Good to have this thread.

Is there any way to lock/ban women from this thread. I see 90% of the posts from women on forums.

Thank you.

It is good to see comments from one of the best runners in this community.

Sure, I will try to compare my self in future than comparing others. At the same time I try not to put too much concentration on my speed.

>>5 mph is slow? Compared to.. what?

:) I am new to this running world.

I always see people running between 6-8 mph in my fitness center and thought that I am very slow runner, ofcourse I never tried to increase my speed just the sake of other members. I guess that each humun is different based on lot of factors.

I do run at 5.5 mph on normal days for around 40 minutes. So I reduced my speed to 5 mph to complete this 10k.

It is good to hear that this speed is not bad at all. I love this community a lot as all of the members support each other very much.

Thank you.

I compled 10k run first time in my life. I used 12 min per mile pace (5 mph), I know it is very slow, but it is my first run after all.

I hope that I can run faster for our proposed run in march.

thanks

I only started this thread to prove that you can successfully follow a 1000-calore a day diet, get the nutrition you need, lead a healthy, active life, and keep the weight off for years and years.
>>>>

How can you prove anything with just 1 example? I am curious about her Food log. If possible, Could you please share her normal food log with us to let us know the items that she eat to fit in 1000 cal diet?

I still don?t understand how anyone can eat all the nutrition?s with 1000 cal. I don?t want to see list of Multi-vitamins and others to fill all the nutrition?s that I need.

A >40 years women need 2-3 glasses of milk to get the required calcium, that it self around 300 calories if you drink Fat free milk

I guess that 1000 cal is only enough if you are really small person and don't do any work in the life (like outside job that keeps you 8-10 hours physically busy or taking care of 2-3 small age kids at home + other house work)

I will go with rest of the members, I dont feel confortable about 1000 or some fixed calories.

As someone already mentioned "Reference from co-worker" is not a strong reference.

I guess it is purely about the mindset. For example, I can't count calories everyday for 30-50 years or more. I just wanted to change my life style, where I can eat good foods as much as I can, involve in physical activity that I like eg: Sports, cardio, weight etc (as long as my body support) AND eat More Calories whenever I wanted to treat myself or whenever I can't control my self.

There are tons of things that you need to every in this small life apart from couting calories :), so this is not going to work with me.

I dont mind if someone like this approch and if they feel confident that it is a good way.

BTW, I guess it is a good idea to check with your doctor before accepting any plan though.

I am sure that you already got very good tips from fellow members.

Food Log helped me to move towards healthy eating habbit. Just try to write everying you eat or drink. Eventually you figure it out the quality, calories etc from that list and you will surely move towards better foods.

Good luck, please keep in mind that CC community is always with you.

Fitness Survey- When and why Cardio/ weights/ eating Jan 08 2007

I do Cardio/Weights 7 days a week.

I normally spend 5 min on cardio before I do Weights (alternative days). This is just to make sure my body is warm and avoid injeries while doing weights. And I try to do some cardio after weights if I still have some energy left (very rare times)

I usually do this during the lunch break and I dont eat anything before doing excercise. I will eat my lunch as soon as I am done with excercise.

Try to remove Water from the food log. There is a known bug (Admin is working on that to fix) that will reduce your rating as soon as you add the water.

I am not sure whether they fixed this problem or not, jut try to remove the water and check your rating. It may work out.

Thanks Panda for your comments.

You are correct. I need to slowly build my strength to run faster. After all I never walk/run > 4mph in my life, so I guess that have to wait couple of more months.

I just wanted to update my commitment. Could you please change my goal as less than 35 minutes?

Thanks

I am in. Thanks for the initiative.

One question ....

I started my exercise program 3 months back and right now reached a point by running 3.1 M (5k)  using 5 - 5.5 mph. I am doing this once or twice per week now.

Is it a good rate or should I try to increase the speed?

Why my heart rate is increasing rapidly when I try to increase the speed a bit (like .5)? Due to lack of strong muscles?

Should I call 5-5.5 mph as running or Jogging?

Thanks in advance for your valuable suggestions.

Is it ok if I update the cummulative minutes once per week? It will save lot of our time.

Just a thought.

500 minutes between each zone is high (18 more minutes perday). Why dont we shoot for 250 so that we can try to reach next zone in few months.

like, 750, 1000, 1250, 1500, 1750, 2000, 2250 etc....

Thanks for sharing the recipe, it looks good, I will try. How about replacing butter with Olive oil to get rid of Saturated fat? Do you think that it doesn't taste as good as with butter?

BTW, I got A- when I tried that using new receipe tool.
