Well, last week I was at 155.2 and today I weighed in at 157 which is slightly discouraging, but I'm pretty sure it will be back off next week. I had a midterm today that stressed me out all week, so I'm hoping to get back on track and see those numbers go down! I can't believe Christmas is coming up so soon... |

This week I weighed in at 155.2. So not terrible, but not great either. I'm going to step it up this week at the gym though and try some different things! (on the list of everyones names, mine is Lrn_298, not irn_298)..thanks! |

Sorry I'm late to weigh in! I was 157.2... lost .5 lbs. Kind of depressing, but I'm not letting it bother me. I had a rough week - I accidently sliced my thumb on a can when I was trying to bend the lid back (stupid stupid move..) and ended up having to get 5 stitches. Needless to say, its pretty hard to use my hand right now for exercising because I can't hold onto anything. It's healing nicely though, so I should be back in action next week! Happy Halloween everyone! I heard a tip on the radio on how to keep track of all your halloween treats -- don't throw out the wrappers! If you do tend to put your hand in the candy bowl, by having the wrappers in front of you rather than throwing them in the trash, you will more likely stop eating at fewer bars when you see how much you've eaten! |

| I've been struggling with stomach issues for the past 2 years. After many tests and appointments, I was given the IBS diagnosis. Even then I was still experiencing pain and not being able to eat many things without feeling immediately ill. I was losing weight, and was down to 135 from 245. Today, I'm back up at 150 after going GF for about 4 months now. My nutritionist said that the weight gain could be because when I was sick food was going right through me and I wasn't absorbing any nutrients; now my body is actually absorbing nutrients because it is healed..leading to a weight gain. I don't feel like I've gained weight.. I can tell a bit because of how my pants fit, but I look a lot healthier. before I was thin, but very pale and ghostly looking and now i've got a healthy glow in my face. Having allergies is tough, especially the trial and error process, and the daily experimentation with food. I've found that fruits and veggies are my best options. It's important to not get stuck in the junky gf foods. For awhile I had the mentality 'i can't eat brownies anymore (i didn't even eat them when I could eat them!) but OMG they have GF brownies! I have to try them!' |

| I'm in too! I'm 21, and a full-time university student. I have struggled with weight all my life, but in the past two years I've changed everything about the way I eat and exercise. My highest weight was 245, and I'm currently 150. After maintaining 130-135 for 1 year, I have slowly climbed up to my current weight in three months. (I was struggling with IBS/Celiac, and with a recent diagnosis my body is absorbing nutrients now and 'healthier'/gaining weight is normal I guess now that I'm feeling better). I definitely have to get back to the gym though! I don't necessarily want to lose 30 lbs, but 20-25 would be nice!
How about Sunday as a weigh in day? Pros - keeps you on track over the weekend, cons - it's the end of the weekend.. |

| I hope you start feeling better by cutting out gluten if you think that is the problem, however you must cut ALL of it out in order to feel 100% better, imo. I have a gluten allergy, and if I have the tiniest bit, or a piece of bread, it's all the same on my system. So perhaps experimenting and cutting everything out, including hidden sources (read labels!) would make you feel better. | |||

i haven't counted calories in a few days, but getting back into it tomorrow. i plan to do some major clean up tonight, and then hitting up the gym tomorrow followed by some shopping. |

| well the internet was down in my house for a few days, but im back!
weigh in was on Tuesday - and needless to say, im retaining water...ttom - 143.00 I know its just water, but it still bothers me. I know it will be back down by next week though - i go through this every month "i gained 5 lbs this week!!" I think i might actually put the scale away for a week and a half until I feel 'thin' and not bloated. We're still baking for xmas - we've made about 5 different types of biscotti (almond, pistachio cranberry with white chocolate, triple chocolate, anise, gingerbread and a random mix) and cookies are next weekend. I'm so sick of cookies and sweets at this point, which is a good thing! I lost count of calories today from all the random bites of biscotti, but im guessing around 2000 - today was definetly over my usual average, but ill be back on the wagon tomorrow! |

| Did anyone watch the Biggest Loser last night? I really like that show - I should have been studying for finals, but couldn't help watching.
I'm 5'4, 140 lbs (20 yrs old) right now and really want a bod like Jillian or Kim. I think they both look awesome. Basically I just want a toned body. I've lost a little over 100 lbs, but i've got a bit of loose skin on my tummy and my thighs are awful. I hate my thighs. I may be 140 but I sure don't look like it. Anyways, point of this story - I'm going to start focusing a lot more on toning and weights. Sure I'll still get my cardio in but I need to drastically increase the time i spend on weights. I have a lot of lower body strength, thanks to when i used to play soccer and my tree trunk legs, but my upper body is pretty weak, mind you it's not as bad as it used to be. And i just know i have a defined set of abs underneath my flab...i just know it! haha Calories so far: 988 I've got one more meal for today - supper and I think we're having perogies. I had a snack this afternoon and am thinking about making it for supper too - you take cauliflower and cut it into little bite size pieces, toss it in a mix of chili powder, pepper, salt and cumin and bake in the over at 400 for 10 mins! It's really tasty, and low cal! I started my christmas cooking yesterday, and staying away from those treats will definetly be my biggest challenge. i made cranberry almond cookies with an orange glaze and helped myself to one or two..or three..okay okay, four. they are 110 cals each and irresitable. i've finally put them away and aren't craving them anymore but i've got about 5 more recipes to make (i bring an assortment to every xmas party i go to) and about 5 biscotti recipes. Surely I won't have to taste test every recipe..i'll get someone else to do that. Wow - hope you enjoy reading my short novel! hope everyone is doing great |

| hey everyone! the weekend went alright - i was just recovering from the flu so didn't have a chance to go to the gym. i've got finals coming up, so a lot of my time is spent studying! my weigh-in day is tomorrow. today was a good day, i stayed within my range (1200-1400) and got out for a walk with my dog. it was too cold to go for a long walk, but i managed to get around a few blocks. it was -25, but the wind wasn't too strong so it wasn't that bad once i was all bundled up.
glad to see everyone is doing good! |

| my nutritionst advised me to drink pure water - none of that zero calorie, flavoured stuff. the body needs pure water - sure you can count 1 glass of water as flavoured, but try to get the majority of your daily water requirements through pure water. | |||

| yes, you can lose weight by just counting calories, granted it comes off a lot quicker if you do incorporate some exercise into the equation!! I haven't been to the gym in over a month for health reasons, and i miss it so much! not only is exercise great for your bod, but for your mind as well. | |||

Try balancing your diet with more vegetables. I would also switch from white bread to whole wheat. Why the 5 muffins? Do you eat that many everday? Your BMI is at the lower end in the healthy range - are you trying to gain weight? or lose weight? |

| Yes, the male metabolism is an odd thing... I'm trying to lose weight, and my boyfriend is trying to gain weight however is having a very very hard time doing so. he is 6'0 and 160 lbs...a very skinny guy. he is very muscular, but very lean. he tries to eat a lot, but still can't gain weight. he has gotten up to 165, but that didn't last long. im running out of suggestions to help him gain! i've told him to make sure he eats 3 meals a day (he used to skip breakfast), eat snacks, count calories to make sure he's eating enough, etc but nothing seems to work. |

| Hey everyone! i'm Lauren F, 20, 5'4 HW: 245 CW: 139 GW: 125 I've been in the low 140s (just broke into the 30's..barely though!) for the past 4 months. 140 was my GW when I was at my highest, so I was okay with maintaining for awhile. I'm a full time student. I haven't worked out in awhile, due to health issues, but i'm hoping that in January I will be able to get back into my gym routines. I will be taking a yoga and tai chi class too, so that will be 2 hours of exercise every week, minimum. My goal for 2008 is to reach my GW, maintain, and be proud of my achievments. I still get uncomfortable when people comment on how much I've changed, but i'm learning to accept the new me! Im looking forward to getting to know everyone here! Question: what do Cinnamon supplements do for you? I've heard a lot of people using them, but what exactly do they do... I take calcium supplements and Benefibre! |

| my daily rant:
i've been dealing with some health issues for the past half year and had to quit my part-time job at the coffee shop. i was getting sick after everything i ate, and just had really bad stomach cramps, etc. i'm finally getting some answers about whats going on with me but what i hate the most is going into the coffee shop or running into friends i haven't seen in awhile and hearing: "oh you look better! your skin isn't so grey...you actually look somewhat healthier.." THANKS. if i looked THAT sick before, why didn't anyone tell me? i could have worn extra makeup or something.. i'm glad i'm looking healthier but i don't really want to be reminded or told that i looked that awful before.. |

| I just came back from grocery shopping and we have a new fruit in our grocery store! GRAPPLES! its a cross between a grape and an apple...looks like an apple but smells and tastes kinda like a grape! the smell reminded me of grape juice. they are expensive (4 for 4.99) but different and worth it for a treat. Just thought I'd let you know Molly since you are out there trying different foods! | |||

| This is my first time posting on this thread, and i just want to say - WOW! what a great thread. I've been reading it daily and have enjoyed every entry.
My mini rant: being short!! I'm not even that short. i'm 5'4. "average height"!!! and why does this bother me? Well before I lost 105 lbs, (245 to 140) I was able to buy pants (size 16, though they should have probably been an 18..i was just stubborn) I didn't have to get them shortened..the fabric covered my big bum and my thighs and my extra tire around my tummy and the length was perfect!! well...now that my extra tire and bum have vanished, and my thighs have significantly changed, pants are WAY too long!!! Every pair I buy needs to be hemmed and its just a pain in the butt. and the petite pants are too short! oh my, what a dilema. oh well. i'd rather shorten my pants over the extra pounds any day! |
