OK, now I wanted to update you all in regards to my original post. Yes it was me that was suffering from those unwanted Depo pounds, but come to find out I wasn't the only one! I want to thank everyone that has shared their trials & tribulations of the Depo Shot as well as all of the other posts too! I was determined to get back to a healthy weight & to get rid of that horrible chemical that was in my body, ugh... yuck! I am SO happy that I did it! I discontinued getting the shot after gaining even more weight than I previously posted the first time for a total of 25lbs!!! Not cool... Right then I knew I wasn't going to be returning for a second injection my arm, no way! The good news is that about a month later my menstrual cycle went back to normal & also my exercise & eating regimen started to pay off!!! ... I am not done losing all of the weight that I want yet, but it sure does feel good to be 25lbs lighter again... Thank You Jesus!Innocent

**Prettypopcandy... you are so sweet and thoughtful for making such a thread**

Well, I am a bootylicious African-Native American, 5'7, 25yrs old with 24lbs to lose. My height disguises the weight, I guess thats a plus for being tall. But I do have fat that I want to get rid of and its mostly on my hips, thighs, and bum! My upper body is fine, even though I could do more toning on my arms and abs.

I think that genetics played a huge role in my weight. I have family members of all shapes and sizes but there is a trend. We carry more weight on our lower bodies. But like we all know is that everyones body type is different.

Good luck to all on accomplishing your goals!Wink

Guilty as charged!Foot in mouth I managed to lose weight and got down to 152lbs in April 07'... Then I decided to switch my birth control right around the summer time and I ever since then my weight shot back up to 177lbs in Oct 07'. OMG!!! I couldn't believe it. I had abandoned calorie count and healthy eating all in together due to hormone changes and extreme cravings for fatty foods.

So I decided to kick my exercise and diet regimen back into gear. I held my head up high and kept strong. And now I have already managed to lose 5lbs, Nov 07'... And counting, I'm still at it!

You did the right thing, by noticing your faults which is good. But we all make mistakes, no ones perfect. All it takes is time management, patience, and commitment and you will be successful! I know you can do it because you already have before.

Stick with it and share with us your hard working results when you see your hard work paying off! Good luck to you.... Wink

Are you exercising along with your diet?

Those who diet only tend to have that problem due to lack of exercise while reducing caloric intake. Start walking and adding some type of cardio in your regimen if you haven't already...

I know that there are a lot of cremes on the market too, I don't know how they work though.. Good luck!!!

Well I don't know if you tried this already, but go to eatright.org. I am in college right now studying to be a (DTR; Dietetic Technician, Registered). Try this website out, we use this website to obtain knowledgeable information about nutrition and health. But if you want to gain access to certain areas it does require a password for members only.

So hopefully that helps a little. Good luck to you on your journey! I'd like to add this, I am enjoying the different panels, clinicals, and studies so far that I need to obtain my credentials. Its been a great deal to my diet/fitness regimen... but again it does require a degree, I think its worth it! Wink

Wow... thanks to all that has posted! ....For the ones that don't know what depo is(Deprovera Shot- it is a form of birth control to prevent pregnancy that is injected either in your arm or bum... it last for three months)... but the other side effects that I don't like is the break through bleeding. At any given time it can happen and it sucks!

Foods What Do You Eat When You Dont Feel Like Cooking? Apr 30 2007

Here's a suggestion....why don't you buy those same items that you would get from the restaurants from your grocery store and cook it urself. I too, was in your position minus the family. I do have a fiance though. And we went to a lot of fast food joints and just made the best out of every trip......being tempted to bring on those potatoes and unwanted calories in general. Just as long as someone else besides me was serving it, I took advantage and was ready to eat!

I have been preparing my own meals for quite some time now. And I found out by me doing this is making me loose the weight FINALLY! Restaurants add so many unneccessary ingredents that are unknown to the consumer. So try picking up some fresh lean meats from your meat department some fresh veggies and get going. I bet you'll come out spending a lot less at the grocery store than eating out all of the time. All that going out to eat adds up!

Here is what I am cooking tonight for dinner....
Porterhouse thin cut steaks, with a baked potato and some steamed broccoli to finish it off. MMM it tastes so good, better than take out. You can add your sour creams or cheese but do it in moderation. At the end of our meal we are both full and feel good. I promise that you will feel good too. Taking the time out to prepare your own meals and not relying on your local rest stop will also make you feel good. And the best part is......you know whats in it because you made it! Give it a try.

Check out this site it offers a lot of other ideas for dinner, breakfast, lunch and snacks..... Good luck!

Health & Support Epilepsy and Weight Gain Apr 30 2007

I am an epileptic and I take meds....only I don't think that they make me gain weight though. I take Phenytoin Sodium and the side effects that I do get is bad gums and a bad odor in my mouth. I think that my meds actually aids in my weightloss. I am currently 158lbs and I am going for 145.......so far so good.

Just go to your doctor and tell him/her your problem. I am sure that they will change your meds if it is making you gain weight or making you bothersome.... In the meantime eat some fruit like an orange or an apple, before and after workouts. I snack on fruit cups and fruit though out the day to keep me full...... I hope that helps, good luck!!!
