Hello Ladies and Gents,

It took some doing and a minor set-back but I finally made it. As of this morning I'm at 199! ::dance of joy::

These past few weeks have been very rough. In addition to an emotional binge (my first slip in 9 months and I'm watching it closely), I currenty went on the pill and gained some water weight. Not to mention the increase in hunger (don't know if that was also a pill side-effect.)

So I've been patiently watching my intake, actually increase my intake as lately I've been running a deficit. Waiting, waiting, bingo!

Hopefully it's all down-scale from here, but I'm elated. Haven't weighed this low since undergrad (I'm 39, so that's quite some time ago.)

Now I wiggle my ass with pride! Congrats to all who are here and working. Stick with it!
Weight Loss How Much Do You Fluctuate Each Day? Apr 04 2007

I can fluxuate 1 to 3 pounds and attribute it to water weight. Particularly if I know I've been eating well, giving me no reason for a solid gain.

I agree with the weighing once a week. If you're unable to handle the 1 to 2 pound gains emotionaly, then weigh yourself less often. No point in adding unneeded stress.

Weight Loss Really hungry in the morning Apr 02 2007
13:02 (UTC)
I love breakfast, it's my favorite meal of the day. I'll consume my larger portion of calories on just that one meal. Sometimes as high as 600 calories.

Always my breakfast is a combo of any (and not all at once ;) of the following: high fiber cereal, egg, fresh fruit, yogurt, whole-wheat bagel (again, high fiber), oatmeal, coffee, etc. I mix up the breakfast combos to keep things from getting boring.

Having such a large meal in the morning helps me not feel starved throughout the day. Plus it gives me the remainder of the day to burn off what I've eaten.

There's also the psychological element of my morning breakfast being my time. I take my time to eat my meal while getting ready, sometimes reading the paper, etc. It's a time of day when I can focus a little on me, before the rush of the day's activities take over.

There are a few items i'm holding on to to remind me from where I came, such as a large grey sweatshirt. And I refuse to get rid of my hockey jersey.

But i'm going through sizes like crazy. This weekend I went through my closet to see what i could possibly wear from last season's spring/summer clothes. Nothing. I can't wear a bloody thing. And in that collection are a number of cute pants and tops, really a shame. But too expensive to get altered, so off to charity they go.

Which means more shopping. :)

My sex drive is out of control. How's that for a bonus? I've become an unashamed sexpot. But only in the most respectible of ways.

I have more self-confidence which is leading me to stick up for myself when called for. I smile more at people. I flirt. The libido thing really took me by suprise, never factored that in as a possible change.

Question...how much does a person's weight fluctuate in a day?? Is it just a few pounds or more...or less??  Just curious.

My weight can fluctuate between 1 and 2 pounds in one day. If I didn't know better, I'd freak out over this when it happens. But I know that more than likely it's water weight. Particularly if my eating is on-target.

Another factor to consider is the monthly cycle. That too can always add a few pounds until its run its course.

Can I just say, I'm thrilled to find my new body! I HAVE HIP BONES!!  I'm only 3 pounds away from no longer being a member of this illustriuos club. My weight hasn't been this low since my undergrad (and that's eons ago.)

Foods Shoot me I had chocolate :( Mar 27 2007
13:50 (UTC)

"Don't see this as a diet where you aren't allowed somethings.  See it as a change in your eating habits where you control portions, and control even more the things that you love to eat."

No truer words.

Loser, you have to take on a lifestyle that you can live with without remorse. If not you're not going to be happy and give up. Find a healthy balance for yourself. If you are able to fit in the occassional chocolate, then kudos. You have the tools and the intellect to make this work. Besides, life would be boring if we didn't allow ourselves the occassional indulgence.

If you have chocolate, then factor it into your calories for the day. Period. If you mess up and go over, then tomorrow is another day.

Experiments with worms suggest humans might one day be able to eat themselves to a longer and healthier life.

My first reaction to this line was "ew, are they suggesting cannibalism?"

I'm obviously half-asleep and need more coffee...

Motivation My WOOOOHOOOO for the day!! What is yours? Mar 24 2007

I love WOOHOOs, so happy to see several here.

My WOOHOO is, even though in indulged and had a burger and fries last night, I managed to loose another pound. This is making my grand total 70 pounds since July '06! :) :)

I now weigh less than I did when I was in grad school. Hell, less than I did when I moved up to DC some 16 years ago.

The day I get below the 200 marker, I think I'll be elated. Not sure how I'll celebrate, maybe a new bathing suit (since the one I have not doesn't fit.)

Anyway WOOHOO to us all!!
Weight Loss i hate myself Mar 24 2007

Don't hate yourself, ever. Pick yourself off, brush yourself off and start all over again.

We all slip up from time to time. Learn from your mistake and move forward. Don't punish yourself.

Be kinder to yourself. You're loosing the weight for your health, for you. Love yourself, embrace all your good and bad. Then start again.
Weight Loss not getting my period Mar 22 2007
12:23 (UTC)

I'm currently going through an odd series of monthly cycles. For ages my periods were unusually long with heavy bleeding. I went to the gyno and we've done an ultrasound and found nothing wrong. Right now I'm waiting for the test results of my endrometrial biopsy to rule out any adnomality.

My theory is my periods were irregular due to excess weight. The body stores extra estrogen in the bodyfat (my simple layman's take on this). This was making my hormones a little kaplooey. However, I've lost 70 pounds and my periods are very irregular. I think my body and hormones are trying to find a balance. My plan is to go on the pill so that I can regulate my body.

Bottom line, talk to your gynocologist. Speak with them about your concerns, your weight changes, etc. As weird as it may sound, I love my gynocologys (lol) because she's very patient and thorough. I tell her everything and she gives me options and information. Look to your doctor for answers. Let them educate you about your body.
Weight Loss Cereal for Breakfast? Mar 21 2007
12:33 (UTC)
10
for breakfast I mix it up, rotating different foods on different days. but i must admit, i'm a cereal junkie. i eat a number of the Kashi cereals with skim milk, sometimes tossing in some fruit.

i'd eat cereal for dinner too. i tend to like the high fiber cereals like Go Lean Crunch. sometimes i'll put a serving in a baggie and take it to work for a snack, eating it dry out of the bag.

all good stuff.

Weight Loss treated differently with weight loss? Mar 20 2007

I've noticed a huge difference in the way people related with me. Before people were cordial, but I always felt invisible. Funny to think that the weight made me invisible.

Now, some 70 pounds less, I'm getting alot of attention from both men and women. People smile at me more, engage me in conversation more.

I think a part of it is I'm more self-confident and outgoing because I feel much better about myself.

Gah, I'm sick too. Very bad headcold. I have hardly any appetite and when I eat, I feel a little ill. Today I'm lucky if I clocked 600 calories.

Feh.

Here's to hoping all the sickies out there feel better soon!
