| When I get totally confused while following those videos, I just jog in place. At least it keeps the heart rate up until I can figure out the next move. Each time you do it, you should get better at it. I think that so long as you are moving and keeping your heart rate up, you are getting a work out. | |||

| I know I can't wait to be thin again. My current husband has never seen me weigh less than 140, but once before I got down to 110. I will be happy in the 120's. I can't wait to see how my husband looks at me when I am thin. Now I notice him looking at the fattest parts of my body when he doesn't think I am looking. I don't want to feel ashamed to have my husband look at me.
No I am not just losing weight for my husband. I need to be healthy again. I stopped smoking 2 years ago and have been putting on weight ever since. I want to be thin and attractive again. |

| I am so glad I took the time to check out the forums today. GREAT MOTIVATION!!!
I agree that I felt sick after eating things like pie, potato chips and to much junk!!! My son and daughter-in-law left yesterday, so I get my exercise room back and I am throwing away all the junk food that is left in the house. Good bye homemade FUDGE!!! Tomorrow morning I am also getting up early and getting in at least a half hour of exercise before work. I am going to make a chart tonight with exercises on it and the number of times per week that I want to do each exercise. I am hoping that this will help. I am also going back to filling in my food journal. I have done so well since Nov. 1 (11 pounds) that I can't allow myself to quit now (it crossed my mind for a minute). Haven't weighed myself since before Christmas, but I feel like I have gained. NO MORE BEING LAZY!!!!! |

| That is so weird, I have had cold hands the last couple of weeks. I know it is getting to be winter here in upstate NY, but I am usually very warm. I guess I need to exercise more to keep the blood pumping into the extremities. | |||
| Weight Loss | ~ Popcorn?? What do you think about it? ~ | Dec 07 2006 00:09 (UTC) |

| I eat a mini bag of that 100 cal. microwave popcorn almost every night and I have lost 7 pounds in a little over 5 weeks. I make sure I save 100 calories in my total just for my popcorn. I also make sure I drink lots of water before and after, even though I am up a couple of times a night to go to the bathroom.
I am thinking of getting an airpopped popper, it would be cheaper to buy the regular old fashioned popcorn than the microwave kind. |

| If I am given something personally, I tell the donor that I will eat it later. Then I immediately call my husband and tell him I am bringing him home a treat. I put it out of sight and then (hopefully) I don't eat it. The other trick I use is when I get the urge to eat goodies that are littering the food counter at work, I chew a piece of sugarfree gum and drink water. All of these tricks are not fool proof, I still eat a little of the goodies, but I figure for everyone that I can avoid, I am making progress. Another trick might be to visualize that piece of candy or cookie glued onto your hips, or stomach and how ugly that would be. | |||

| That was great. You have such a good sense of humor. I know I am going to have to fight the "Christmas Calorie War" very soon. This will probably be the weekend when everyone bakes their little Christmas goodies to bring in and "litter" the counter with (which happens to be right outside my office door). Maybe I can have someone tie me to my chair so I can win the first Monday battle. | |||

| Weight Loss | I looked that brownie right in the face... | Nov 08 2006 00:10 (UTC) |

| I also refused a brownie yesterday and again today. Someone at work must have been bored this past weekend and brought in a hugh container of brownies with chips in them yesterday. Everyone was raving about them, but I avoided them, it wasn't easy. This afternoon I was really tempted to the point that I left my office and went out to the front office where the brownies were lurking earlier in the day and guess what - THEY WERE ALL GONE!! How lucky can one person get? | |||

| Awesome link for exercises. I can't afford to go to the gym so I try to work out at home. I am always worried about not doing the exercises correctly and then pulling a muscle or just not getting the most out of my exercise. | |||

| I am going to try to do a work out with weights about 3-4 days a week. Does anyone know of a website that can show some workouts to do with weights. I have a pretty good arm and shoulder workout already, but need something for the rest of me. | |||

| Welcome Dora. I am also new to this site, 6 days. I have found so many helpful hints and a lot of support on this site.
I have never counted calories before and am amazed at how many calories are in certain foods. It definitely helps to put everything you eat into your food list. My 25 year old daughter and I are comparing our grades at the end of each day and what we ate. I am glad you mentioned those Richard Simmonds tapes. I also have them stashed away some where. I think I will get them out and try them to. I agree he is a geek, but anything that gets us off our butts and doing something helps out and I also like the music. |

| Rainbownine you are truly an inspiration to me. I am in a tight size 16 now, and would love to fit into a size 8 or 10.
What is your typical weekly exercise routine? I know that once I set up a regular exercise routine I will stick to it. I am just not sure how often to do weights or cardio. I can't afford to go to the gym, but I do have a ski machine at home and some 5 and 10 pound weights. I also have one of those stablizer balls (I think that is what you call them). |

| I hope you aren't setting your sights to high, because I have the same dream, except for maybe the 2 piece swimsuit. I don't think that will ever happen, but I would like to wear fitting clothes without being self conscious.
I am 5'2" and currently weigh 179 and my goal weight is 123, but I am also 49 years old. I am not sure if it is possible to tone up a body that has been overweight for this long. But I am going to give it my best shot. |

| I agree. My daughter and I just started counting our calories this week and we both have a goal of 10 pounds by Christmas morning. We know that this may be a bit much considering the time of year, but we are going to give it our best shot. And if we make it, what a great Christmas present!!! | |||

| That is absolutely awesome. Congrats.
I like that idea of picking up something that weighs 10 lbs to see how that much weight feels. I am going to use that as I reach 5 pounds or 10. |

| I guess I am confused about the number of calories I should have in a day. What happens if like once a week I only eat 800-1000 calories, but the rest of the week I stay around 1200-1300. Will that one day mess up my weight loss? Should my goal be to stay consistant with the number of calories I eat each day?
Also, what if on a particular day I get quite a bit more exercise, should I try to consume more calories that day. I thought the simple goal was to consume less calories than you burn. |

| Weight Loss | How Many of Us Make Seperate Meals For Family? | Nov 04 2006 00:31 (UTC) |

| I just started counting my calories 3 days ago and I believe that my husband will sabotage my healthy eating also. He already is getting an attitude about me not eating what he is eating. But since I am the one that does the cooking, either he will have to eat what I put on the table or go without. I will continue to cook what he likes to eat, and maybe tweak the recipes a little towards the healthy side without him knowing it. When I go grocery shopping this weekend I intend on repackaging the meat in one serving packages. That way if I want to eat what I am cooking for him I can just take out 2 packages and if I don't... I know it is going to take time to get my husband (the junk food junkie) to eat healthier, but like everyone is saying this has to be a lifestyle change in order to work. I know I won't want to cook separate meals forever. | |||

| I think I would be afraid to weigh my self every day. If I gained weight 2 or 3 days in a row I would probably get discouraged. I am going to weigh myself once a week. That way hopefully I will see some difference. | |||

| I also just joined this site yesterday. For the first day I just ate normal and WOW I can't believe the number of calories I consumed in one day. Today, because I knew I would be imputing what I ate and counting the calories, I did not make the trip to the candy machine for my midafternoon "pick me up". Instead I went outside and walked around the building. I am going to consciously paying attention to what I eat. I have never counted calories before, this site makes the counting pretty easy. It is also great to hear everyone else's stories. | |||

| I am new to this site. Began today. My adult daughter pointed me to this site. I have never counted calories in my life. Today I just ate "normal" and was surprised that I ate over 2000 calories in one day!!!! No wonder I am almost 70 lbs overweight. I can see that I have a lot to learn. These motivational forums definitely help. I hope to hear more of your stories. | |||

| I don't have the cravings very often at all any more, but when I do I just remember how devestated my 6 year old neice was when my sister died. Sometimes it helps to think about the people who love you.
Now I just have to get through this battle with the weight gain. But if I can quit smoking I know I can lose this weight. This website really helps. I enjoy reading everyone's stories and how they cope with problems that come up. |

| I quit smoking August 16, 2003, after smoking for about 30 years. I had quit a few times over the years, the longest being almost 5 years. But this time it is for good. After watching my 35 year old sister die from cancer and leave behind a 6 year old beautiful little girl, and then my father-in-law died from cancer about 3 months later, I knew it was time to quit. What was the ultimate reason was when my oldest son told me that is what he wanted for a wedding present. He said that when he had children he wanted them to know their grandmother. This time I know it is going to work, because I didn't just quit for myself, I quit because I love my children and husband and NEVER want to put them through what I went through taking care of people I loved while they were waisting away from cancer. |
