I know for sure that avocado and walnuts help in that regard.  Also, onions and garlic!

Forgot to mention: eliminate all forms of processed meats!  The preservatives and sodium levels in processed meats have a negative affect on cholesterol and triglycerides.

Congrats on the 40 pounds lost!  That is great!

Yes, I finished working out with my personal trainer at my local gym, and since that time, I have lost 14 pounds (3 months).  He never says anything about my weight loss each time I see him and say hi at the gym.  Kind of frustrating really.

I just saw that infomercial this morning as well!  and I thought what a load of crap... not much in the way of weights used and for only 10 minutes!!  Your body needs about 20 minutes just to start warming up before it says hey I will burn fat from this workout!  Plus diet is a Major factor!  You are right - they are in it for the sales...

I know this sounds like the wrong thing to do, but could you possibly say you have to go to the bathroom or something and let them handle to crouds??  Start slacking a little and make them work more!  Maybe give a little attitude also....   I wouldn't take that s**t!  YOu seem to have your act together and I believe you won't have any problems finding a new job, OR maybe all this will work itself out for the better, and you can keep your job.  I remember entering the work world at your age...it was very stressful for me as well!  You are still feeling your way around your environment; believe me, you WILL be able to handle your stress better with age!  And when things get really rough, just take a breather, try to relax, and know that you are above all of that nonsense!  I was in your shoes before!

Hi all!  HOpe everyone had a great Labor Day weekend!  Well I did and I'm paying for it - gained a little over a pound:

5. AUGUST 29 - did not weigh in;   Sept. 3 - 145.4 (gained a pound over Labor day weekend!)

I thought it would have been lower since I focused on running over the weekend, however, I think I ate quite a bit at the family get together - a weekend of nothing but FOOD!  Anyway, I hope to lose it quickly and get back on track with losing by Christmas!  ...and beyond!

Hi everyone - I have had a pretty bad week with the diet & exercise dealing with PMS and other female issues... feeling pretty crappy, so haven't weighed myself in probably 5 days, so I will weigh in and post tomorrow morning.  Congrats on everyone's losses so far!  Next week will be challenging too - TTOM!

Hi there doodleynoodle - I know that high BP can be hereditary, however, some of that can be controlled... sounds like you are doing things right with your eating, but what about exercise?  My father has high BP, but walks daily, and his readings  have been pretty good lately!  I think steady regular walking will help, if you're not already doing that...(oh, as well as watching the sodium intake as well...my favorite ingredient!)

um...yeeah... I went from around 145.8 to 148 lbs as of today, so I am pissed...

I have been counting my calories and working out like a mo-fo!!  So, I just stuffed 3 servings of cheese into my pie-hole because I am mad!  Do you ever eat because you are mad??  My goal was to be around 144 by the end of this week.  Well, today I am taking a break!

Sounds good Melkor!  I'll give it a try... I'm already lifting heavy and doing HIIT, but I'm currently at around 24% BF and would like to lean up some, drop from 145 to the 120 range and show the muscle that's hiding!  I also have really modified my diet quite a bit as well.  Thanks!

Hi Melkor - what do you recommend as a great workout for the highest metabolic cost? Circuits? Tabata? HIIT?  Or a combo?  I have been doing all, but would like some advice if you would please??

Hey bigbluefeet - sorry if I'm a little late for the reply here... but you sound exactly like my twin, except I'm 35, so we could be sisters...  I am 5'4"  too and have been exercising like mad and watching my calorie intake as well.  VERY hard to get out of the 140s range!  I used to be in the low 120s when I was your age.  I just can't understand why it is nearly impossible to get back down to that level again, because I used to be that weight.  But I DO understand the genetics aspect because both my mom and dad are pretty heavy.  My mother used to walk, but she has even given that up and eats ice cream whenever she feels like it.  My father was watching calories for about a month, but decided he likes his liquor instead.  My mom lost a bunch of weight on Atkins about 6 years ago, but something mentally made her give it up and she quit exercising and gained back.   So my genes are destined to always be overweight, unless I fight like hell and act aggressively against it, ya know?

Damn - now that I am in this challenge, it's hard to NOT weigh myself everyday - I am up a pound, but not sweating it, its probably water weight anyway.  I'll try not to weigh myself everyday!  Only Fridays!  Hope everyone is having a great weekend and congrats on the success so far!

Hi Everyone!  I got lucky this week!

SW (for this challenge): 149.6

CW (August 1st): 146.6

I lost 3 pounds!!!  I had to take a break from my workouts due to an infection that I have been fighting for 3 weeks, so maybe my body just needed a break!

Hope everyone has a great weekend!

zenasavvy - I used to drink wine almost every night, but have been 100% alcohol free now for 6 solid weeks!  It was becoming quite a habit.  I thought I would drop the weight faster because of this though.... also, I used to skip breakfast everyday and just drink coffee.  Now, I eat breakfast, even if it is just a little yogurt.

jennelaw - sorry to hear about your diagnosis!  Hopefully your successful weightloss will make it more manageable!

Twins / Trips, yes , sounds like we are VERY close!  My actual starting weight was in the 160s maybe a year and a half ago, but have been fluctuating in the 150s forever!  It take a great deal of effort for me to get into the 140s, so I am wondering if the 120s will ever be attainable for me again???  I used to run a lot about 5 years ago and dropped weight like mad, but it's not happening now.

Whoa!  That is the EXACT amount I want to lose by Christmas!  I am so frustrated right not though, the scale will NOT budge!  I have been eating right and exercising alot and I even gained a little in a week!  I have to keep moving ahead though and keep positive!

Meant to add: I will weigh-in whenever you'd like, so Friday's work for me!  I would like to join this group!!  I am 35, 5'4", SW: 154, CW: 149.6, GW: 121.  I was hoping to get to this weight by Christmas - I was at this weight about 5 years ago!  I am hoping to get to the 130s by October!  I weight train 2-3 days a week, do 1 day Spinning class, and Run / Walk / Jog the other days.  The weight is coming off rather slow for me though!
