it's been only a week. I saw my flucuation going high but now it went down. I'll just see what the trend is week by week and adjust my intake from that.

As for cardio I'll try to stick with at least 3 times a week but will not beat myself up if I don't do that. The holiday season takes time to prepare and I have lots of stuff to do! But that's another topic and it doesn't fit in the fitness forum!! :P

Thanks for your advices :)

Good morning!

Today is my weigh in. I am 114.6!! I think I got nervous for nothing!!

I'll continue to weigh everyday to see my fluctuations and learn to deal with them. What I'll count is the overall, the tendency of every Wednesdays.

Thank you all for your great advices. I will never said it enough!

One thing that I would like to see here is more people posting.

Losing is great but it's important to learn how to maintain it and we need as much experience people as possible to share their experiences.

Thanks for the info! The first 20 minutes are mentally hard but after I actually have fun doing it and challenge myself. I go faster, or crank up the resistance a bit. After my workout I feel so much better then when I started. I think I'm doing ok.

Jenmcc, again, you are very good at explaning things!

I will weight on wednesday and see where I am and will not freak out if I'm more then 115. If my pants fits right, everything is normal.

I enjoy eating more even if at times it's difficult since I'm so used to portion control and eat less. I have so much more energy, I feel great, I am way more active then I was. I just hope everything will be all right and will not gain my weight back.

I think I just needed some comfort from someone experienced.

I will definatly keep posting in here and ask you questions if I need some guidance!

Thank you so much!

Jenmcc, you are incredible! Thanks for all this, it help me a lot.

I will answer your last questions.

  • do you find you have much more energy now that you've upped your calories? Yes I have way more energy, that's why I started doing cardio again.
  • Are you finding your exercise sessions to be a lot easier? Well I started cardio when I started to eat mor but compare to before sessions are the same. I can do 60 minutes at 75% 95% maximum Heart Rate.
  • Are you able to lift heavier weights lately? Again, I started weight lifting only 3 days ago but compare to before I lost a little bit of strenght. But the session was intense and I had energy until the end.
  • Seeing major progress on the cardio? Again, I just started to do cardio again but compare to before It's the same, I can hold an intense cardio session.
  • Have you measured your inches lately - and have they shrunk? From October 15th to December 2nd I lost inches from everywhere, mostly my hips and waist. I didn't lost from my arms or calves.

That's about it. I will see Wednesday where I am with my weight and will adjust things. I'll also check how my pants feels, that's the best indicator.

Thank you again!

Thanks for the reply.

Another question. Once you start to maintain, everyone seems to gain some pounds. But did one of you guys gained enough to feel tight in your pants, like it felt it was real fat pounds. Or it's just fluctuation that goas away with time. On an average, how much time does the weight stop to go up and start to lower or maintain? I started to maintain at 112.4, will I ever see that number again?!

I wish there were more people on this forum to answer me and add their experience..
Foods Morning cereal with Yogourt in it? Dec 10 2007

Hi again!

I tried something else. I put hot water in oatmeal, just enough so the oatmeal cook (instant oatmeal). When the oatmeal is cook enough I add yogourt and All-Bran Original. It was so good!!! I tried the same but switch the ALll-Bran with Appleasauce (1/2 cup). Was rich and tasted awesome :P

I'm now doing lots of mixes of cereal with the yogourt and everything taste great and it's filling enough but at the same time, still low calorie breakfast.

Fitness Looking for advices Dec 10 2007

Thanks for your input!

I tried HIIT and it kicked my butt but I don't really like it. WHen I do my cardio, I'm not always going at the same apce, I go faster and slower depending on resistance. My HR is between 75% and 95%. It's interval training but not like 30s/1 minute. I do more intense when I feel I am able and stop when I cannot anymore.

As for weight training, I usually do 8 to 12 reps and rarely pass 12 or I put more weight and I always do my 2nd and 3rd rep until failure or very near. I rest for 15 seconds between each set. When I'm done, I move to the other exercise and begin straight away. It's fast and hard. and usually when I'M at my maximum effort, my HR show 75% or 80% of maximum HR.

I think it's a good workout.

So my plan after thinking about all this:

Monday Cardio 30-45 minutes
Tuesday Weight lifting (usually last 45 minutes). If I want cardio it will be 15 minutes
Wednesday Cardio 30-45 minutes
Thursday Weight lifting (usually last 45 minutes). . If I want cardio it will be 15 minutes
Friday Cardio 30-45 minutes
Saturday Weight lifting (usually last 45 minutes).  and cardio for 30-45 minutes
Sunday Off

Is this a good plan for fat loss and muscle definition? I eat very good also, it's healthy and I have enough calories.

Maintaining Maintaining and Exercise Dec 06 2007
21:14 (UTC)

Hi!

I wanted to ask a question concerning maintenance and exercising.

I'm trying to maintain for a few days now and I'm still "afraid" to eat more. I'm eating more then I used to but still not what CC suggest. Actually I'm up 2 pounds from yesterday. Probably water weight since I ate a lot of fiber (40grams).

Anywho, How did you guys started to eat maintenance? did you simply add all thsoe calories the first day or you gradually made it until your weight start being stable?

My maintenance is 1500. I'm used to eat 1200, sometimes less but that's another story. Does this mean I can eat 1500 calories without any problem everyday and I will not gain or it be less or more? You guy trust CC numbers?
And if I exercice on top of that and burn 400 at the gym that mean I ened 1900 calories to maintain?! Wow that's a LOT of food for my petite (5') person :P

Anyone can relate?

It's almost noon and I'm not hungry! I ate it at 7:30am. So filling I'm telling you, I'll eat this everymorning, wow!! I calculate everything and it's a 540 calories so it's pretty high but since I don't snack between breakfast and lunch ebcause I'm not hungry, everything will be ok. It gives me 330 calories for lunch and another 330 for dinner. It's more than enough.

I have so much energy at the moment, I can't contain myself!! I get up everytime I can at work, I go to the bathroom and do my mini-exercises!! I haven't felt like this in a long time!

Thanks for telling me to try it!! I appreciate it :)

As for the cereal itself, what you guys think? Filling enough for a serving or I could go with a better cereal with lower calories and more filling? Any suggestions?

And thanks for the before and after picture :)
