Actually, I have always had an hourglass figure, and it's a PITA to get clothes to fit!!!! |

| I often eat a Healthy Choice or Lean Cuisine. I think as long as you don't have other higher sodium products during the day, it's completely fine. Especially if you're drinking your water! | |||

Flychiq, I was debating whether or not to hit the gym again this lunchtime as I've already been 3 times this week - I wanted to let you know this comment of yours got my butt in there!!! :):) |

| I agree with the last poster. It really sounds as though you need to get medical help and possible pyschological help for the panic attacks and eating disorder.
I personally don't care if people smoke pot as long as they do it in their home and don't go out driving! |

| Kae, what was your number? A couple of weeks ago, my reading came out at 105, considered pre-diabetes also. I'd never had a high reading before. I did some reading up on it and discovered that maybe my cutting out higher carb vegetables from my diet may have affected my insulin levels. I went back to eating peas, carrots, and even the highly recommended beans, and within 2 weeks, my number was back down to 89.

| I eat within 30 minutes of getting up. It was tough for me, because I'm not really hungry yet, but it's a great way to get your metabolism started after it's slowed down through the night.
I eat 1 oz almonds and 1/2 cup FF Cottage cheese. Might sound yucky to some, but it's high protein, and not a LOT of food (which helps given that I'm not hungry), and I've gotten used to eating it and actually quite enjoy the combination now :) |

| Sorry you're so frustrated! It is hard. My husband lost 15lb in the same time I lost 3lb. I was exercising, he wasn't! Darn it! LOL!
Anyway, sounds to me like you need to change your doctor. Seriously!! Hang in there. |

| millyo, I don't know the official answer to that question, but last weekend, I mindlessly popped a chocolate pretzel into my mouth, and before I knew it, I'd had about 10 of the darn things.
I have been fine since, so hopefully it was just temporary :) |

| I think you're expecting too much after only one month of working out. Give it more time. Once you start building more muscle, you will see a difference - I promise!!!!
Have you used the calorie counter on this site? It really helps me out a lot! |

| Weight Loss | Have YOU healed your damaged metabolism? | Feb 20 2008 14:39 (UTC) |

| Jakshops, I have done this. I just posted in your other thread. I've been working on my sluggish metabolism since Jan 2nd, and I think I finally have increased it through working out, and eating 5-6 small meals a day. I've also dropped my cholesterol 44 pts (yeah!).
I cheated a bit this weekend and normally, I would have gained big time, but I still lost. That's how I can tell my metabolism is better! |

| Weight Loss | Slow metabolism...how many calories? | Feb 20 2008 14:36 (UTC) |

| I'm sorry Jakshops, I was miscalculating. I was using the "light activity" ratio of 1.375 on you to get my number.
In light of your numbers, I would suggest sticking to 1300 cals and continue with your workouts. How long have you been working out now? I am 41 and feel your pain. As we get older, it just takes us so much longer to lose each pound. I've only lost 6lb since Jan 2nd, and I have been working very hard at maintaining my diet and working out. Stick with it. Don't give up. You have to think long term. |

| Weight Loss | Slow metabolism...how many calories? | Feb 19 2008 22:08 (UTC) |

| I'm not sure where you are coming up with the 1432 or 1554 numbers??? Take your BMR of 1307 and multiply it by a light activity ratio of 1.2 and you get 1787, which I rounded up to 1800 calories in my earlier post. So you would need to eat 500 less than that to lose 1lb a week. In order to lose more than that, you're going to need to add exercise to the mix. Like I said before, don't go below your BMR.
Weightlifting is the most effective way to to speed up your metabolism - build more muscle!! |

| You do get used to it. Not sure if it's that your bladder gets stronger, or if it's a "mental" thing LOL!
I drink over 100fl oz a day, but I cut myself soon after dinner so I'm not having to get up in the night. Even then, I still have to get up around 4:30 or so, an hour before my alarm goes off! |
