| just checking in - I'm still counting calories, but I'm adding 300 to my intake :) :) :) [can ya guess why?]
so I plan to continue to exercise every day, but moderately...cardio and strength / core training. Luckily there's a gym at work that i can go to at lunch. I've talked w/ the instructors and they're watching me but I know my limits! |

| A little note to Santa from Mom:
Dear Santa, >I've been a good mom all year. I've fed, cleaned and cuddled my children on demand, visited the doctor's office more than my doctor and sold sixty-two cases of candy bars to raise money to plant a shade tree on the school playground. I was hoping you could spread my list out over several Christmases, since I had to write this letter with my son's red crayon, on the back of a receipt in the laundry room between cycles, and who knows when I'll find anymore free time in the next 18 years. >Here are my Christmas wishes: >I'd like a pair of legs that don't ache (in any color, except purple, which I already have) and arms that don't hurt or flap in the breeze, but are strong enough to pull my screaming child out of the candy aisle in the grocery store. >I'd also like a waist, since I lost mine somewhere in the seventh month of my last pregnancy. >If you're hauling big ticket items this year I'd like fingerprint resistant windows and a radio that only plays adult music,a television that doesn't broadcast any programs containing talking animals, and a refrigerator with a secret compartment behind the crisper where I can hide to talk on the phone. >On the practical side, I could use a talking doll that says, "Yes,Mommy" to boost my parental confidence, along with two kids who don't fight and three pairs of jeans that will zip all the way up without the use of power tools. >I could also use a recording of Tibetan monks chanting "Don't eat in the living room" and "Take your hands off your sister," because my voice seems to be just out of my children's hearing range and can only be heard by the dog. >If it's too late to find any of these products, I'd settle for enough time to brush my teeth and comb my hair in the same morning, or the luxury of eating food warmer than room temperature without it being served in a Styrofoam container. >If you don't mind, I could also use a few Christmas miracles to brighten the holiday season. Would it be too much trouble to declare ketchup a vegetable? >It will clear my conscience immensely. It would be helpful if you could coerce my children to help around the house without demanding payment as if they were the bosses of an organized crime family. >Well, Santa, the buzzer on the dryer is calling and my son saw my feet under the laundry room door. I think he wants his crayon back. Have a safe trip and remember to leave your wet boots by the door and come in and dry off so you don't catch cold. >Help yourself to cookies on the table but don't eat too many or leave crumbs on the carpet. >Yours Always, >MOM > >P.S. One more thing...you can cancel all my requests if you can keep my children young enough to believe in Santa. |

| Some of my recent gain is stress related, too - belly fat is stress related...no fun!
When I can muster it - excercise actually relaxes me. Instead of sitting around watching TV, I do the elliptical or just stretch when I watch my favorite shows. Maybe try to get more sleep, too [which is hard for me w/ an 18 month old]. Good luck, it's not easy - but like Canadianchick said - take small steps! |

| This morning Eric (the winner) was on the Today Show - and said it's a total of "8 or 9 mos" about 4 at the ranch, 4 at home...so much more than 12 weeks!
They all did such a great job, especially the at home'ers! To do that all on your own, while keeping up your job, home life, etc...Nice Work1 |

It's good to dish with y'all! KJ - That's a great idea about the bear with the voice. Luckily - he's been much better lately. If it's dreams, he can't tell me - if it's just a cold/ear ache, etc. hopefully he's over it. happy holiday season!!! |

| Great suggestions everyone - thanks :)
I know it has to be a stage b/c he can sleep thru the night. We do the routine, have done it since he was 2mos old [when he used to sleep 12 hours straight!]...and going to bed is not really the problem. There are a few nights he fusses or cries at bedtime - but it's never the full on scream that we've been experiencing in the middle of the night. I've thought about the nightmares - it's so hard that he can't tell me what's wrong! And luckily he is still in a crib, so we can contain him for now ;) We'll keep at it, love and patience are key - but it's just so hard. To the newer moms - it's true, a routine is KEY, both at bedtime and naptime...and a little crying will not kill them [it's a thousand times harder on us to be sure!]...good luck everyone. |

| Hey Moms! Just checking in - it's been AGES! I'm proud that I did not gain over the holiday - so that's a start :)
I think that some super changes are necessary for me to seriously lose. I'm sorta stressed out [thanks to the job], excercise off & on [thanks to my lack of energy] and really do not get regular sleep [thanks to my son!]. All of those things lead to belly fat - which is my problem. I'm also hoping for another baby, so we're trying at the same time I'm trying to get healthy. On the lack of sleep front - my son is 18mos old and is in SUCH a stage right now. he's SO clingy, to the point where I can't even go to the bathroom by myself anymore. So if he wakes at 2am [like every other night], he NEEDS me. Dad tries to go in, if it's me, I try to just tell him it's OK, go nigh - nigh...then leave, and he screams bloody murder. If I do get close enough - he monkey grips my neck so hard I just can't leave. Don't get me wrong, I absolutly love snuggling with him - but this can't be a long term solution - to have him sleep in our bed. Any of you been thru this? I know some of your babes are still tiny - but I need some help! |

| I ate too much candy.
I had absolutely none of it yesterday - or leading up to yesterday - but somehow my willpower is SHOT today...seeing everyone's "left over" spilling around the halls! OY! A'ight - enough said. I need to get on to that ab challenge [I do mine on an ex. ball - the nights that I do our elliptical]. |

| Hey moms!
I didn't realize that about water - I started drinking 4 liters a day and was confused when my grade would go down. Good tip! Here's to a fun weekend for everyone! We're expecting a Nor'Easter (and it's my birthday) so we're hunkerin down w/ some good wine in front of the fireplace. My husband's even cooking [yeah, I said COOKING] for me! Yum. |

| Welcome new mommas!
I want more children, but plan to get a b00b lift after all babies have nursed. I'm pretty large as is and gravity is taking it's toll. I've also thought about a tummy procedure after we're done w/ babies - I'll be in for a c-sect again, so I'd consider having the work done right then - they're already in there, right? We'll see - the cost is a huge factor. And I know that opinions vary - but if it helps my self image, I see nothing wrong w/ it. |

| Ree - great pictures! Your kids are beautiful! [how do you get one to pop up w/ your name?]
I had a c-sect, too - I started taking step / flex classes around 5 weeks post part....I healed pretty well. Of course, our home has stairs & I had to go up & down to use the bathroom...so "going slow" while using the stairs multiple times may have helped that along. |

Oy -please don't misinterpret - I know that dieting is OUT and only doc approved exercise when pregnant...I should have been more clear. I already have a son, [16 mos] and he's the most amazing kid! I totally agree - I'd rather be "chubby with a healthy baby." And I never knew that about ketosis - interesting! I guess my point was more to the fact that I'm trying to lose mega lbs - but the motivation is tough b/c I'll most likely just put it back on [for a GREAT reason]. I do hope that any healthy habits I start now will only help after pregnancy. Getting fit can never be a bad thing! Thanks again! |

| I'm pretty late to the party - but mind a newbie?? I'm 31 [32 in a few weeks], am 5'2" and weigh 161lbs (ouch, that hurts to type!) I have a 16 month old son - gained 40lbs with him...and lost it all right away. But I was about 20lbs overweight before getting pregnant and since going back to work, etc. I'm up another 15 or so. We're also trying to have another baby - so my goal is to be the healthiest I can be - for my son and future children.
I'd love to add everyone as "friends" [what does that mean?] - y'all OK with that? Thanks!! |
