HI, it's been a while since I've been on here. I have some good news for once ^_^ I went from 148 last year to 130! I'm almost there, only 5-10 more pounds to go. I actually lost the weight in the past three months. That was when I started bellydancing class. That class was magic!! Yay! |

| Weight - 140lbs (I lost a pound, and gained it back) Lost 0 lbs =( Time Exercised - 6.6 hrs (just walking to the store) I think I'm a little over worked jumping over all of those baby gates with loose joints, and running up the stairs. I just hurt my knee, so I'm at a loss when it comes to exercise. I'm going to just try simple floor workouts, but a lot of that stuff still uses the knee >.< I also really fell off of the wagon this week =( My friend is starting cal count, but she wanted to go out, and get some bad food for a sweet fair well...I joined her >.>.......... bad bad me. I hate peer pressure =P Any advice for staying healthy, and loosing weight during flu season? |

Thank you guys ^_^ Hahaha. I guess I can tell him that I just might kick him if he tempts me with bad food. =P I think he thinks it's cute when I give in and go for his bad food. He is super skinny, and he eats only once a day, if that. When he does eat it's terrible junk food. I think I really have to be tough, and firm with him. I think I should try your advice dpalacios. I'll just tell him that I need him to help me with this. |

| I had been eating only junk food. I just started CC, and every one I know is giving me a really hard time about it. I just want to eat healthy options. They are all trying to say that counting calories will lead to an eating disorder, and it's really frustrating. Now that I've started CC, I'm eating more than I did before, and I'm losing weight! I love food, and now I'm eating healthy stuff. I'm getting more nutrition, so take that mom =P |

OK. How do you guys deal with a husband who comes home with hot roundtable pizza just for you? I was still ok as far as my daliy calories were concerned after the pizza, but it's so bad for me >.< I have the hardest time telling him that I don't whant to eat stuff like that because I do want it! =( I know that things like that are really slowing down my weight loss, even if my calorie count is ok...sigh. I can say no to my self, but I can't say no to my wonderful husband showing up with food just for me. Any advice? P.S. I'm so doing that leek thing this weekend now >.< |

cyberminx- I know how you feel about those carbs. I think low fat broths with negative cal veggies, and low fat meats are really comforting when you're cold. I have this amazing recipe/ fast thing from that "french women don't get fat" book. I'm off to try it my self this weekend. It's this hot yummy leek soup (It's a negative calorie food), and the hot broth is so good on those cold days ^_^ I'm sure it's in the recipe forum, but I'll post it here for you. (you can snack on this soup or the leeks any time you want as well) Magical Leek Soup (Broth). Serves 1 for the weekend. Ingredients: 2 pounds leeks 1. Clean the leeks and rinse well to get rid of sand and soil. Cut off the ends of the dark green parts, leaving all the white parts plus a suggestion of pale green. (Reserve the extra greens for soup stock.) 2. Put the leeks in a large pot and cover with water. Bring to a boil, reduce the heat, and simmer uncovered for 20 to 30 minutes. Pour off the liquid and reserve. Place the leeks in a bowl. The juice is to be drunk (reheated or at room temperature to taste) every 2 to 3 hours, 1 cup at a time. For meals, or whenever hungry, have some of the leeks themselves, 1/2 cup at a time. Drizzle with a few drops of extra-virgin olive oil and lemon juice. Season sparingly with salt and pepper. Sprinkle with chopped parsley if you wish. This will be your nourishment for both days, until Sunday dinner, when you can have a small piece of meat or fish (4 to 6 ounces), with 2 vegetables, steamed with a bit of butter or olive oil, and a piece of fruit. |

| I'd say that 10 pounds in a month is way way to fast. It should be more like 2 lbs a month. You don't want to hurt yourself. =\ | |||

My cycle was a bit off during the first 6 months after I had my boy. I've also had it change a tiny bit when I got really stressed out, but I've always made sure that I had a healthy body fat % when I was watching my weight, or working out. Normally the menstrual cycle will not be affected by diet/exercise unless you're body fat percentage is too low. Stress can also cause some changes. Still, in the first year postpartum the cycle can be different than usual, but keep your doctor informed of any major changes I do know that what you eat can also affect how the brain functions, so I'd up the omega 3s, since they are good for that. I would still tell your doctor. I had never had any problems with depression, but after I had my baby boy, I had a terrible time with it for 6 months. The good news is that the hormones can level out, but I would still seek the advice of a professional about that. |

Kheather72 Are you talking about your experience? That has me worried. If you are having these problems, then you should see a doctor as soon as possible!! I would also tell them how much you weighed before, after, and how fast you lost it O.O Since you have just had a baby the menstrual changes may be due to brest feeding. The depression could be a hormonal thing, and you should really talk to your doctor about that. |

Did you know that a little bit of dark chocolate a day is good for your heart? http://www.webmd.com/content/article/88/99702 .htm I also heard that it can improve your over all blood sugar levels, and reduce your risk of diabetes type 2. |

Hey Seashel ^_^ I would totally count walking the dog. The calorie counter even offers things like brushing your teeth lol. Everything you do burns calories. It's just that some things burn more than others. I think that walking every day, and doing floor work as well, sounds really good. Plus, you can wear weights on your wrists and power walk the dog to get a serious workout. P.S. you're already looking awesome, it must be working for you ^_^ |

wow. Lactavia that kind of hurt. I hope you are not including me in that post. I'm a dancer trying to get back into her leotard who's 5' 9"/5' 10", and my goal is around 120-125. =( I don't want to make anyone feel bad about their numbers either. I'm not very chubby right now, and I think that depending on the person, people can look way too skinny at 5' 6" and 160 lbs (my cousin). Plus, I know a ton of girls who are totally stunning with a more curvy full figured look. I think that it would be a terrible shame for them to get "thin". I just posted a current pic of me. As you can see, I'm not fat, but I'm not thin either. I just want my old butt, and waist back lol =P I can't fit into any of my pants >.< I'm very small boned, and now that I've had a baby, I've really gained weight. I'm not fat at all, but I still would like to lose a tad bit of weight like 10-20 lbs (not much for a tall person), and get back into shape. I was 155 a few months after that baby. I started the diet at 148 one year post baby, and I'm now 139 which should be a "target weight" but my doctor told me that my body fat percentage was way to high, and that I could benefit from losing some weight, eating right, and exercising. That really shocked me. Everyone I know has been telling me that I should loose some weight and get into shape, and last weekend my grandfather even told me that I was getting fat. I know that he was a total jerk, and that I am not even slightly fat, but I am out of shape, and I keep gaining weight, so I just thought I should start now, and try to get my old body back. Ok. That's my story. I just want to eat healthy food, exercise, and loose a little weight. But I'm starting to think that I'm not very welcome here being way over 5' 6" =\ |

I do know that ballet can give you really strong, toned, thin calves. Maybe streching, and working the calve by really pointing your toes, and doing deep lunges. There are some good streaching/workouts for the calves, and ankles using those flex bands. |

I do think that having a mental illness can make dieting really hard. I wish you the best. I don't know if anyone has emitophobia (fear of vomiting), but it can make dieting hard. I'm a bit touchy about what I eat, and how I cook it. |

Hi mary ^_^ Thanks for adding me. I think that being positive is realy the only way to be in a forum like this. That is what we are all here for. I've been trying so hard to help my mom feel beautiful, and strong, but she has been having the hardest time. Of cource, I also have a hard time when she tries to jump on me about my weight gain. I know she feels bad about her self, so I try to just do what I can to make her feel better. I think that she's amazing, and beautiful at any weight, though I don't want her heart to start giving out on her like her friend. It has me worried. You know, I used to forget to eat every now and then, later, food bacame my favoret passtime. I've always loved it, but then I started looking to something sugary or fatty just to cheer me up. Right now, I'm working on getting back into my old mind set. I really enjoyed food that was healthy, and I did not need to eat untill I was really stuffed. I just ate untill I was not hungry any more. I do know how you feel about those oreos, they are a weekness of mine too. I have been doing really good this week though ^_^ Yay for me. Not one bit of Holloween candy. I'm still having cany dreams, but those frozen green beens are really helping haha! Any time I want something sweet, I just eat a few frozen green beans. It really works =D |

| Ravinlark- Was that post for me? You don't have to be a dancer to be healthy, though being physically active is a good thing. I would recommend finding something that works for you. I was just saying that not all people fit into those charts perfectly, and that seeing a doctor is the best way to find out if you are at a healthy weight. |

Hey. I'd love to add any tips I've learned over the years. I still have a ways to go, but I've seen struggles on both sides of the BMI fence. My mother, her best friend, and my best friend, have been medically obese for most of my life, and I've seen them struggle with their relationship with food, and exercise for years. The good news is that my friend has lost 80 lbs, and she has kept her weight at 130 for two years now. She so rocks! ^_^ One thing that is really working for me is eating foods that take more calories to burn than what is even in them. Like: green beans, asparagus, broccoli, spinach, celery root, cucumber, garlic, onions, leeks, cabbage, celery, zucchini, strawberries, lemon, limes etc. I think they are called negative calorie foods. I just eat a bigger portion of them, and then I eat proper servings of the foods I need, like protein, and good fats etc, while still counting the calories, and working out of course. They won't be super filling, but they really do help, and drinking 1/2 a cup of fat free milk really cut's the hunger. It has protein, and loads of calcium, so it's super good for us girls. Hope this helps ^_^ |

This is to those concerned about the tall girls in this thread. I am a dancer, and when I was 120 lbs and 5' 9"/5' 10" I was told by my doctor that, though I had a slightly low BMI, I was perfectly healthy (I do have a small frame), and that my blood pressure, body fat %, and cardio health was amazing. If you are concerned about wether or not your weight is healthy, try a visit to your doctor. Not all people fit into those set scales, and charts. I was dancing and eating a high nutrient, balanced diet, when I was 120 lbs. I was 128 lbs for years when I was eating pizza, and other junk food (I don't purge, or starve...ever >.< It's not healthy!) the dance must have been keeping me thin. I'm just trying to say that everyone has a different body type, so please don't be too harsh on tall girls who want to feel healthy. I am totally out of shape now, and I had a baby one year ago. I'm 140 lbs, so I don't fit into my clothes, and people in my family are telling me that I'm getting fat >.< I have been eating too much junk, and I'm really out of shape. I just want to feel healthy again, so please don't be too hard on tall girls like me =\ Anyway I might decide to stay at 125 lbs, when I get there. If it works for me, and I'm not planning on starving. I really want to eat right, and get in shape by exercising. |
