I second gi-jane and I thought of this when I first read your post: Paris is pretty dead in August--not the greatest time to go. Yes, go to Versailles and walk the grounds. I think they're more spectacular than the palace. Sacre Coeur is the nicest overview of Paris--great atmosphere too. Much better than the view from the Eiffel Tower. Restaurants can be expensive, but it's easy to get great food, either sit down, or on the go, from a brasserie. Wine is practically the same price as water and diet coke. Shopping high-end, low-end, and in-between is great. You can walk the entire Ile de France and there's always stuff to see. If it's something you like to do (I do!) go to Pere Lachaise. Lots of famous people and a beautiful setting. |

I am also a resident of Ontario and long-time vegetarian interested in activism. I found this to be totally bizarre. Not only is it bizarre, but it won't work. Asking Canadians to boycott maple syrup is almost as ridiculous as asking them to boycott Tim Hortons.

I've used the WW "Points" system (not core) for the last 6 years. I have been on maintenance the last 4. I still write in my journal every day. I never use my exercise as "deposit" points, but I think that's a personal decision. I also think that you should eat the minimum amount of points you require a day, and never eat below 20. I know lots of people that restrict, don't loose weight, eat more, and do loose weight. If you do points and calorie count, 1 point is equal to approx. 55 cals, but that's just a guideline. If you're on a plateau, that's normal so don't worry about. How close are you to your goal weight? It's harder as you get closer. |

I think you're eating enough, but you're weight is a little low for your height. If you're getting enough of all the right nutrients, though, maybe your body just likes that weight, for now?

I think she looked more out of shape, in comparison to before, than fat. I don't think high-waisted pants do anyone justice, either, unless you're super tall. |

Everyone has provided good advice, this is just my 2 cents . . . It's possible you feel that way because you are only 24 and you said you have been with him for 8 years, since you were 16. I can't imagine you had too many serious relationships prior to 16. Your entire young adult life has been spent with this person. I think what you're feeling is completely normal. I'm sure a lot of people never acknowledge such feelings and end up, in some way, unfulfilled later on. Whomever said that you have to honest with yourself, and your partner, is right: I don't think feelings like this disappear. Good luck! [for reference: I am 27, want to be with my currrent parter, but not ready to marry. This is partly because the career I've chosen requires a lot of schooling and it's hard to be in family mode when that's the case :) ] |

ASA (American Sociological) and APA (American Psychological) are very similar, though they do have have slight variations when to use what at different times, i.e. parenthetical citations, footnotes, etc.
If you're used to MLA, it is very different from APA and ASA. Social Science prof are usually not too happy, either, when you hand in a paper with MLA citation format. If you google ASA and APA, there are on-line citation guides listed. |

I think it's important to feel good about yourself in order to go through the process of loosing weight. If you're BMI is above 30, though, I think saying "big + healthy" is akin to being in denial. It's going to catch up with you eventually, so might as well deal with it now.
And I definitely agree Kirstie Alley was more than 200 lbs. |

Vegetarians may or may not wear animal products; it's not inherent to the ideology compared to veganism which does not at all.
I would find it extremely odd, however, if a vegetarian wore fur. |

I don't particularly like fundamentalism of any kind, whether you're on the Christian-right or atheist side. Not to drag another religion into this, but I prefer the middle way. I'm not criticizing Christians or atheists, I just think if you stray too far in either direction, you're missing something. |

There's no doubt that a historical Jesus did live. Whether he was resurrected, or not, is a matter of faith. There are a number of credible authors, such as Josephus, who was mentioned, but there is not a lot of "significant corroborating evidence from archaeological findings in the area." Yes, there are findings, but we don't know enough, yet, to say whether they are "significant" or "corroborating" I was raised Roman Catholic and went to a Catholic school. I love studying religion so much, that I decided to make a career out of it by going to graduate school to study religion. However, I do agree with the original poster on this forum. I lot of Christians I know are total hypocrites. In fact, I got so tired of it that I lost faith in the Church, though I still maintain an interest in religion and spirituality. |

| Vegetarian | meat is good for you! TRUST ME. | Jun 09 2008 20:48 (UTC) |

| If it was me, I would tell him that I understand his opinion, but to respect my choice to not eat meat. If he doesn't get the point, tell him how you feel about him constantly saying this instead of making jokes or changing the subject. I don't know why you went veg, but if you're vegan you must have some ethical beliefs against eating meat. Therefore, whether it's good for you or not doesn't really matter - - that's not why you're vegan. |

I have been a lacto-ovo vegetarian for 5 years. I had an immediate, altered state-of-consciousness, which was sort of like a 'mystical' experience, I guess.
None of my friends, or family, was vegetarian, at the time. Initially they were not supportive, but they've accepted it now.
My boyfriend is also vegetarian. He wasn't when I met him, but after a few weeks of him not eating meat I asked what was up. He changed for my sake, which was nice, even though I didn't ask him to (that was two years ago). I would like to become vegan because I agree with the principal behind it. |

jsdamdam: Why are spelling vegan veg*n?
veg*n refers to any type of vegetarian or vegan.
Ok, I'm out of the loop then, because I've been veg for 8 years and I have never seen it spelled that way. |

I often get a pita at a Pita Pit close to where I live. Whenever I ask people to change their gloves, they look at me like I'm a bloody criminal. Sorry, I don't want you to make my sandwich after you've been digging through a drawer full of raw meat. I stopped going there. Not to mention Europe where they think you're an alien if you say you're veg. I hate when people ask me why I'm veg at a restaurant or dinner party. If I told you, you might loose your appetite-so I don't. Extend me the same courtesy instead of waving your steak in my face (I don't know why they think I want it, but anyway). I can TOTALLY relate. |

| Weight Loss | Has anyone lost 50 lbs?? How long did it take? | Apr 23 2008 04:20 (UTC) |

I lost 54 lbs six years ago and have kept it off. I took me two years to loose the weight. Slow, but, as a result, I kept it off. I had similar stats as you at the start. I am 5'4" and weighed 181 lbs. Loosing it slowly is a good idea: you can adjust to your new body and new lifestyle. I found maintaining more difficult than loosing. Once you get into a routine, and are determined, loosing the weight shouldn't be too difficult. |

eating too little always backfires. You can't eat 500-800 calories the rest of life. Once you return to eating properly, you body will cling to those extra calories-stalling weight loss. Eat at least 1250.
You will also have more success loosing weight. |

| Vegetarian | Do you know how to cook Tofu ????? | Apr 11 2008 19:27 (UTC) |

I freeze it, thaw it, press it and stir-fry it with sesame oil + soy sauce most nights, but other times I'm more creative. If you're new to tofu: Extra-firm is better for stir-fries and baking in the oven. Medium is good for soups and casseroles. Silken can be used in soup, baking, and I like it in fruit smoothies. |

msmhouse: It's not a fine science. I calculate 1 POINT as equivalent to 55 calories. As you know (from POINTS CALCULATOR) 1 POINT can go up to 70 calories, depending on the amount of fibre and fat. I eat about 27 POINTS a day for maintenance, so 27 x 55= 1485 calories. It's an estimation, though, so leave room for calculation error. |
